Avatar m tn A few years ago, I was put on Prednisone to help with chronic sinus infections. I noticed within 10 days COMPLETE relief from all of my Lyme symptoms (pain, visual disturbances, skin issues and HAIR LOSS). I could see my hair growing back in. I did a search recently that eluded to Prednisone being capable of regrowing hair IF the cause is from an infection. I know Prednisone can regrow hair if the cause is bacterial or fungal... I don't know if it's capable if it's viral?

Avatar f tn I'm new here because I have been taking oxycodone due to knee surgery. I am taking 3--15 mg a day, that's what I thought but my husband corrected me on that because after my last surgery the dr. changed it to 30mg a day and told me to break it in half. Green or blue pills--I wasn't paying much attention becuase I was trying to get mobile again and off the crutches. I'm walking on my own and off all other medicine. The dr.
Avatar f tn Hello all, I haven't posted for a long time. I was wondering the difference (strenghtwise) between oxy & hydromorphcontin ( long acting). I was on hydromorph last year and switched to oxycontin & oxy IR this spring in an attempt to keep overall dosages down. The oxy seemed to escalate quite rapidly vs increases needed when I was on hydromorph products. Which is stronger? Which is slower to build up tolerence to? Is it different for different people?

Avatar n tn I have tried morphine, oxycodone, fentanyl and subutex (same as suboxone) and while the traditional opiates take the edge off (maybe a 20% reduction in pain with 100 mg morphine and 30 mg oxycodone) I experienced complete relief from crippled to fine with 2 mg of subutex. Narcotics are not indicated for RA at all, according to my rheumatologist and everything I see online. They are not very effective either.
Avatar f tn The argument over use of oral prednisone is long-standing. The answer is yes, use of oral prednisone definitely predisposes a person to new infections, both viral and bacterial. That being said, once a given strain of flu is defeated natural antibodies prevent re-infection with that exact strain. It's like getting a vaccination. With oral prednisone the problem is risk vs. benefit. Prednisone affects different people in different ways.
Avatar f tn Methadone will not interfere with absorption or function of Oxycodone. You may be thinking of another drug. Many ppl find great relief with Methadone.... Indeed there are some interesting articles that praise benefits of Methadone in Pan Management. So relax and enjoy a restful night's sleep. :o) If you have additional question please feel free to post them...... we'll try to be helpful!
Avatar n tn She was given steroid and antibiotic injections. Also given Baytril and Prednisone to take home and give daily. She gets Prednisone 20mg 3 times a day. She began heavy breathing on day 2 of the med and also seems to have belly bloating. Is this normal? I called my Vets office and all they said was to bring her in to get seen. But, we have already spent $1300 in one week alone on vet bills. Help!
Avatar f tn I refuse to take the prednisone but my doctor says it is the first choice since IVIG are so expensive. I would rather go with the IVIG by IV's than do another dose of prednisone. I wish I knew if EBV caused my low platelet count and what would be my options to raise them to normal count which is 150,000.
608104 tn?1352587153 I am a 70 year old woman with ADHD. My brain is aging along with the rest of me. With the help of the prednisone and a Z pak for a secondary infection and convalescence, the respiratory problems are gone, but I'm coping with the side effects of the prednisone including agitation, mood swings, greater distractibility, disorganization, incredible appetite increases, and gastritis.
Avatar m tn She had to go on Prednisone because the Cushings meds worked too well, but the Prednisone made her worse. Good ;luck in trying to find the right dosage and meds, its really hard.
Avatar m tn The patient is 28 years old, was diagnosed ITP 4 years ago, had been treated with Prednisone several times, each time from several months to 1 year. The patient had an unsuccessful pregnancy one year ago. The main questions from the patient are: 1) Is it safe for the patient to get pregnant? What's the minimum platelet level requirement during pregnancy? 2) If during the pregnancy the patient needs to be treated, is Prednisone safe at a low dose?
Avatar m tn Hi JJ- if you google prednisone and hair loss you will find many interesting links to the topic. It appears that complaints about hair loss are near the top of the list of side effects reported with extended prednisone use..... Something about it changes the hormone levels. the good news is it seems it is not a permanent problem - the hair recovers after the prednisone is stopped.
793908 tn?1294705109 The signs of which may include GI upset- anorexia, vomiting, diarrhea- decreased ability to respond to stress and others. Prednisone (essentially synthetic cortisol) is often sent home with clients with instructions to be given if signs such as these develop. Some vets may prescribe it at a low dose prophylactically. The goal is to control cortisol production without allowing it bottom out. Hope that helps!
Avatar n tn Hello Clsmith, Oxycodone 5mg is not stronger than Oxycodone 10mg with acetaminophen. The acetaminophen has nothing to do with the strength of the oxycodone. However as suggested above it may be that her physician is concerned about the long term effects of acetaminophen. The mind is powerful. I believe in being truthful with ppl especially when it comes to their health care. I wouldn't encourage you to lie to her but if she doesn't ask you're not being untruthful. And Peek...

Avatar m tn I found out last night I was pregnant 9/9/15 and obviously know I have to stop but scared of withdrawals. I took 15mg of just oxycodone today but broken into 4 pieces thrughout the day to try to start to wien myself down. I was asking if this is the right way to do this tapering not to harm the baby I would love to not take any while pregnant but can not just stop cold turkey.
Avatar f tn Here recently my back pain has been so severe I cant walk or get out of bed. My OB doctor prescribed me Tylenol With Codiene 30 mg tablets and than Oxycodone 5 mg tablets. I took my Tylenol with Codiene 30mg tablets for my pain because I couldn't sleep. Than 45 minutes later I took my oxycodone 5mg tablets. I had forgot I took my Tylenol with Codiene prior to taking my oxycodone. Will taking both of them harm my baby?? I'm in nervous wreck.
