wait, they told me on aug 11th i was 7 weeks and 1 day but that was the gestational age so did i still conceive around june 6th?
If the hospital told you they go by gestational age, they don't go by date of conception. (I've actually never heard of a medical person using any other kind of count besides GA. To get a date of conception out of a doctor, you have to work backwards from the estimated due date on a conception calculator, or ask the doctor very specifically, using the word "conception.") The "weeks pregnant" counts are what they call gestational age.
It would be rare to get a positive on a pee test at the doctor's as soon as only nine days after sex; doctors' pee tests are notorious for not even being as sensitive as early-results home tests, and often we do a pee test at the doc after being up, having something to drink, etc. (in other words, not with concentrated urine) which makes them even less likely to catch pregnancy early.
I was wondering when they do ultrasounds is that measuring gestation al age or actual fetal age? And is fetal age actually 2 weeks less than gestational age? I really need to know the answer from someone who deals with ultrasounds and pregnancy on a regular basis. Also, I'm pretty sure I conceived on or after August 24, 2009 and my due date is May 17, 2010. I need help!
An early ultrasound can provide a more accurate gestational age and due date. It should be done EARLY in pregnancy for best results. So, request an ultrasound to help date the pregnancy and you'll take all the guess work out of it. Congratulations on the pregnancy. Hope you have a happy and healthy one.
So I did a due date calculator thing because I was bored. I am lost it says my first trimester begin on June 22 but I didn't have sex until June 29th and July 6th and my doctor told me my due date was the same as what the calculator gave me which was March 29th. I don't understand how my first trimester could of begin on the 22 if I didnt have sex until the days I listed. Sorry first time pregnancy 18 years old lol. Some one help explain?
i had my first ultra sound on december 6 and the ultra sound said i was 7 weeks and 1 day. do i count back using this (the gestational age) to figured out the day i concieved. the doctor gave me a due date of july 27 2010?
Especially if the ultrasound was relatively early in your pregnancy, you can plug the due date into a calculator for an approximate conception date.
If your gestational age on March 9 was 6 weeks, conception was approx 4 weeks prior to that. Gestational age actually starts before conception (for example, my LMP started Feb 8 so that is the date used to determine the gestational age of my baby...she was conceived right around Feb 22nd)
It is nearly impossible to determine that actual conception date on a natural pregnancy. I KNOW I ovulated and had intercourse on on Feb 22nd...
The two weeks before you actually conceive are counted toward your pregnancy because its the time your body prepares for pregnancy.
You should get an ultrasound. They can give you an estimated due date with some accuracy (give or take a couple of days) at this point. You can then plug that into a conception calculator and it will compute your most likely conception date.
Doctors start the count for pregnancy on the first day of your last period, and will give you a "gestational age" based on that. (Don't be fooled by the term "gestational age," it does not mean age of embryo based on conception.
m confused because I had sex oct 20th and 21st but says I ovulated on the 27th when I also had sex. I went for a gender determintation when I was suppose to be 16 weeks gestational age and the aua was 14 weeks and 6 days which was oct 22 but I didn't supposibly conceive or ovulate until the 27th. I went in for an ob appointment when I was suppose to be 17 weeks and 6 days and the doctor said my babys GA was 15 weeks and 2 days which wouldve been oct.
You actaully concieve roughly two weeks after this date. It is a gestational age not the age of age of the actual baby. So for example if you are five weeks into your pregnancy then the time of conception was actually three weeks ago.
You may want to clarify with your doctor whether they are using conception age or gestational age. According to the online calculator at pregnancy.org if you were due sept 22nd your conception date would have been Dec 30th. I would ask your doctor to really clarify things for you.
I'm confused by the ultrasound gestational age. I believe I conceived the weekend of 9/27/14. Based on an ultrasound on 12/11/14 I was 10 weeks 5 days and on 1/9/15 I was 14 weeks 6 days. They're consistent with each other but it puts my due date as July 4 and conception 2 weeks later than I thought. Am I wrong or is the ultrasound measuring me incorrectly?
If you were given a age of 6 weeks 1 day, that means that conception occured AROUND 4 weeks 1 day before the ultrasound was performed (they add two weeks to the conception date since gestational age goes by the date of your last period). Its really almost impossible to pinpoint the exact day unless you had fertility procedures done however.
What do you mean by generational age? Do you mean gestational age? That is the count beginning from the first day of your last period.
so i was wondering if me and my ex had sex July 6th and i had an abdominal ultrasound on July 27th would i be 5 weeks? and would i be able to see a gestational sac if he is the babies father. because in the ultrasound i was told i was 5 weeks and we seen the gestational sac!!!! HELP!!!! PLEASE!!!!

When you go, ask for an ultrasound. Explain that you were broken up briefly from the guy you want to be the dad, so it is important to you to get an estimated due date. You can then plug that estimated due date into a conception calculator for an idea of when you conceived.
