Before giving these meds, I would call your vet and make sure this other dog doesn't have any contraindications to steroids. Steroids are not benign in many situations and other health conditions...I can't give info on giving meds to animal that it is not prescribed for so, your vet may be able to give the advice if he/she has seen the other dog. Does your other dog have any health conditions that you know of? How old is it?
I have heard that statement numerous times about being weaned off of Prednisone. Why were you taking Prednisone? I am trying to avoid the use of it if possible.
I just went to the doctor very sick with congestion, fever, cough, nasal drip, sinus pressure. She told me she thought I might have COPD, and if things did not clear up she also gave me a prescription for Prednisone. I told her I do not want to take it, but she gave me the prescription anyhow in case I needed it.

this concerns me, if what you mean is PREDNISONE (the canine variety of prednisolone). How long has your dog been taking prednisolone? This is a very powerful drug that should not be given long term. It can cause some severe and very damaging side-effects. Prednisolone does not cause or treat seizures, but it can create some severe symptoms and primaryt conditions that can lead to a dog having seizures.
hello , I had an exposure 11 weeks ago and used prednisolone between weeks 8 to 11 , and after that got a negative ag/ab elisa hiv test . (11 weeks after exposure) . my question is that :as prednisone is an immunosupressant , could it hide my hiv antibodies ? if yes , how about hiv ag ?

I did a search recently that eluded to Prednisone being capable of regrowing hair IF the cause is from an infection. I know Prednisone can regrow hair if the cause is bacterial or fungal... I don't know if it's capable if it's viral?

My 70 lb 12 year old golden retriever has a skin condition and was on Prednisone last year for about three weeks. She broke out with the same rash a few days ago, and (stupidly) instead of taking her to the vet, I gave her the same dosage of medicine that we had left over from the last time. I gave her 20mg in the morning, 20 in the evening, and then realized that I didn't have enough to complete the course for three weeks.

It is a good idea to try to taper down to one medication only, I agree. The prednisone could possibly be a cause of increased pressure - so that is one thing the doctor needs to keep in consideration and perhaps getting off the prednisone might help your pressure also.
Ive been on prednisolone 30mg for 3 weeks and also IV for 3 days ! Ive now been put up to 60mg for 2 weeks and my face as already started to go moon face ! It is making me so down ! I've always been bothered by my weight and now I look like someone else ! Ive been reading posts and didn't relise that moon face could come on that quick ! I'm also worrierd by the amount of peolple that have said that onve they start to lower the does their flare ups come back !

This did not work either, so the ivomec was increased to 2ml and a treatment of 5mg prednisolone was given for one week along with a treatment of 1 biotin daily. At first this seemed to help but after she came off of the prednisolone she started to lose hair again and the flakes started again. My vet then advised me to give her a constant dose of the prednisolone i.e 1 tablet every other day. This did not work.The yellow flakes are now all over her body and she scratches all night.
