Hey! I have this problem too. People told me that I had a yeast problem & I said "no way" because I thought yeast meant vaginal problems, which I do not have. I did not yeast can be thru-out your body. any way, for me, & only as a suggestion for you, I use SolarRay yeast-cleanse which you can buy at most vitamin shoppes but if you find it works for you let me know & I will look up where I buy mine for a 1/2 the price. After having a throat infection for 13 years (Lingual Tonsillitis which has irritated the hyoid bone), I found an ENT who diagnosed me and put me on a few medications to bring down the inflammation. I was put on Prednisone for 14 days, Augmentin and generic Prilosec/omeprazole 20mg. As of a week ago wed the inflammation was down 75% and I was feeling much better after being sick for so long.
s a pain to go and be seen when you have symptoms when you can buy otc yeast treatments but you are immunosuppressed with the long term prednisone so it's well worth proper testing to make sure you aren't having issues with a strain of yeast that needs more aggressive treatments too. they can send a swab off to the lab to check.
if you are prone to yeast issues in general, check into either fem dophilus by jarrow or rephresh proB ( forget that company name ).
oh you definitely need to go and be seen and get proper testing done. odds are you do have a vaginal yeast infection going on and since you've been on 3 antibiotics as well as steroids, I suggest oral diflucan, 1 dose now and then repeat in 72 hours and also consider a vaginal yeast treatment too.
It sounds like a yeast infection. Your dog will need antibiotics and a cleaning solution. It will NOT go away without the antibiotic, so please take him to the vet ASAP!

I have a 14 year old Cocker Spaniel, for the past 8 months I have been trying to get rid of a really bad case of yeast on his skin. The vet gave me a shampoo to use and prednison and he did blood work. He found out that his thyroid was low and he is now on medication for that also. Well it just dawned on me that I had severe asthma as a kid and I remember being on prednisone for a long time in addition to the inhalers. Over a week ago I had a bad sinus infection I was given a Z Pak and Prednisone ( this might have nothing to do with this but i am wondering if I am having a reaction to either one) I have been off of both meds for about 3 days now after completing them and yesterday rash started on my neck and upper chest. I’ve been struggling for the last few years on and off with what I thought was a persistent yeast infection. However, I’ve been tested many times and it always came back negative. I felt as my general practitioner was very dismissive of me, so I decided to try a STD clinic earlier in the year. Despite not being sexually active, they did the standard STD test on me as well as testing for yeast and I came back negative for everything.

I have been prescribed prednisone for a hearing loss issue today. Ive been und since July 2011. I have not yet taken my post tx vl test although all my blood work looks good. I was wondering if anybody has any info on this. I looked on past posts and found it all to be old and not real specific. Thanks ahead of time!!
