lyrica

Avatar m tn are there any new developing medication for anxiety? im taking pregabalin amongst others but cant recommend it enough!
Avatar f tn in the States, has unlabeled uses for GAD and SAD, (Generalized Anxiety Disorder and Social Anxiety Disorder) it is primarily prescribed here for fibromyalgia and neuropathic pain associated with peripheral neuropathy. Nowhere can I find that it is beneficial for sleep problems, although one of it's side effects IS "fatigue," I don't think that is the desired effect for a sleep aid.
1039200 tn?1314912008 Has anyone heard of Pregabalin (lyrica) for bipolar or anxiety? - my doctor wants me to try, but I have not heard about it before and would like to know if anyone here has tried it or knows anyone who has. Is it used as a mood stabiliser? - I can't find it on the web site ILADVOCATE recomended me a long time ago, does this mean it's not a mood stabiliser or just a new brand?
Avatar m tn I suffer from depression and generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), with anxiety and panic attacks for two years. I suppose depression arised from the fact that both my daughters were forced to immigrate because of the economic crisis of my homeland. Anyway, i tried Cipralex, Cymbalta, Seroxat, Effexor even and the combo Effexor with Remeron (California rocket fuel) but without great results. In fact, some of these meds, made me worse. Only Xanax relieves me.
Avatar m tn Pregabalin is known as Lyrica in the States and is prescribed primarily to relieve neuropathic pain if you have diabetes or in the area of your rash if you have had shingles. It is also used to treat fibromyalgia. Pregabalin is used with other medications to treat certain types of seizures in people with epilepsy. Pregabalin is in a class of medications called anticonvulsants. It works by decreasing the number of pain signals that are sent out by damaged nerves in the body.
Avatar f tn I have a question. I was diagnosed years ago with Generalized Anxiety Disorder with Anxiety Attacks and Agoraphobia. I had a discussion tonight with a friend who keeps saying I do it to myself. I have had this along with a diagnosis of ADD as well as Bipolar 2 and then Clinical Depression. I was wondering if Anxiety is really something that can be controlled by the mind or if it really does need to be treated with medication?
Avatar m tn I have a generalized anxiety disorder and a phobia of HIV and rabies. I went to get my blood work down and the nurse used a vacutainer to draw blood. However, the vacutainer holder was reused ( the nurse confirmed it is only the needle which is changed and not the holder as it does not come into contact with the patient) and now I think I will get HIV and I keep thinking about HIV until I get tested again at 3 months after the window period. luckily I have medicines however I hate this.
Avatar n tn Therapy has done wonders for me to understand the way my mind processes anxiety symptoms and has taught me how to deal with them. Also the frequency of my panic attacks have decreased since going through therapy and coming to this forum has helped . My concern for you is your need for a Dr. you can trust. Maybe you should consider going to a Dr. that has a good reputation. Now take good care of yourself and keep us informed of how you are doing.

Avatar n tn Generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) is defined as chronic, excessive worry and fear that seems to have no real cause. Children or adolescents with generalized anxiety disorder often worry a lot about things such as future events, past behaviors, social acceptance, family matters, their personal abilities, and/or school performance. All children and adolescents experience some anxiety. It is a normal part of growing up.
Avatar f tn Generalized anxiety disorder for me is the same, except sometimes I feel like I'm dying when I wake up, and I get afraid over the smallest things.... I would like to feel normal..
Avatar m tn You can have generalized, and consistent symtoms of anxiety, called generalized anxiety disorder GAD, without having just panic attacks, or panic disorder. Your symtpoms sound a bit more on the severe or distressing side of anxiety disorders. My questions and suggestions would be, if this is the first time you are experiencing this, yes it could be anxiety, but go to the doctor urgently to be sure it's not serious.
Avatar m tn m intruding on your forum or not - please excuse me if I am, but...I was wondering, I was diagnosed as having generalised anxiety disorder following a major breakdown (no surprise there then!!) and after many drugs, ended up on pregabalin (600mg per day). This stabilised my anxiety, but now can't seem to feel a thing emotionally, not even my kids and other family members and friends.
Avatar m tn I have recently started taking pregabalin for GAD and I can honestly tell that it is a miracle drug for me. It has been a week now since I have started taking 50mg pragabalin after meal. All of my GAD symptoms have gone. I don't feel severe anxiety, constant restlessness (akathesia), social anxiety, muscle tension, depression, panic attack e.t.c. Before that I was taking Zoloft, Paxil, Wellbutrin for sexual side effects, Inderrall for heart palpitation and muscle relaxants everyday.
Avatar n tn I took it for Generalized Anxiety disorder, my mom still takes it for full blown panic attack disorder and both of us know it may help you fall asleep but it won't necessarily help you get quality sleep. Have you tried any alternatives? I understand by the way, I have depression, anxiety, PTSD, all kinds of fun stuff!
Avatar f tn The Zoloft might be the wrong med for you. Augmentation means adding medications to other medications. but the proper way to do this is only if the first med is actually working and you just need it to work better. If the Zoloft didn't work very well augmenting it isn't going to do the trick, you need to try a different first med. As for seroquel, I also advise people to check out this med for themselves.
Avatar m tn Are there other instances of anxiety and/or fear? If so, it is possible that your child is suffering from GAD - generalized anxiety disorder. Often this disorder "rears its ugly head" at about seven years of age. I might suggest you google the phrase "GAD in children" or "generalized anxiety disorder in children" or "behaviors of anxiety in children" or similar words or phrases to see if any of the descriptions remind you of your child.
Avatar n tn You are doing the right thing by getting everything checked to rule out other causes... however, in my experience, if someone thinks they have an anxiety disorder.. they probably do. Try not to worry about the test results too much. If it is something else than anxiety, you will be properly treated. If it turns out to be "nothing," you can get started with a treatment plan for your anxiety. All the best..
Avatar m tn GAD stands for Generalized Anxiety Disorder, not "EATING" disorder. Are you sure you're on the right forum? Many of your symptoms COULD be related to digestive/intestianl problems rather than "eating disorders," which we commonly think of as anorexia or bulimia The dry heaving, the nauses, the sharp pains in your chest and especially your abdomen and the loss of appetite.

Avatar n tn It sounds as if your son does have an anxiety disorder "of some kind". But that is not the end of the world. Anxiety in children is very common and is highly treatable. Our child was diagnosed with severe social phobia at six years of age and today is able to function normally and manage her fears and anxieties. The treatment of anxiety usually involves intervention, therapy and possibly medication. Please contact your family doctor for advice re this issue.
Avatar n tn I have the same problem. i was on xanax 6mg a day for a long time and almost went to rehab for them. I have bottles and bottles of them in my room and looking at them and remembering how they made me feel like a zombie, gives me the strength not to take them and say I don't need xanax to run my life. however to completely contradict what i just said, i switched to klonopin 4mg a day and i feel much more stable, even mood swings.
Avatar n tn Hi, As, I know about this drug than this drug is taken for anxiety disorder and also, this drug has been taken to decrease the Hot Flashes, and I am not finding that this medicine is use for brest cancer as, there are several other medicines that are used for this as, this is also called Pregabalin and this is a production of Pfizer.
