1253197 tn?1331209110 I was on 1800mg a day and put on a stone over 4 months! I have now swapped to pregabalin and I am beginning to lose the weight. I changed drug because the Gabapentin was not controling my symptoms enough nothing to do with the weight gain, I am now on 400mg of Pregabalin and I am try to lose the weight I have gained so far I have lost half a stone in about three weeks. I know that there are many people who feel that Pregabalin also makes them put on weight.
15227985 tn?1439629482 I know dumb but that was the only way I could make them last, I mean I made 1last a month and the way I tapered was fine ,except I basically went to crumbs 2mondays ago and felt I was WD every day. It kept the rls away but when I jumped it came back. I was wondering would it hurt to take gabapentin for this only at night? I just don't wanna be going through a WD from anything else.
Avatar f tn I have RLS and take a low-dose mild opiate, it stops it cold, only have to increase dose every few years, but RLS is not the same as Dystonia, so your health issue may not resolve with opiates. I also take tranquilizers, those are powerful drugs and have to be used responsibly.

986593 tn?1283532211 Its for the rls and sleep. I had a taper thursday and the rls came on strong last nite. I have rls to begin with but the wd makes it even worse. I took a lyrica 75mg 1/2 hr before bed and my legs havent been so peaceful in years. Also it works for the sleep and even noticed my pain was better. The nice thing is its a non narcotic and none benzo. Still can be mentally addicted because the buzz you may get but I didnt notice anything but being a bit tired.

Avatar m tn Pregabalin is known as Lyrica in the States and is prescribed primarily to relieve neuropathic pain if you have diabetes or in the area of your rash if you have had shingles. It is also used to treat fibromyalgia. Pregabalin is used with other medications to treat certain types of seizures in people with epilepsy. Pregabalin is in a class of medications called anticonvulsants. It works by decreasing the number of pain signals that are sent out by damaged nerves in the body.
2107676 tn?1388973859 I am back on Effexor (which was hell to taper off of), and pregabalin and fighting hard not to take too much pregabalin to ease the withdrawals. Luckily I have been sleeping quite a bit but I'm awake now and feeling like hell. It just seems like I have been through a year of fighting not to go through this hell and here I end up again.
1438717 tn?1288349065 13 days and RLS is almost gone using Hylands RLS works pretty good

983008 tn?1329925830 Seen my Dr yesterday and he wanted to get in touch with the neurologist to try and bump my appt up. I asked him to wait as I only started the pregabalin yesterday and my appt is first week in January anyway.
Avatar n tn I think I know how those leg cramps feel like, I used to get them when I was pregnant and my doctor would say its b/c of low pottasium and she would tell me to eat bannanas, but my husband is on day 2 todays and he says he wants to cut off his legs
10354469 tn?1409533617 but it feels like i need to run them under cold water or i have to hold a cold water bottle and same thing with my feet. Is this part of fibromyalgia or is it something else? Any one else have this happen to them?
Avatar m tn I'm 21 and male. I was having arm pains which was caused by neck pain for bad posture on computer desk. So I went to the GP (general medicine) and he said the pain is for the neck, and it will go away and asked me to do some static neck exercise and swimming and prescribed 'Pregabalin m-75' to take for 1 month and stop.
Avatar f tn Thanks for that, Tuck. I've had a look through PubMed database to see if there have been scientific studies specifically on the question of tolerance, but without joy. As far as I can tell, the main assumption/claim is that because pregabalin is not known to be metabolically active (ie, the liver and body don't metabolise it into other molecules) the patient shouldn't develop tolerance. I am now a bit more sceptical of that claim.
1218873 tn?1300091216 Hi i wondered if anyone could explain there experience of Pregabalin (Lyrica?) i have been on Gabapentin for the last 3 months with only a little success (the twitches have reduced considerably) but no relief pain. Now the Dr is going to swap me to Pregabalin which has to be done slowly to switch from one to the other, so this will start as soon as I'm home from holiday. I wondered if anyone had done this and what there experience of the drugs are?
Avatar f tn Of course RLS, and RLS-type s/s related to w/d are two different things, but I personally think your doctor's way of trying to find out which you are experiencing is off. Since you're weaning, you're likely to experience the w/d r/t RLS and after the two weeks and you're done 'em, you're likely to experience them even more. I really don't think it's a good time to try to figure it out.
Avatar m tn i had a protected sex once with a girl , sex worker unknown status , the issue is that i kissed her mouth to mouth for like 2 minutes , and i had a minimal bleeding on my gum and at the end while i am pulling off .. the condom got out and slipped , that the top pines got touched with her fluid for brief seconds and i whipped directely . After a week i had a pain on the top of the pines , and i developed swallowing difficulty due to pharengitis as what gp said .
Avatar f tn For the past few months I've been experiencing aches and heaviness in my legs. These usually happens in the evening or while I'm sleeping. But I once move around it goes away. I've had RLS for the past 8-10 years and I don't take anything for it. Please help.
Avatar f tn It is probably the pain meds that is helping with the RLS. I also have RLS pretty bad and finally found a good med (carbidopa) that helps and has few to no side effects at the level that I have to take to control it. It seems to be a neurological concern. You are taking the pain meds when the endo flares up which in turn helps with RLS. However, be careful there is a whole forum here dealing with people addicted to pain meds. It is a fine line.
Avatar n tn ll know whether to adjust the oxygen saturation and pressure and/or adjust your RLS meds... sometimes Mirapex will indeed lose its effectiveness over time and need a change.
Avatar f tn Since I already have RLS, will I have to look forward to an increase in the severity of my RLS??? I am very worried. I take Requip (ropinirole) for RLS but it is not a total relief of it. RLS is hell as you dread going to bed, you dread movies, you dread airplanes as you know that your legs will instantly start to ache and you will have the compulsion to constantly move them to relieve the discomfort.
