I have been suffering from depression since I was 16/17 years old (possibly far younger than that) and in later life (I am 41), have found anxiety a huge problem.
Also my problem is mainly GAD and mild depression has come with it. Currenlty, I am taking pregabalin for GAD. Wonder drug for me. I am little concerned with it side effects such as infertility and birth defects. Apart from that I am very happy with this med.
As with other conditions, medications that were originally invented for other purposes are useful for pain. This is true of gabapentin and pregabalin which were originally invented for seizures. Pregabalin is similar to gabapentin but has less side effects and often people who can not tolerate gabapentin benefit from pregabalin. However it is more expensive. Another medication, amitryptiline, was originally used for depression but is now a mainstay of treatment for neuropathic pain.
brain fog, short term and long term memory loss, depression etc are also seen. Treatment is only limited and directed to symptomatic relief. Anti seizure drugs like gabapentin, pregabalin, dopamine agonists like pramipexole, ropinirole, and cyclobenzaprine can be used to relieve skeletal muscle spasms. Consult your neurologist for evaluation of symptoms and appropriate therapy. Hope this helps. Take care.
I have sever depression, anxiety, and fibro. I am currently on Savella, which seems to have worked somewhat well for fibro and depression. Unfortunately, what I cant control is the anxiety. I cant work. The PA Ive been seeing for the last 18 years wont even give me ten xanax a month, so I can rarely go out. I dont know if increasing the Savella will help calm the anxiety or not?
Anyway I had already taperd of the night dose by cutting it and was on the half for the last 3 weeks (only for night dose) And before two days I have stopped the night dose fully. Prozac (fluoxetine) and Lyrica (pregabalin) (Moderate Drug-Drug) MONITOR: Central nervous system- and/or respiratory-depressant effects may be additively or synergistically increased in patients taking multiple drugs that cause these effects, especially in elderly or debilitated patients. MANAGEMENT: During concomitant use of these drugs, patients should be monitored for potentially excessive or prolonged CNS and respiratory depression.
I have anxiety/depression. Im gonna be helping my sis in law move into my basment. If i take adderall (amphatamine salts) will it trigger a panic attack since it makes you kina racey and my heart races already from anxiety?????? Honest opionions please....
You do need to be mindful that it can quickly become an issue of addiction and to prevent that I recommend treating your depression. Treating depression helps pain levels. Try to de-isolate and talk to your doctor re: the depression.
Lyrica (pregabalin) is a more potent form of gabbapentin, it is an anti convulsant drug, which is also used for neuropathic pain and generalized anxiety disorder. It can also have some serious side effects just like gabbapentin, which include depression, drowsiness, and suicidal tendencies. Not something I would want to run out and get for wd's. It must be carefully monitored by your Doc.
These include corticosteroids (like prednisone, which as actually helpful in MG, though it can initially worsen symptoms), neurontin (gabapentin), lyrica (pregabalin), topical lidocaine patches, and duloxetine (cymbalta) which can help with the depression as well. As you many know, pain causes depression and depression causes pain, so treatment of any underlying depression is important.
This is true of gabapentin and pregabalin which were originally invented for seizures. Pregabalin is similar to gabapentin but has less side effects and often people who can not tolerate gabapentin benefit from pregabalin. However it is more expensive. The same is true for medications such as amitryptiline, which was originally used for depression but is now a mainstay of treatment for neuropathic pain. However, it has several side effects and may not be used in patients with heart problems.
Hi, I suffer from anxiety/depression, and am currently on zoloft and klonopin. My doc has prescribed one anxiolytic after another, and each has caused some negative side-effect or the other. Now, he seems to be at a loss! I was wondering if someone here has taken Buspirone, and it has worked for him/her. Since it is not addictive, it seems to be a nice option, although it does say that patients who have been treated with Benzos respond poorly to it. Also, how about tandospirone?
- and this is an entirely understandable feeling to have - then I suggest organising to see a specialist for dealing with emotional side of trauma, such as a psychologist, or perhaps a psychiatrist (psychiatrists can prescribe medication for depression, anxiety, etc), or both. They can't stop your physical pain but they can assist you in getting on top of the worst emotional aspects.
How long has she been on Pregabalin? I took Pregabalin and it caused me severe depression. Could hers be related as well? Also long term opiate use can actually increase pain. Hyperalgesia, opiate induced pain. Some of our members have successfully tapered off of fentanyl. Hopefully they will post. Keep the faith.
4)Pregabalin (Lyrica). Pregabalin may reduce pain and improve function in people with fibromyalgia. Pregabalin, an anti-seizure medication that's also used to treat some types of pain, is the first drug approved by the Food and Drug Administration to treat fibromyalgia. Studies show pregabalin reduced signs and symptoms of fibromyalgia in some people. In one study, about half of the participants taking the highest doses of the drug reported at least a 30 percent improvement.
