Pregabalin and lyrica

Common Questions and Answers about Pregabalin and lyrica

lyrica

634733 tn?1316625992 Pat, I have taken both and neither one caused me to gain weight although the Lyrica caused an increase in cog fog and had to discontinue. On the plus side, the Lyrica was excellent at relieving neuropathic pain. I know everyone is different...I hope your experience is a positive one!
Avatar f tn Ive been on lyrica and nuvigil fro fibro pain and fatigue, and just found out I'm pregnant. I'm just wondering if anyone else has taken either one of those while pregnant. I've stopped them for i was on only 50 mg of lyrica and about 100 of nuvigil. but I'm still worried, and i feel like I've been hit by a train once again, the pain is almost unbearable, i know my doc personally, have an appt. with him for the 12th.
Avatar m tn Hello Papagarv1, Welcome. Sorry I am late in responding to your question. You've asked for no judgement - you won't get that from me. Very sadly ppl in chronic pain have been driven to all kinds sources to treat it. I don't condone buying opiates off the street, especially such a complex med like Methadone. Her risks are very very high! Please do your research. My concern is for her physical safety. Now I'll shut up and answer your question.
1253197 tn?1331209110 I was on 1800mg a day and put on a stone over 4 months! I have now swapped to pregabalin and I am beginning to lose the weight. I changed drug because the Gabapentin was not controling my symptoms enough nothing to do with the weight gain, I am now on 400mg of Pregabalin and I am try to lose the weight I have gained so far I have lost half a stone in about three weeks. I know that there are many people who feel that Pregabalin also makes them put on weight.
1218873 tn?1300091216 I think I have fewer side effects with pregabalin (Lyrica). Like I said, I couldn't take more than 300 mg of gabapentin at a time, without getting dizzy, no matter how slowly I increased. I take 100 mg of Lyrica (=~ 1200 mg of gabapentin, I think!) + 300 mg of gabapentin at the same time w/o getting dizzy.
Avatar n tn However i read that they were treating cancer patients with lyrica for their joint and bine pain ....Could you please let me know if it is safe for her to take lyrica for her fibromyalgia !!! Thank you so much for your time in this matter !!!
2107676 tn?1388973859 I am back on Effexor (which was hell to taper off of), and pregabalin and fighting hard not to take too much pregabalin to ease the withdrawals. Luckily I have been sleeping quite a bit but I'm awake now and feeling like hell. It just seems like I have been through a year of fighting not to go through this hell and here I end up again.
Avatar f tn If given a choice without cost factors pros and cons of Gabapentin versus Lyrica for long standing neuopathy pain in my back, legs and feet from surgery over 10 years ago...Any advise appreciated..
Avatar f tn Thank you for your comments Slightly broken: I will take a copy of the side effects to the neurologist and see what he says! Sarah: I tried Gabapentin but it made me feel very sluggish which is why it was changed to Pregabalin (Lyrica) I am seeing my neurologist in Feb '11 so will ask him what he thinks and will post feedback, this cant go on its making me feel down and very self conscious.
901222 tn?1399142874 s specifically for getting off opiates and I think it helps with pain a little too but I would try the lyrica first and see if that works. Hope this was helpful for you and good luck. Oh yeah don't get in methadone that's terrible for your body and at least for me when I got off methadone it was by far the worst withdrawal I've ever experienced. Good luck to you though.
Avatar f tn Central nervous system- and/or respiratory-depressant effects may be additively or synergistically increased in patients taking multiple drugs that cause these effects, especially in elderly or debilitated patients. MANAGEMENT: During concomitant use of these drugs, patients should be monitored for potentially excessive or prolonged CNS and respiratory depression.
1218873 tn?1300091216 Ask your dr if this is necessary. I switched last winter cold turkey. Both my neuro and my GP said this was fine. I was also told that the equivalent dose of Lyrica to 1800 mg of gabapentin (which is what I was taking) was 150 mg. So instead of taking 300 mg of gabapentin 6 times a day, I switched (all at once) to 50 mg of pregabalin.
Avatar f tn Have been diagnosed with fibromyalga. On lyrica. Could this frequent! Numbness and pain in my hands be from the lyric (side effect) or Could there be another issue? Do have herniated disc with causes a lot of back pain. Only 56 years of age, very active and would like to stay that way.
Avatar m tn so im nearly day 9 now and dont feel too bad at all apart from the odd sneeze.i used pregabalin for the pain and zopiclone too sleep at night.i live in uk and doctors here were i live are strict so we managed to buy a few here and there from street dealers.i know i was only on a low dose of subutex but i would preech to anyone to try this out if u can when about to start a subbie detox.thanks azza..
Avatar m tn Lyrica (pregabalin) is a more potent form of gabbapentin, it is an anti convulsant drug, which is also used for neuropathic pain and generalized anxiety disorder. It can also have some serious side effects just like gabbapentin, which include depression, drowsiness, and suicidal tendencies. Not something I would want to run out and get for wd's. It must be carefully monitored by your Doc.
Avatar f tn I saw that if a man fathers a child while taking Lyrica, the baby may have birth defects. My daughter's fiance' was just put on Lyrica and I read this. They will be getting married soon and will want to start a family within the next year. How conclusive and accurate is this statement? HELP!!!!
Avatar m tn Yesterday my doctor said to me that my first problem is GAD and not depression, so she prescribed Lyrica, 75mg in the morning and 75mg at night. I hope that this will finally works and i will be able to live again. So, has anyone got any experience of taking Lyrica/Pregabalin, on it's own just for GAD? Does it work? Any feedback would be really helpful.
10354469 tn?1409533617 but it feels like i need to run them under cold water or i have to hold a cold water bottle and same thing with my feet. Is this part of fibromyalgia or is it something else? Any one else have this happen to them?
210982 tn?1280983895 Hello! My Dr prescribed me Lyrica and I have been readin about this drug, but I can't seem to find anything telling me what is in it. Does anyone know the ingredients? I was told it was a non-narcotic drug but then the leaflet says that it can be addictive and do not stop immediately..blah,blah, blah...does anyone know what is in this stuff?
3122908 tn?1342154651 ll prescribe something else....keeping in mind that my pregabalin (Lyrica) is very expensive and SOME insurances do not cover it. If you are just tired of taking the medicine, that's up to you, but you will notice the pain again very quickly, within a day or two at most.
Avatar n tn Prescribed 20 mg prozac for 15 years because I suffered from panic attacks. During my 15th yr. at 20mg prozac I suffered a panic attack and Dr. upped my dose to 40 then 60mg. Did not have another panic attack, but could not overcome the anticipatory fear of having another attack. Dr. included 50 BID of Lyrica three weeks ago and I'm feeling normal again. Anyone have any experience with lyrica?

I've been taking TRAMADOL and PREGABALIN for about 4 years now but the pain is getting worse and meds aren't controlling it.Does anyone know of a medication or procedure for this disease that actually works!
Avatar m tn Yeah, lyrica is a nasty drug that raises peoples blood sugar and should be taken of the market."I was not a diabetic until i had taken the drug.
