Avatar f tn I'm taking Prednisone for buzzing in the head/ear and it stops it. I was prescribed 1 20 mg tblet per day for 5 days. The awful buzzing stopped for 3 weeks after I used it for 5 days. Then it started again. So I went to ER and they said I had so much wax in my right ear that it was impacted and covering my ear drum so they cleaned it out. I had no buzzing for two days; also they prescribed the Prednisone again for 5 days. I took ONE AND REALIZED IT WORK IMMEDIATELY. The awful noise stopped.
559187 tn?1330782856 I was never on IVSM, but a course of prednisone gave me horrible acne all over my face and onto my neck and back. It did clear up just fine, I think in about 2 weeks most visible traces were gone. It was embarrassing, I went through this while at a conference and had to make a presentation at peak pepperoni face level. I didn't do anything to treat it, I just waited it out. I stuck with my usual: I don't wear any foundation, and use mild soap to wash my face.
Avatar f tn I am looking for help in regards to my 13 year old daughter. She has severe cystic acne for the past 7 months. The cystic acne was just beginning late last year in 2013. The oral antibiotics were of no further help so we started Accutane in Dec 2013. She had the terrible initial flare but it has not stopped!! She started out on Accutane 30mg twice a day and then bumped up to 40mg twice a day. Then dropped to 40mg once a day. She weighs about 155lbs.

Avatar m tn Prednisone was given to treat impingement in the left shoulder due to inflammation of the supraspinatus. Rash developed before the dosage of prednisone.
Avatar f tn Has anyone used prednisone to lessen methadone or other opiate withdrawal symptoms?
Avatar m tn Thank you for the reply. I would have never thought prednisone withdrawal would be so difficult. I am hangin' in there and staying positive. Thank you very much Foggy2. It seems the fatigue is the hardest to deal with. I have never experienced fatigue in such an extreme fashion. I am concerned with the last month which will be 1mg every other day. So far it seems I am just one of those people that do better dropping .5mg at a time. Now that I think back I should have been dropping.
507935 tn?1217359454 I never checked back with this thread--My daughter's blood work was showing positive for Lupus. She ended up in the hospital for many days because the dr. underestimated the problem. He thought--and still thinks that it was drug induced from minocycline, so after just a short course of steroids everything went out of control and the pain couldn't be controlled. So it's now November and she finally weaned off steroids 2 weeks ago.
Avatar m tn My 70 lb 12 year old golden retriever has a skin condition and was on Prednisone last year for about three weeks. She broke out with the same rash a few days ago, and (stupidly) instead of taking her to the vet, I gave her the same dosage of medicine that we had left over from the last time. I gave her 20mg in the morning, 20 in the evening, and then realized that I didn't have enough to complete the course for three weeks.
Avatar f tn I was dx just over a year ago and have had really bad acne for about 10 months now. I thought it may have been from the prednisone, but I have been off of that for 5 months now and it is not getting any better! Any idea what it is from? Is it from being hyper, tapazole or still from the steroids? Thanks for any help!
Avatar n tn Prednisone can cause acne. I had UC for ten years until I perforated and had my colon removed and a J-pouch built 16 years ago. My son has UC and moved onto the Imuran last year. He did have some acne with the prednisone too. He has been in a wonderful remission this past year and is so enjoying feeling healthy. The only change he continues to make is to leave dairy alone as he realizes he is lacto intolerant. I hope you will get the same success.
Avatar f tn I just searched online for -- prednisone acne -- and there were quite a few articles etc. You might get some good information -- let us know how you do, okay?
Avatar m tn Long story short, it exploded into a disgusting, pussing mess, and spread violently, so after steroid creams did nothing, I was put on prednisone, 50mg x 5 days. Cleared it up, but looks like it's going to scar (the "blisters" would turn hard, and pop when they rubbed on my jeans). As soon as I stopped the prednisone, I noticed a rash forming on my side.
Avatar f tn However, the prednisone accelerated the osteoarthritis in my knees and hips, and I am now trying to get off prednisone. And this is the real problem of prednisone. For most people with osteoarthritis in addition to whatever else, prednisone reduces healing in tissues that are inflamed (by reducing inflammation which is part of healing). This is not true for every kind of osteoarthritis..
Avatar f tn I was told and have used Peroxide on my acne several times a day. It helps. It is drying but better than acne. I have tried everything you mentioned too and I am too old to have acne. So I am curious about this.
975514 tn?1324997938 I was talking with my husband about prednisone. He has taken it off and on throughout his life for various joint inflammation. He has never had trouble coming off of it whether he was tapered off or not. I have had trouble each and every time I have been on it (for asthma related issues mostly). I always thought I was having "withdrawal" symptoms- horribly aching joints, pain, anxiety, sweats, something that sounds a lot like opiate withdrawal if you ask me.
Avatar n tn My daughter developed drug-induced autoimmune hepatitis after taking Solodyn for her acne. After a liver biopsy and a nine month course of prednisone she is much better and, hopefully, the autoimmune hepatitis has reversed. What did finally work for her is IPL (intense pulsed light) laser treatments. She had the treatments in May and her face is still, for the most part, clear of acne. And, it is drug free!
2048234 tn?1330814100 I was put on prednisone for my lungs. its a 7 day treatment but I am reading its very addictive. what do I do? I dont want to get addicted to anything else.
1716896 tn?1308880762 I was taking 20mg prednisone twice daily for 3 weeks, and my last dose was monday night. Today is Thursday, and I am developing an itchy rash over my whole body, do you think it is related? Also, my heart rate is also 104 at rest and I have a dull headache.
Avatar f tn Hi huni2, I have asthma too. My doctor prescribed two types of inhalers for me. One of the medications is called Pulmicort. This medication I use once is the morning and once at night. The other medication is called Bricanyl Turburhaler. Some people also call it a " puffer" or an " inhaler". The Bricanyl I am instructed to use as needed, not every day. I can understand why you are hesitant or scared to take prednisone.
