Pregabalin in system

Common Questions and Answers about Pregabalin in system

lyrica

634733 tn?1316625992 Gabapentin and Lyrica are anti-seizure medications (this class of drugs also reduces neuropathic pain) that effect the voltage gating of calcium channels in the nervous system. Just about all of the anti-seizure medications "can" (but not always do) cause weight gain. These drugs decrease certain neurotransmitters and increase neuronal GABA levels.
Avatar f tn Labor and Delivery The effects of Lyrica on labor and delivery in pregnant women are unknown. In the prenatal-postnatal study in rats, pregabalin prolonged gestation and induced dystocia at exposures ≥50 times the mean human exposure (AUC (0–24) of 123 µg∙hr/mL) at the maximum recommended clinical dose of 600 mg/day. Nursing Mothers It is not known if pregabalin is excreted in human milk; it is, however, present in the milk of rats.
Avatar m tn Pregabalin is known as Lyrica in the States and is prescribed primarily to relieve neuropathic pain if you have diabetes or in the area of your rash if you have had shingles. It is also used to treat fibromyalgia. Pregabalin is used with other medications to treat certain types of seizures in people with epilepsy. Pregabalin is in a class of medications called anticonvulsants. It works by decreasing the number of pain signals that are sent out by damaged nerves in the body.
Avatar f tn Central nervous system- and/or respiratory-depressant effects may be additively or synergistically increased in patients taking multiple drugs that cause these effects, especially in elderly or debilitated patients. MANAGEMENT: During concomitant use of these drugs, patients should be monitored for potentially excessive or prolonged CNS and respiratory depression.
Avatar f tn My reasoning is that since most side-effects diminish over time (eg a month or so), the human body must be adapting to the pregabalin in some manner. The scientific literature about pregabalin is largely silent on whether this can also happen with the main-effect of pain relief. I'm pretty sure that my condition isn't worsening at the moment, although it is a possibility. Anyway, it is a sunny day here, so I'm off to walk the dog.
Avatar f tn The insurance company has denied surgey the first time. Then requested medical records. That was in July still nothing. There is nothing else to do but wait for the ok. I have pain and numbness in my fingers. Can you give me any ideas on what to do?
Avatar n tn That was about 4 years ago, I have adjusted and learned to walk with the drop foot. However, in recent months, I have experienced a stronger feeling of electrical shocks in the area near the toes that will last only about 3-5 seconds, but occur every 1-2 minutes. These have gotten more painful and I can find no cure to resolve or calm them. Believe me, I continue to try everything from a soak in the tub to heating pads to ice to exercise to massage.
Avatar n tn Thanks for using the forum. I am happy to address your questions, and my answer will be based on the information you provided here. Please make sure you recognize that this forum is for educational purposes only, and it does not substitute for a formal office visit with your doctor. I can not make specific treatment recommendations for your daughter without examining her and obtaining a history, however, I will try to provide you with some information regarding this matter.
Avatar m tn The above is interesting, but may be useless for any particular individual. Relora, for example, is just a more expensive trademarked product you can get cheaper by just buying what's in it. Also, the above says vegetable protein will excite your nervous system, but there's no difference between one form of protein and another -- if it's protein, it's protein.
Avatar m tn she has had severe pain in her joints as well as a lot of pain in her hands and arms...no it is not arthritis.....my question is....what will happen if she combines the methadone and the pregabalin?...she takes methadone about every other day...a bottle of 130mg methadone will last her almost 5 to 6 days....any info would be helpful.
1218873 tn?1300091216 I think I have fewer side effects with pregabalin (Lyrica). Like I said, I couldn't take more than 300 mg of gabapentin at a time, without getting dizzy, no matter how slowly I increased. I take 100 mg of Lyrica (=~ 1200 mg of gabapentin, I think!) + 300 mg of gabapentin at the same time w/o getting dizzy.
Avatar m tn But now his condition is worsening gradually. He is feeling very weakness in his whole body and feeling restlesness pain in his two leg.Now we are in very difficulty please help us out for certain treatment.

760862 tn?1243097304 Both antidepressants (such as effexor, prozac, and many others) and anticonvulsants (pregabalin [lyrica], gabapentin [neurontin], carbamazepine [tegretol] etc) are central nervous system agents that can reduce nerve pain. I've had significant improvements with pregabalin, for example; however, these medications vary in effect substantially from individual to individual. Hope this gives you some ideas into what to try next. Hang in there!

Avatar m tn I'm 21 and male. I was having arm pains which was caused by neck pain for bad posture on computer desk. So I went to the GP (general medicine) and he said the pain is for the neck, and it will go away and asked me to do some static neck exercise and swimming and prescribed 'Pregabalin m-75' to take for 1 month and stop.
1218873 tn?1300091216 Anyway just before we went, I had an dr. appointment. In short he is changing the Gabapentin to Pregabalin which he is asking my GP to over see when I'd returned from holiday. Also did a blood test for sarcoid, as I have had eye problems, he felt this was unlikley but wanted the test done. If that is negative he is refering me to a specialist for botox which will help the TN pain. So I have returned to find a letter from my GP to go and see him as soon as I return from holiday.
901222 tn?1399142874 I struggle with a severe form of spinal arthritis. My doctors encourage me to medicate. I don't like to. I tend to slip in and out of dependency according to pain levels and depression about it. I stay far away from oxy and morphine because they are very difficult for people to quit. Vicodin makes me sluggish and sad. I lose connections and sulk in my bed. I just stopped all about a week ago. Feeling a bit better. Still depressed with another RF medical procedure looming. I'm worried.
1218873 tn?1300091216 She now saying there is no doubt this is a problem with the central nervous system. She lays me on the bed moves me about in different ways. Now I am very loose limbed (Ex dancer now teacher) as I have continued to do as much of the teacing I have actually done my self a favour in keeping mobile, I am much stiffer than I use to be but when it comes to "normal range" I am well within them. She aknowledges this but is convinced it is a CNS problem.
Avatar f tn i am a diabetic and i take plavix i have numbness in my right leg i have no toes i have been taking penicillin for my toothe ache and i'm wondering does that have any thing to do with the numbness
3122908 tn?1342154651 ll prescribe something else....keeping in mind that my pregabalin (Lyrica) is very expensive and SOME insurances do not cover it. If you are just tired of taking the medicine, that's up to you, but you will notice the pain again very quickly, within a day or two at most.
