Why do doctors go by your LMP due date instead of your 8week scan ultrasound due date??

So my due date has changed....1st dd was may 19th which makes me 28 + 1.. now its may 29th n dat makes me 26 + 5... according to my lmp im due may 19th n dats what im going with.. idk why they tell u one dd n then change it ugh...makes my pregnancy seem longer...

Do you mean due date changed according to us scan date and LMP date or during the pregnancy because baby grows fast? I am like dianaexoh and ovulated late so had my due date put back 2 weeks after first us scan. I have a friend who just had her due date pushed forward 3 days at 20 weeks because her baby is growing fast.

So they base it on your LMP, and 40 weeks later is when you are due. They can change your due date after you have an ultrasound in the early weeks to tell how far along you are by measuring the baby. So it is confusing, but in the end it turns out right.

it was feb 19 based on my lmp but then at the ultrasound they measured my baby and baby measured bigger so they changed my due date to feb 13. but i know that cant be. i went a month without sex and counting backwards....unless it takes sperm 2 weeks to fertilize an egg i know its gonna change again.

I think they will go by your LMP until you get a dating ultrasound which would make your due date march 13th.

she knew I had planned th e pregnancy and I told her about the ovulation strips and the 2 possible conception dates because of the circumstances and she told me based on my LMP due date was Oct 23rd... s the way they did it with my 1st pregnancy. August 30th should be my due date according to my period. Well, they told me my due date was Sept. 5th. Where did they get that from??? I haven't had an ultrasound yet. I go in 3 weeks for one.

Yes more then likely my doctor always does a ultrasound to calculate an accurate due date with my first my due date by my lmp was August 14th but after the ultrasound they determined I was due August 26th so that's 12 days after and then with this one going by my lmp my due date was October 7th and after the ultrasound they determined I was due October 17th so that's 10 days after

It changed again I am so tired of this.. anyone else have this happen to them?

My lmp was April 16Th due date of 21st Jan. Ultrasound gave me date of 3rd Feb. My doc midwife both said that it's common to have that two week gap as baby may grow quicker or slower or summit. Ultrasound is more accurate though.

Okay Soo my LMP was 08/03/2014 so my guess it be May,10th but doctor said May,6th now by LMP I be around 13weeks but the baby measure a week ahead to week and half so now due date April,30th I'm so confused

In my second pregnancy my due date was changed when i was 35 weeks from 15th june to 22nd june.

In UK they change the due date based on what the ultrasound says when you have it not when your lmp says. My LMP put me 3 weeks ahead of my due date because i have really long cycles. I told the doc i knew when i ovulated and conceived but he had to go by lmp until the ultrasound proved otherwise then they changed my due date. The reason they are different could be because you ovulated earlier or later than usual in your cycle and as its only 4 days difference i wouldn't worry too much.

Do you have a normal 28 day cycle? That can affect when you ovualte and change your dates...but normally if it is longer and a later date. I'd say that maybe you're just gonna have a big baby. I'd go by my lmp date because if they change it to the earlier one and you go over due you will just be waiting and waiting and everyone will be bugging you when is the baby gonna come, if someone can't reach you they will think you are in labour...

They moved my due date from June 1st back to May 27 after a month of ultrasounds..... been told it is not uncommon.....since they go by lmp, sometimes your conception date doesn't match with their 14 day cycle.....we all have different cycles, so there is no true norm....... however the baby will come when the baby is ready, not on some date a doctor chose..... best wishes..............

My ? Is, if i had my period on aug 11, 2011 my dr gave me a due date of may 18, 2012. When we did our ultrasound they game me due date of june 5th, what do i go by? My dr keeps on telling me that its ok, i dont understand, what is ok?
