Avatar f tn I would think there would be interest in tracking people with with these long term stubborn and debilitating side effects (symptoms) for research. All of this may not be common but it definitely is not uncommon. Not looking to place blame, neither do I like the all too quick finger pointed at my mental health, attitude, and every other excuse or explanation other than the possibility of long term side effect of chemo.
Avatar m tn Obviously, you want to be on the prednisone for as short a time as possible to avoid long term side effects. However, NOT being on it is sometimes not an option. Everyone is different and can/will react to medications differently - and the side effects that one person experiences may not affect someone else with the same medication and dosage. So, unfortunately, it' simpossible for someone to tell you how long you can be on th eprednisone before side effects starting taking their toll.
Avatar n tn I can find plenty of information that warns against long term or widespread use of potent topical steroids, but I have yet to find any actual definition of long term or widespread use. I have several 15g tubes of Desoximetasone 0.25% Cream, but I am worried about possible absorption and systemic side effects since I saw that it is classified as a Class 2 or Potent topical steroid.

Avatar f tn Hi, so sorry to hear about your diagnosis and long term pred use. It really is a nasty drug. I have also had problems with swelling at the end or after coming off the stuff. I have talked with several other people who have had the bloathing last over a month after stopping the medicine. I have found that drinking LOTS of water is helpful. I hope your side effects go away quickly. God bless.

446896 tn?1237802742 I usually have anxiety, but the last 14 days I have had unbelievable restlessness, panic, insomnia, severe heart palpitations/tachycardia, face swelling, etc. I have spoken to my nurse and two pharmacists who say that these are indeed side effects of prednisone, and that they should get better once I stop the medication. However, I have heard from others that these side effects sometimes persist after the medication is stopped.
1154802 tn?1266485720 I have been prescribed prednisone to help keep my asthma under control twice in the past three months. I've noticed there are a lot of bad side effects (as there is with any drug I suppose) and I know most of them are from long-term use and ten days isn't really long term use, but they still worry me! I'm on a preventer (symbicort), two puffs morning and night. But I still find I'm using my Ventolin at least 5 times a day (bad, I know!!

Avatar n tn I've noticed that after 3 months of daily prednisone that I have developed hair on my upper lip and jaw line. Has anyone else experienced side effects like this? I don't see how it will go away on it's own. How do you treat unwanted facial hair? This is quite upsetting to me. Thanks!
