Avatar f tn I had checked a few weeks ago for the side effects of prednisone and some of them are exactly the symptoms I was having prior to the prednisone - tingling, numbness. Kind of cracked me up! But I don't think that would explain the L'hermittes getting worse and the fact that the tingling and numbness are still where it was before, just worse. I'll definitely be happy to be off the prednisone - only 10 more days!
Avatar f tn I am also diabetic @ bood sugars are higher than usual is this a side effect of prednisone, have 3 more days on prednisone should I stop?
Avatar f tn *I WISH A DOCTOR WOULD WRITE IN AND COMMENT ON THESE POSTS - WE COULD REALLY USE SOME ADVISE HERE !!!!!" I have heard from enough people who have had these same side effects on Singulair about their arms and legs hurting and feeling numb and tingling that I would ask her doctor if there is anything else she could try. From what I am learning there are other things to try that don't have these side effects! ALSO - PREDNISONE CAN CAUSE TERRIBLE MOOD SWINGS, and MENTAL CHANGES!!!
Avatar n tn Those sound like normal side effects of prednisone. Nasty drug but can save a dog's life. My golden has been taking 50mg daily for 2 months and the side effects are horrible.
1523893 tn?1301579774 Actually, 25 tablets of 50mg Prednisone = 1250mg total per day That is the equivalent of one and a quarter grams per day since 1000mg=1 Gm We don't usually see the docs using pills rather than an IV for short term, large dose steroid treatment of MS exacerbations but it does happen. Many people here have mentioned feeling worse before they get symptom improvement with steroid treatment. Sumana is right that Prednisone will cause fluid retention.
Avatar n tn I've noticed that after 3 months of daily prednisone that I have developed hair on my upper lip and jaw line. Has anyone else experienced side effects like this? I don't see how it will go away on it's own. How do you treat unwanted facial hair? This is quite upsetting to me. Thanks!
Avatar n tn I've been dealing with gerd issues for the last half year. Colonoscopy and endoscopy were negative. I did do a series of rolling barium stomach xray which did show my stomach was on a roller coaster ride. I've been on most of the meds for gerd, from Zantac to Nexium to Lansoprazole to Pantoprazole. In December I started to develope numbness in my left foot and right hand. (Last night I noticed my left anke was swollen.
Avatar f tn Hi, Thanks for responding but this didn't really answer my question. I am being treated for the headaches & ear pain w/ the Prednisone. I am wanting answers on what could be causing my headache & ear pain. I am aware of the side effects of Prednisone.
Avatar f tn Prednisone is a very, very powerful drug, so good and bad side effects. It shuts down your own adrenal system at anything over 5-7 mg a day I believe it is, so a whole bunch of psychiatric side effects are possible. Myself I was revved up, lots of energy, very out of it though and then horrible anxiety when they tried to taper me off - really painful. So welcome to the loonie club and we can all support each other....
Avatar f tn was red and flushed only on head neck and face.....nowhere else......was told prednisone side effect....but being riddled with panic disorder I checked latuda site......rare but deadly side effect called nms...neuropaletic malignant syndrome.....symptoms are. Excess sweating,Bp changes, heart beat changes, rigid muscles confusion, fever, breathing changes......says if have any of these to call needs treatment in hospital......is this thing I'm going thru nms?
Avatar m tn She told me that she had taken the steroid 3 different times for life or death situations and saved her life every time but left her with this crazy side effects. She told me every time she took it, the side effects left her within 32 days exactly but for me it didn't go away for months, and I sometimes still feel weird like the side effects but my aunt said this could just be stress or my mind playing tricks but either way I don't like it.
505094 tn?1240317431 re confused and fearful. Have you looked up the side effects of progesterone? I was on that years ago and couldn't tolerate it, but for the life of me I can't remember what happpened. Like you, I too have been on loads of meds. In your place I would ask as much as you can during your biopsy, and would also bombard your PCP with questions. He or she should be guiding you through all of this. The stress factor makes things incredibly worse.
608104 tn?1352587153 5 days 30mg; 5 days 20 mg; 5 days 10 mg. As I got better, side-effects were worse than the illness. Gastritis required re-starting sucralfate at least at bedtime, agitation and mood swings limited my cognitive function. I limited my driving because of distractibility. I'm 70 with ADHD. This is the second time I've followed the pulmonologist orders for the prednisone with side effects worse than the URI. I meet with my primary doctor today for post-infection followup.
Avatar n tn I have tried many medications over the last 40 years , but no others work the same . Prednisone has a few Side Effects , but not as many as some others . The last experiment was Lyrica , think "very carefully" about this one , it didn't work with me , the Side Effects are extreme and "won't go away".
Avatar f tn Can low dose prednisone help with mild flare ups like numbness in leg and burning sensation related to relapse remissive ms ? I've had flare ups a couple times sincey official dx in march. It sea to help after. Few days I need some guidance I had trouble walking on Friday and left work early. My doctor said to take a 5mg prednisone and elevate it. It didn't help I tried to reach him but couldn't so I took 5mg 3 x a day last 3days and twice today.
1807991 tn?1438779770 My side effects from prednisone have been anxiety, panic attacks, metal taste in mouth, sound intolerance, smell intolerance, communication disability, bladder infection feeling, rashes on vagina, even started a period like during tx, ( mentapause for 6 years) ...has anybody else had anything similar happen to them when given another drug regiment or am I alone on this one?
Avatar f tn Hi again. Do you mean that you fear side effects from this dose of Prednisone that you didn't get from much larger doses of the IV? Could you say why this is? Actually, IVSM is intravenous methylprednisolone, and it's considerably stronger than just Prednisone, even at the same dosage (as I learned a few weeks ago when we had quite a discussion here about this). So you've had much more of this than you'd thought.
Avatar f tn Since then I have had only nominal relief in my sensory symptoms, which sound similar to yours. I had entire left side numbness (shoulders to toes) and dysthesia in my L hand and arm. I have the same feeling in my L hand; tightness like the circulation is cut off. Paradoxically, I find wrapping the area snugly with a compression bandage to provide some temporary relief. An ice pack seems to help too, albeit also temporarily.
Avatar m tn Hi, a short course of prednisone is unlikely to cause withdrawal effects. Corticosteroid use causes a rise in blood pressure and increases fluid retention. But this is usually for long term usage. So, the changes noticed may not be related to this therapy. Regards.
Avatar f tn I was dx with MS in 2004 (first symptom was vision loss in 2000- no lesions/second symptom vision blurriness 2 lesions - lumbar puncture confirmed 2 oligoclonal (sp?) bands). This week I was newly dx with Neuro-Sjogrens. Bloodwork, Schirmer's and lip biopsy all showed positive. Dr. says I prob. never had MS but more likely it was always Sjogren's. Does Sjogren's present with the vision loss as a primary symptom?
Avatar f tn Hi, as far the present symptoms are concerend, probably they are due to prednisone only. Verapamil is the drug given in prophylaxis of migraine but it can not abort the attack once it get started. May be you need to taper the dose of prednisone as this drug is never withdrawn instantly. Do consult doctor for side effects.
Avatar f tn I know it is the side effects but was wondering if anyone has any ideas for relief of it. My back hurts as well I do use a heating pad on it and sometimes it helps but the neck, shoulders, and stomach are so uncomfortable. Does anyone do anything that helps with this?
