Pregabalin in anxiety

Common Questions and Answers about Pregabalin in anxiety

lyrica

Avatar f tn While pregabalin, known as "Lyrica" in the States, has unlabeled uses for GAD and SAD, (Generalized Anxiety Disorder and Social Anxiety Disorder) it is primarily prescribed here for fibromyalgia and neuropathic pain associated with peripheral neuropathy. Nowhere can I find that it is beneficial for sleep problems, although one of it's side effects IS "fatigue," I don't think that is the desired effect for a sleep aid.
Avatar m tn are there any new developing medication for anxiety? im taking pregabalin amongst others but cant recommend it enough!
Avatar m tn Pregabalin is known as Lyrica in the States and is prescribed primarily to relieve neuropathic pain if you have diabetes or in the area of your rash if you have had shingles. It is also used to treat fibromyalgia. Pregabalin is used with other medications to treat certain types of seizures in people with epilepsy. Pregabalin is in a class of medications called anticonvulsants. It works by decreasing the number of pain signals that are sent out by damaged nerves in the body.
1039200 tn?1314912008 Has anyone heard of Pregabalin (lyrica) for bipolar or anxiety? - my doctor wants me to try, but I have not heard about it before and would like to know if anyone here has tried it or knows anyone who has. Is it used as a mood stabiliser? - I can't find it on the web site ILADVOCATE recomended me a long time ago, does this mean it's not a mood stabiliser or just a new brand?
Avatar m tn The problem is, I have been on it for a few years now and am wondering is it the pregabalin, or is it a result of actually having an underlying anxiety condition? Anyone out there had any similar experiences?
Avatar m tn she has had severe pain in her joints as well as a lot of pain in her hands and arms...no it is not arthritis.....my question is....what will happen if she combines the methadone and the pregabalin?...she takes methadone about every other day...a bottle of 130mg methadone will last her almost 5 to 6 days....any info would be helpful.
Avatar n tn You are doing the right thing by getting everything checked to rule out other causes... however, in my experience, if someone thinks they have an anxiety disorder.. they probably do. Try not to worry about the test results too much. If it is something else than anxiety, you will be properly treated. If it turns out to be "nothing," you can get started with a treatment plan for your anxiety. All the best..
Avatar f tn my dr is using it to get me off benzos and to help my anxiety, but just how do they help...
Avatar m tn If your dizziness is from your anxiety then there are different types of medications that you can try in my opinion, but the best class for me was the SSRI (Zoloft, Prozac, etc), but you are already on one, however, no specific anxiety medication 'treats' your dizziness...it helps treat your anxiety, which in turn should help treat the 'symptoms' related to your anxiety. There are many symptoms that can be very annoying and persistent as we experience anxiety, in my experience.
Avatar m tn There are things you can do to reduce anxiety in a much safer manner. For those not adequately controlled by these methods, it would allow you to use lower doses of your medications, which would reduce side effects. Most important is to avoid excitotoxins in your food. These include MSG, aspartame, hydrolyzed proteins, vegetable protein, isolated protein, soy products (including soy protein isolates, soy protein and soy milk), natural flavoring, sodium or calcium caseinate and others.
Avatar m tn I suffer from depression and generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), with anxiety and panic attacks for two years. I suppose depression arised from the fact that both my daughters were forced to immigrate because of the economic crisis of my homeland. Anyway, i tried Cipralex, Cymbalta, Seroxat, Effexor even and the combo Effexor with Remeron (California rocket fuel) but without great results. In fact, some of these meds, made me worse. Only Xanax relieves me.
Avatar f tn ve gone from happy to anxious 24/7. Do you know what triggered your anxiety or is it just a generalised anxiety? I find that medication doesn't help me either, I take propranolol for fast heart rate and shakiness which it does remove these things but the actual anxiety still remains, I find that distraction is the only thing that works for me, like looking cleaning, reading , walking, although some days nothing seems to help and I cannot focus all day!
Avatar f tn I have sever depression, anxiety, and fibro. I am currently on Savella, which seems to have worked somewhat well for fibro and depression. Unfortunately, what I cant control is the anxiety. I cant work. The PA Ive been seeing for the last 18 years wont even give me ten xanax a month, so I can rarely go out. I dont know if increasing the Savella will help calm the anxiety or not?
Avatar n tn Could you please let me know if it is safe for her to take lyrica for her fibromyalgia !!! Thank you so much for your time in this matter !!!
Avatar f tn Labor and Delivery The effects of Lyrica on labor and delivery in pregnant women are unknown. In the prenatal-postnatal study in rats, pregabalin prolonged gestation and induced dystocia at exposures ≥50 times the mean human exposure (AUC (0–24) of 123 µg∙hr/mL) at the maximum recommended clinical dose of 600 mg/day. Nursing Mothers It is not known if pregabalin is excreted in human milk; it is, however, present in the milk of rats.
Avatar f tn The insurance company has denied surgey the first time. Then requested medical records. That was in July still nothing. There is nothing else to do but wait for the ok. I have pain and numbness in my fingers. Can you give me any ideas on what to do?
Avatar m tn s help (he told us both last year that he doubts that she will ever get off the medication because of her condition) even though she often cries in pain the side effects from the fentanyl have been so bad as during the last few years she has lost over 2 stone in weight, has no appetite suffers with anxiety and depression and having a conversation that she can remember days later is becoming a big problem, she begged me to help her get off the patches a couple of months ago as she says she wakes
Avatar n tn Pregabalin(the working agent) is GABAergic, it has structural similarities with GABA and hence are thought to work in the same way in the brain(inhibiting) whilst it also has an inhibiting effect on the processes of glutamate and nor-adrenaline (which are stimulating in their nature) Hope someone who've actually tried it comes along to give you a better answer:) Good luck!
Avatar n tn That was about 4 years ago, I have adjusted and learned to walk with the drop foot. However, in recent months, I have experienced a stronger feeling of electrical shocks in the area near the toes that will last only about 3-5 seconds, but occur every 1-2 minutes. These have gotten more painful and I can find no cure to resolve or calm them. Believe me, I continue to try everything from a soak in the tub to heating pads to ice to exercise to massage.
Avatar f tn My reasoning is that since most side-effects diminish over time (eg a month or so), the human body must be adapting to the pregabalin in some manner. The scientific literature about pregabalin is largely silent on whether this can also happen with the main-effect of pain relief. I'm pretty sure that my condition isn't worsening at the moment, although it is a possibility. Anyway, it is a sunny day here, so I'm off to walk the dog.
Avatar m tn Later that night I got instensive FASCICULATIONS in my legs (thighs and calves), arms, back, more rarely in my abs and other parts and aslo pain-tiredness in the legs. After 4 days fasciculatons and a light headache remained, the doctor checked me and found fasciculations also in my tongue. The neurologist ordered basic blood tests and made a physical exploration. He did not find any abnormality, but the TWITCHING was so intense, the they filmed it.
1218873 tn?1300091216 I think I have fewer side effects with pregabalin (Lyrica). Like I said, I couldn't take more than 300 mg of gabapentin at a time, without getting dizzy, no matter how slowly I increased. I take 100 mg of Lyrica (=~ 1200 mg of gabapentin, I think!) + 300 mg of gabapentin at the same time w/o getting dizzy.
