OMG.....a majority of my worst itching episodes are in the middle of my back too. It is enough to drive you crazy when you can't reach the spot. I use a back scratcher too and have already torn my back open because the itching was so intense. I have yet to find a cream that works either. Old age? I don't consider 40's old (will be 41), but my joints sure feel old. Does the chiropractor help with the knee pain? I have never gone to one. They kind of scare me....

I'm 52 years old and have been dealing with periods of rapid weight gain (anywhere from 2 days to 2 weeks) for nearly 4 years. My worst are 16 pounds in 3.5 days and 12 pounds in 2 days. If a person has an underactive thyroid is it certain they will gain weight? Obviously they need to be careful what they eat and exercise but does it make it more difficult to maintain? If you take steroids this is your problem. My son has craniopharyngioma and the steroids (Prednisone and Cortef) made him gain a lot of weight and he can not loose it. It is not you it is the medicine doing this to you and my heart bleed for you.
