Avatar f tn My situation and reaction is so similar to yours, however I have not been on prednisone or any other oral steroid. I had cortisone injections in both knees at the same time. One had a slight reaction but was great by the second day. The other was extreme like in your case. I have a very high pain threshold but the pain was so intense that my family and I gave great consideration to going to the ER. I experienced swelling, pain and lack of mobility.
Avatar m tn Next, they want to do injections of cortisone. My question is, of I had a reaction to prednisone, would I have the same with cortisone? I was anxious, nauseous, dizzy, tingling all over my body. Itbwas the worst experience of my life. I had a cortisone inkection in multiple spots in my face before because some areas hair wouldn't grow. It wasn't too much though and I never had side effects. Feedback is great guys I just feel like an old lady right now.
458072 tn?1291415186 I told the dr about the elevated cortisol levels and my concern with taking prednisone, but he said it would be no problem. Now, this is a ENT doc so I am doubting he even knows about elevated cortisol. Do any of you have any info you could pass along or websites that I could check into this? I have googled high cortisol+prednisone and came up with nothing, really. Thanks!
1248650 tn?1268831564 I have had two episodes of CSR, which were (fortunately) resolved with just a minor change in my prescription for glasses. Both episodes followed either prednisone or cortisone use, so my retina specialist said, "No more steroids of any kind." So I'm wondering whether there are any alternatives for cortisone injections, since I am now suffering from issues that previously were resolved via cortisone. Thanks for any help you can provide!
620048 tn?1358018235 I use to get bronchitis a lot. If my oxygen level was below 90 my PCP would give me a cortisone shot, inhaler, and prednisone pills to take. Cortisone is a powerful anti-inflammatory and can be very helpful in reducing inflammation. There are some risks in taking it as with any medication.
Avatar f tn Hundreds of people are getting this itchy rash. I got rid if it with a cortisone shot and 6 days of prednisone. I also covered it in Laisil and cortisone cream.
Avatar f tn I had unprotected vaginal sex with a girl this 31 of December, later since I had to do a nose-surgery on the 19 of January my doctor prescribed me cortisone (Bentelan 0.5 mg) two pills for day for two weeks and one for one week, ending the therapy on the 17 of February. Later At the 100th day after exposure I had a Ab Hiv 1/2 test result absents! On the 126th day I took another test antibodies only and the result was negative!
Avatar f tn I took prednisone long term and othre than looking and feeling like a blow fish it didn't affect me.
Avatar f tn This will be the hardest part. Usually, at the beginning, an anti-inflammatory such as prednisone (oral - 20-25 mg per 100 lbs)) is administered, or Ibuprufin. The traction devices cost $35-$40 U.S. Throw away the water bag and set up the bar and rope so as to gently suspend yourself from a hook fastened in the bean of a doorway and gently lower yourself above a chair until you no longer feel discomfort. Don't fully suspend yourself. Muscle relaxants are contraindicated.
Avatar f tn i am looking at getting cortisone shot for possible carpel tunnel, i have had 4 months of painful swelling that wont go away. doc wants me to get the injection. problem is , i had a severe reaction in hospital when they gave me prednisone not sure how much they gave me but i went from my normal self to someone no one reconized.i wanted to kill someone..i was severley aggressive which is nothing like me.my question is ...would it be possible to have the same reaction to cortisone..
461838 tn?1255790216 I am on and off prednisone and can never sleep when I am on it. It is a great drug for healing but can cause insomnia.
Avatar n tn I have a bad case of bronchitis which regular antibiotics did not help. My lung doctor gave me 15 days of prednisone (cortisone) which is helping slowing. (I'm on day 4) I definitely have insomnia but that seems to be the only side effect.
Avatar f tn All they found was the tendonitis. About 6 months ago, I had to take prednisone for an unrelated injury and that cleared up the tendonitis as well. I am still left with a wrist that doesn't work properly. I have tried bracing, anti-inflammatories, and different exercises. My ortho has given up. He doesn't know what is causing it. Any ideas?
1558471 tn?1331222035 ve also heard of oral prednisone reducing PVCs. Oral prednisone I think becomes cortisone when taken orally or at least they are very similar.
Avatar n tn Can a cortisone shot cause some kind of reaction (swelling) at the base of my throat. I take pred nisone from time to time for my asthma and I use a steroid inhaler so I am kind of suprised.
Avatar f tn It was so severe that I did a two week course of Prednisone. When I went off the Prednisone, the rash came back immediately in all the same places so the Dr. prescribed another 3 week higher dosage (he had thought it was poison ivy initially but I disagreed wholeheartedly but still went along with the treatment). After the 3 week course, as I predicted, the rashes came back right away. I now have an armpit rash and this arm rash.
Avatar n tn ) Is there anything besides Prednisone? I was on 5mg of Prednisone earlier this year (in place of Imuran), but my liver enzymes were very bad according to the lab work I had done at the time. Would a higher dose of Prednisone be an option? Is that also harmful to a developing baby? Thank you for your help!!
Avatar f tn Just know that oral prednisone does have a lot of side effects and maybe some cortisone injections would be an option too? The cortisone injections to directly to the source of pain where as the prednisone works systemically. Hope you can find some relief soon!
341655 tn?1240368839 I was recently diagnosed with adrenal insufficiancy and have been on prednisone 10mg and florinef .01mg 3 x's per day and I was wondering what happens if you get the stomach flu and are unable to take these meds by mouth? will you have to go in daily for steroid shots or a picc line and do them at home?
Avatar f tn Last week, a lesion of sorts appeared on that leg after a couple of days of itching. The spot continued to grow and there was little relief of itching with cortisone creams, etc. He saw a doctor on Tuesday who said possible vasculitis, but couldn't be sure. Prescribed a steroid cream and compression socks. Yesterday morning, he woke to the rash considerably larger, darker red, more itchiness and some spreading to the other ankle and shin.
1378884 tn?1315505845 I also have a workplace injury, fell on sacrum and R hip last November. I am starting a course of prednisone for 30 days. Never had problems with hip, (pain is radiating to my foot) or back until I fell. Is the Doc trying to rule out RA or Osteo for my R hip? I understand that prednisone is a inflammation reducer and autoimmune suppressor. He found a deposit on the bone near hip as well. MRI tomorrow too.