Central nervous system- and/or respiratory-depressant effects may be additively or synergistically increased in patients taking multiple drugs that cause these effects, especially in elderly or debilitated patients. MANAGEMENT: During concomitant use of these drugs, patients should be monitored for potentially excessive or prolonged CNS and respiratory depression.
i can't sleep for pain im exhausted along with depression and fibromyalgia. what should i do ? neurologist given me pregabalin and tried lamotrigine bot they don't work.
I can't get treated until I can cope w/ my depression better..when is better..when I can't put on a knee brace b/c of the tenderness,shooting pain..feeling helpless..
I have constant lower back pain, when walking, standing or bending, hips burn & pain, hurt to touch, have numbness, tingling & electric shock sensations in arms, numbness in legs, immobility of neck, fatigue & tiredness, loose balance at times, headaches, depression, sensitive to heat, have had tunnel or foggy vision at times, stiffness & pain on bending in knees,& numbness & swelling sometimes in one or both feet.
I stopped taking all of them immediately (shouldn't have done that) and replaced it with 50mg pregabalin. My doctor didnt prescribe pregabalin to me. I self medicated my self out of desperation. I don't no why all the doctors are is in love with SSRIs and SNRIs. They replaces one with other. For me SSRIs are useless as they make the problem even worst. Expecially long term side effect such as PSSD, infertility and some others have scared me off. FYI I have taken SSRIs for over 6 years.
The latter is a true medical condition whereby instead of a patient experiencing depression or anxiety, they experience physical symptoms, and once the stress is addressed, the symptoms resolve. Fibromyalagia is another medical condition that leads to whole body pains. These are just some causes of burning/tingling. If the symptoms persist you may need to have neuroimaging performed of your brain.
Also, Carbamazepine is used for the severe pain of Trigeminal Neuralgia. Carbamazepine, gabapentin, pregabalin (lyrica), and several others we use were developed as anti-seizure meds. Then they were discovered to have great effects on different kinds of pain - mostly neuropathic pain. I think of it this way. Pain come from unhappy and spazzing nerves. Thus, we can often treat them with happy medicine (anti-depressants) and anti-spazzy meds (seizure meds).
Lyrica does have weight gain as one of its side-effects. Why you would be gaining, without having eaten more, is something I can't answer. Perhaps it's more what you are eating than the amount of eating. Sorry that I can't be of more help in this area. You may check with your pharmacist as they have much knowledge about drugs and their interactions. I have not heard of anyone taking Topamax to contradict weight gain from Lyrica.
It is best treated with medications such as pregabalin and gabapentin, exercise, and physical therapy. Fibromyalgia occurs frequently in patients with chronic fatigue syndrome. If no cause of the condition is identified, it is best to look for other contributing factors such as anxiety or depression. However, this diagnosis is predominantly a diagnosis of exlusion meaning you should be evaluated for other possibilities.
Hi there. Maxgalin or pregabalin is used t otreat pain caused by nerve damage due to diabetes or shingles. In your case, this nerve pain could be due to diabetes, compression of lumbosacral nerve roots due to lumbar disc prolapsed or degeneration. The other two drugs, eliwel or amitriptilline and duzella or duloxetine are anti depressants given to you for the associated depression. Get an MRI lumbar spine to check lumbar disc prolapsed or degeneration. Consult a neurosurgeon soon. Take care.
brain fog, short term and long term memory loss, depression etc are also seen. Treatment is only limited and directed to symptomatic relief. Anti seizure drugs like gabapentin, pregabalin, dopamine agonists like pramipexole, ropinirole, and cyclobenzaprine can be used to relieve skeletal muscle spasms. Consult your neurologist for evaluation of symptoms and appropriate therapy. rule out connective tissue disorders like SLE, rheumatoid arthritis etc.Hope this helps. Take care.
I just had my first appointment with the pain clinic and apart from the consultant being the most ignorant person I,ve ever met , he just gave me a prescription for amtriptiline 25mg and lyrica 75 mg and I am to take these on top of what I am already taking. I also take citalopram for depression. I looked up the interactions of all of these and there are some major interaction between some of them. I am very nervous of starting them now if there are dangers to mixing them.
Most of us cannot prescribe or advise (we are not physicians), but I am aware of seemingly countless medications that are available. Those medications fall into "classes." Your Pregabalin is an "anti-seizure" medication which has been found to lower the nerves' ability to send pain signals -- that's why it's helpful to a lot of people with back/neck/nerve pain. Another class of medications are the "opiates" (like morphine, hydrocodone, codeine, etc.).
