lyrica

Avatar m tn This is true of gabapentin and pregabalin which were originally invented for seizures. Pregabalin is similar to gabapentin but has less side effects and often people who can not tolerate gabapentin benefit from pregabalin. However it is more expensive. The same is true for medications such as amitryptiline, which was originally used for depression but is now a mainstay of treatment for neuropathic pain. However, it has several side effects and may not be used in patients with heart problems.
Avatar f tn LYRICA is not known to be active at receptor sites associated with drugs of abuse. As with any CNS active drug, physicians should carefully evaluate patients for history of drug abuse and observe them for signs of LYRICA misuse or abuse (e.g., development of tolerance, dose escalation, drug-seeking behavior." I have been doing some searching, as I said I would. I have found numerous posts on tolerance. And as you can see even some of the litature discusses tolerance.
Avatar m tn Without the ability to obtain a history from you and examine you, I can not comment on a formal diagnosis or treatment plan for your symptoms. However, I will try to provide you with some information regarding this matter. You may be suffering from neuropathic pain. There are many causes of neuropathic pain. One common cause is diabetes.

Avatar n tn I am happy to address the issues that you pose, although it is important that you recognize that my impression is based entirely on the information you have provided in your posting and is by no means a replacement for an office visit with a neurologist. Diagnosis is contingent on detailed history and physical exam and as such, the following information should be considered solely for educational purposes.

2107676 tn?1388973859 I am back on Effexor (which was hell to taper off of), and pregabalin and fighting hard not to take too much pregabalin to ease the withdrawals. Luckily I have been sleeping quite a bit but I'm awake now and feeling like hell. It just seems like I have been through a year of fighting not to go through this hell and here I end up again.
Avatar m tn I'm 21 and male. I was having arm pains which was caused by neck pain for bad posture on computer desk. So I went to the GP (general medicine) and he said the pain is for the neck, and it will go away and asked me to do some static neck exercise and swimming and prescribed 'Pregabalin m-75' to take for 1 month and stop.
1218873 tn?1300091216 Hi i wondered if anyone could explain there experience of Pregabalin (Lyrica?) i have been on Gabapentin for the last 3 months with only a little success (the twitches have reduced considerably) but no relief pain. Now the Dr is going to swap me to Pregabalin which has to be done slowly to switch from one to the other, so this will start as soon as I'm home from holiday. I wondered if anyone had done this and what there experience of the drugs are?
Avatar m tn no it is not arthritis.....my question is....what will happen if she combines the methadone and the pregabalin?...she takes methadone about every other day...a bottle of 130mg methadone will last her almost 5 to 6 days....any info would be helpful.
Avatar f tn ear ache for over 2 months - head pain being worst to cope with. History - Have allergies to dustmites, cats etc. Am under care of allergist and take nasal sprays/antihistimines. My headaches began at work following building work/high dust levels in the office. My doctor has treated me with 4 rounds antibitoics/ 3 week steroids/painkillers - treated as severe sinusitus. Had MRI done & results clear. Both puzzled.
1218873 tn?1300091216 Anyway just before we went, I had an dr. appointment. In short he is changing the Gabapentin to Pregabalin which he is asking my GP to over see when I'd returned from holiday. Also did a blood test for sarcoid, as I have had eye problems, he felt this was unlikley but wanted the test done. If that is negative he is refering me to a specialist for botox which will help the TN pain. So I have returned to find a letter from my GP to go and see him as soon as I return from holiday.
901222 tn?1399142874 Lyrica (pregabalin) is a GABA analogue, similar to Neurontin (gabapentin). Even though pregabalin is approved for The results are still out on whether or not people suffer neurological dependance on this medication. People using high doses of pregabalin (> 1000 mg/day) report problems stopping this medication. My attitude about certain reported side-effects, like weight gain, is that I'll never know what they'll do to me until I try.
3122908 tn?1342154651 I can guarantee not only will your pain come back, but you will so miserable! I take its cousin, pregabalin, for nerve pain in my back, and occasionally I run low on them and you would not believe how many aches and pains a person really has until they quit a drug to help all that. It is a fairly mild drug, however, so it's not like you won't be able to function, you just won't be a happy camper.
983008 tn?1329925830 t spoken to my Dr yet as the surgery has been shut over Xmas and I did expect evrything to calm down since increasing the Pregabalin, am currently visiting my lovely stepdaughter for a few days (sitting with my feet up and playing with her laptop) I am seeing my neuro in a few weeks but am wondering if I should visit my Dr again as at this rate I doubt I will be back to work next week - the Hospital did mention putting me on a steroid drip and then changed their minds - is this the way forward?
Avatar f tn The advice may not be completely correct for you as the doctor cannot examine you and does not know your complete medical history. Hence this reply to your post should only be considered as a guiding line and you must consult your doctor at the earliest for your medical problem.
Avatar m tn i have been prescribed neck rest with soft collar and neuro medicines like pregabalin. i should admit that today is the 3rd day of medication and pain came back after almost 2 days. i am guessing that the frequency is going down. my question is that does it seem to be the right diagnosis or not? is occipital neuralgia permanent? could this be a muscle spasm? i have had history of stiff neck and pain in sub-occipital and neck area in past 2 years.
Avatar f tn I have recently seen my Neurologist, who has confirmed I am suffering with Anxiety and has suggested I go on a drug called Pregabalin and he has said it will help my sleep problem. My question is has anyone had any experiences with this drug, if so comments very welcome.
Avatar m tn So my GP prescribed me static neck exercise, swimming and prescribed to take Pregabalin-M 75 (Pregabalin-Methylcobalamine tablets 75mg) For 1 month and then stop. I took 5 doses yet. But I'm having this following side-effects - dizziness, sleepiness whole day, lack of interest and and concentration, bad mood, sexually charged dreams, erection problem and lack of libido or interest in sexual desire. I have a high libido by default. But I'm not feeling it since I took the medicines.
1253197 tn?1331209110 I was on 1800mg a day and put on a stone over 4 months! I have now swapped to pregabalin and I am beginning to lose the weight. I changed drug because the Gabapentin was not controling my symptoms enough nothing to do with the weight gain, I am now on 400mg of Pregabalin and I am try to lose the weight I have gained so far I have lost half a stone in about three weeks. I know that there are many people who feel that Pregabalin also makes them put on weight.
Avatar m tn I was wondering, I was diagnosed as having generalised anxiety disorder following a major breakdown (no surprise there then!!) and after many drugs, ended up on pregabalin (600mg per day). This stabilised my anxiety, but now can't seem to feel a thing emotionally, not even my kids and other family members and friends. The problem is, I have been on it for a few years now and am wondering is it the pregabalin, or is it a result of actually having an underlying anxiety condition?
Avatar f tn Muscle weakness, pain ,burning pain and fatigue are few of the common symptoms of fibromyalgia. Medications like Duloxetione, pregabalin and Milnacipram have been approved for treating fibromyalgia.Duloxetine, Lyrica, and milnacipran are medications that are approved specifically for treating fibromyalgia. The goal of treatment in this condition is to improve sleep and pain tolerance. Medicines should always be used along with exercise and behavior therapy.
