Avatar f tn I was on prednesone years ago in the hospital via IV and the medication caused 20 side effects. Recently I've had a flair up, and I'm taking tumeric and curcumin, garlic, antioxidants capsules/tablets. I would see a naturopathic doctor in your area.
Avatar n tn When lung function is compromised or vital organs, such as the heart or eyes, are involved with the disease, treatment with steroids is strongly recommended. The risk of side-effects from steroids must carefully be weighed against the possibility of permanent damage to your lungs or other organs. Good luck.
Avatar m tn I have allergies and also live in Louisville, KY which is notorious for pulmonary problems. Can allergies and/mold exacerbate the sarcoidosis effects?
Avatar f tn If they flare agin after weaning down drops I will have to go on Methotrexate which can have some not so nice side effects. I have been fighting to stay off it. Docs want me to give it a chance because I may get rid of fatigue and aches. So still in limbo. You take care.
Avatar m tn Why can't we find a cure for SARCOIDOSIS? Why is there not more awareness for this terrible disease? It has affected my husbands liver. He now has cirrhosis and needs a liver transplant. He can't tolerate prednisone very well. What other drugs could be used? Are there any Sarcoidosis doctors in the Cleveland Ohio area?
Avatar f tn Treatment for sarcoid is generally not done unless the risks to his life are greater than the side effects from the treatment. Prednisone is most commonly prescribed as a "first response" treatment to sarcoid, and it is not fun to be on at all. I'm experiencing just about all of the side effects and none of them are terribly easy to deal with. If his sarcoid isn't bad enough to justify living with the Prednisone side effects, they won't treat it.
Avatar f tn I am also diabetic @ bood sugars are higher than usual is this a side effect of prednisone, have 3 more days on prednisone should I stop?
Avatar m tn t put in words my aggravation. I also suffer side effects of the prednisone I had to take for 14 months. Prior to the clinical trial I was in excellent health. After the first injection, my heath went down the drain, and has been there since May 2007. I was told of the risks involved, but I was also told that any adverse effect, the sponsor would provide medical costs for treatment.
Avatar n tn Those sound like normal side effects of prednisone. Nasty drug but can save a dog's life. My golden has been taking 50mg daily for 2 months and the side effects are horrible.

Avatar n tn I've noticed that after 3 months of daily prednisone that I have developed hair on my upper lip and jaw line. Has anyone else experienced side effects like this? I don't see how it will go away on it's own. How do you treat unwanted facial hair? This is quite upsetting to me. Thanks!
341655 tn?1240368839 they are icky...i've gained 20lbs in 5 months, grown facial hair and haven't had a good night's sleep in months which has led to depression and anxiety issues.
Avatar f tn Prednisone is a very, very powerful drug, so good and bad side effects. It shuts down your own adrenal system at anything over 5-7 mg a day I believe it is, so a whole bunch of psychiatric side effects are possible. Myself I was revved up, lots of energy, very out of it though and then horrible anxiety when they tried to taper me off - really painful. So welcome to the loonie club and we can all support each other....

Avatar f tn Do you think this could be sarcoidosis? and Can you have both lupus and Sarcoidosis? My father has some sx also seem to fit. Would either parent have to have it for me to have it? Seems like all females in my family have health issues. Aunt with sever Rheumatoid Arthritis. Is there any genetic testing that can be done to see if this could be my health issues? Both my parents are still living but are 79 and 80yo. Any suggestions??
Avatar m tn She told me that she had taken the steroid 3 different times for life or death situations and saved her life every time but left her with this crazy side effects. She told me every time she took it, the side effects left her within 32 days exactly but for me it didn't go away for months, and I sometimes still feel weird like the side effects but my aunt said this could just be stress or my mind playing tricks but either way I don't like it.
505094 tn?1240317431 re confused and fearful. Have you looked up the side effects of progesterone? I was on that years ago and couldn't tolerate it, but for the life of me I can't remember what happpened. Like you, I too have been on loads of meds. In your place I would ask as much as you can during your biopsy, and would also bombard your PCP with questions. He or she should be guiding you through all of this. The stress factor makes things incredibly worse.
608104 tn?1352587153 5 days 30mg; 5 days 20 mg; 5 days 10 mg. As I got better, side-effects were worse than the illness. Gastritis required re-starting sucralfate at least at bedtime, agitation and mood swings limited my cognitive function. I limited my driving because of distractibility. I'm 70 with ADHD. This is the second time I've followed the pulmonologist orders for the prednisone with side effects worse than the URI. I meet with my primary doctor today for post-infection followup.
Avatar m tn I am concerned that I might be on prednisone again fairly soon, and would like some advice. The reasons I have been on prednisone include sarcoidosis and autoimmune hemolytic anemia and ITP. I also have CLL and my IGG/IGA/IGM are low. For years I have been diagnosed with Mixed Connective Tissue Disease, but recently my ANA has been normal, after 15 years of being elevated. I consider hypothermia an oral temp less than 94; they have been as low as 89.
