I have heard that Lyrica actually worse that Gabapentin for the weight gain. I have gained a bit on the gabapentin too, but my mother was on Lyric and gained 30 lbs. in a VERY short time. you might want to reconsider it. I donèt know if it is a body type and condition that causes the weight gain, but I have heard it alot from people on Lyrica. Just check it out Pat, and see what your Dr.

Sarah, I was on gabapentin and gained about 20 pounds, I stopped taking it due to tighness in chest everytimg I was taking it. My doctor put me on lyrica and it works great for me. The weight gaining effect of this drug will not persist after discontinuation. Any associated condition should be looked for. If there is a change in voice (Voice becomes dusky), weight gain, intolerance to cold etc. You need to get your T3, t4 and TSH level checked as it may be in initial phase.

I was on a lyrica regiment for about 6 months and in regard to side effects, never had any adverse reactions that were of concern. At first the Dr started me on gabapentin (neurontin), but that stuff really messed with me. Within a week, I'd wake in the mornings horribly dizzy..It would take me a couple hours just to get feeling somewhat normal. So the Dr switched me to the lyrica..

It also makes me tired which I can handle that one but not the weight gain, I have had problems with my back in the past and when I put on weight my back hurts. I have nerve pain in my face and just pain in my face, what would be the other options I can talk to the dr about today? Would another pill from that line of pills be the same? I am going to talk to him about treatment of the other pain in my face if he don't want to then send me to a pain specialist that can treat all the pain.

Depending on how old you are it could just be a weight thing. Normally early 20s you gain weight and again in mid-40s where it becomes hard to lose the weight. (I'm too lazy to check your status to see if you have your age so those things may not apply).

Had sexual side effects and gained some weight but I am not positive is from the Lexapro but I think may be. The Dr gave me Effexor which knocked me out for 3 days, slept 36 hours straight, then Celexa which I broke out in a rash all over my body from. He tried Wellbutrin but that did nothing. I didn't lose weight on it like some people do.
