Pregabalin side effects medication

Common Questions and Answers about Pregabalin side effects medication

lyrica

Avatar f tn gabapentin often requires 1800mg / day to work (built up slowly over time), while pregabalin can be effective at 150mg TID. And the change of side effects build as the does is increased. If cost is an issue, since gabapentin can be effective for neuropathic pain (at high doses) I'd try the gabapentin first and see what happens. If it doesn't work, then i'd try the Lyrica.
Avatar m tn re prone to being dizzy then buspar is not for you. one of the most common side effects of this medication is dizzyness, and while i havent experienced that particular side effect so far i would suggest that you look for alternatives before trying it.
Avatar m tn m sorry to hear what you are going through , The Medication you are on and the side effects are giving you a hard time , how long are you on the Medication for ?
Avatar f tn You can take pregabalin (Lyrica) and sertraline (Zoloft) together. However, please note there are additive side effects when taking the two together. They both may cause patients to feel tired, dizzy and drowsy. In addition, patients may have impaired mental function and loss of balance. Please avoid driving and drinking alcohol while taking these medications. Here are more information on the 2 medications: 1. Pregabalin (Lyrica) - MedlinePlus http://www.nlm.nih.
Avatar f tn That same claim would imply that side-effects (ie the effects other than the main-effect of pain relief) should stay relatively constant too - which is contradicted by the fact that side-effects do generally fade over time. My reasoning is that since most side-effects diminish over time (eg a month or so), the human body must be adapting to the pregabalin in some manner.
1252153 tn?1269094321 Lyrica works to control nerve pain and is approved to treat fibromyalgia. Lyrica is a trade name and Pregabalin is the actual name of the medication. Lyrica is a hybrid, so to speak, and similar to gabapentin or Neurontin. Neurontin is approved for use to treat seizures but was found to be helpful with individuals with fibromyalgia Savella is a dual reuptake inhibitor called a SNRI. Which means is it a serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor.
Avatar f tn Tramadol is not a strong pain reliever in my opinion. Plus it has many unwanted side effects for a lot of people, me included. I haven't been on Lyrica, but I've heard that helps a lot of people with nerve pain. There are more medications that are much more effective in treating pain. You are in the UK, so I do not know the protocol with pain management with your doctors. My best advice to you is go to your doctor and let them know that your pain is not being managed well.

Avatar m tn Hi there. The side effects associated with the use of pregabalin are dizziness, somnolence, tremor and ataxia, peripheral edema, weight gain, hypoglycemia, dry mouth, increased appetite, vomiting and flatulence. Ocular side effects include visual field changes, reduced visual acuity, blurred vision, otitis media and tinnitus, angioedema with respiratory compromise has been reported, dyspnea, urinary incontinence, myasthenia, arthralgia, myalgia, etc.
Avatar n tn Talk to your doctor and/or pharmacist to be certain as everyone is different. I've tried gabapentin several times in addition to being on oxycontin and oxycodone (and some other meds at the same time.) I did find it helped with the pain but I had a bad side effect in that it made me slur my words (to the point people thought I was drunk and I don't drink.) Also, you cannot stop it cold turkey due to a seizure risk but it's not like you have withdrawals like you do with narcotics.
Avatar m tn Pregabalin is similar to gabapentin but has less side effects and often people who can not tolerate gabapentin benefit from pregabalin. However it is more expensive. The same is true for medications such as amitryptiline, which was originally used for depression but is now a mainstay of treatment for neuropathic pain. However, it has several side effects and may not be used in patients with heart problems.
1218873 tn?1300091216 I think I have fewer side effects with pregabalin (Lyrica). Like I said, I couldn't take more than 300 mg of gabapentin at a time, without getting dizzy, no matter how slowly I increased. I take 100 mg of Lyrica (=~ 1200 mg of gabapentin, I think!) + 300 mg of gabapentin at the same time w/o getting dizzy.
Avatar f tn I need something but I am afraid the Lyrica and Prozac might interact with Dilaudid. Has anyone used Dilaudid to manage Fibro pain? How does its effects compare to Vicodin? Any advice would help - thank you.
Avatar f tn t possibly cause these side effects (I looked it up only after about the 4th day on it and these are known side effects, but from much higher doses). So I'm wondering if it could be because of my other meds that this small amount is causing side effects? I just feel dumb saying I think it's causing all this when the dose is so small. Anyone else experience anything like this with tegretol? Should I give it more time?
