Hey all Are any of you using Prednisone to control the side effects of Avonex. My Nuero suggested I try taking 10mg 1 hour before the shot and another 10 mg 2 hours after the shot to control the Flu symptoms. Any advice?
Hmmm, not everyone's side effects will be the same. In fact, you may not really have any side effects that you notice. My side effects were: racing heart - I lost about 5 lbs in 3 days. skin sensitive to the touch. feeling like I was beat up with a baseball bat on my back. shaking. and feeling like my achilles tendon was going to rip off. Just try to relax and take it easy. I hope all goes good for you.
Nervousness. Irritability. Sweating. Nausea. Headache. Dry mouth. Constipation. Sleep problems. Possible addiction. What To Think About Phentermine is no longer marketed in Europe due to a possible association with heart and lung problems.1 It is not known whether these medications are safe to take for more than a few weeks. Weight generally is regained after stopping medication. The best weight-loss medication program will also incorporate a weight-loss diet and exercise.
Would you discuss with your endo how your metabolic system will work without some substitue for your hypothyroidic condition? There are many other synthetics on the market that may not have the same side effects, but no dosing at all does not sound pro active or beneficial to your health. Best.
The side effects I had from the steroids was hot flashes, facial flushing, increased night sweats and weight gain. I sweat a lot normally. I'm on Wellbutrin and it's one of the side effects but while I was getting the injections it was horrible. I'd sweat for no reason just sitting in my office chair. My night sweats got 10x worse. Everything has finally calmed down now 2 months after my last injection. I gained 10lbs in a month and I'm still trying to get rid of it.6 to go.

I KID YOU NOT...I have gained 5 pounds since yesterday!! Are any of these side effects something to be worried over. Other than the weight gain I didn't have them the last time I took Prednisone. I remember feeling crummy but the normal headaches I had disappeared, vision cleared up a bit, but it did take a while before I noticed any positive changes. Thanks for your responses!
Now keep in mind I have never seen you personally and cannot make any accurate clinical diagnoses or treatment plans without doing so. Also, longterm prednisone does have other side effects such as bruising, osteoporosis, diabetes, and electrolye disturbances just to name a few. Talk to your doctor again or discuss this with your neurologist. I can understand how you may be frustrated as prednisone seems to be helping you, but I'm sure your doctors just have your best interests at heart.
Not everyone gets a lot of steroid side effects. Some of that is dose related but different people also react (or fail to react) according to their own body chemistry and past exposure. Sometimes, benefit can even be seen after the steroid course is completed. IVSM is intravenous solumedrol - the equivilent of oral prednisone - that is injected into a vein (taking about 60 minutes per dose).
I have spinal stenosis L2-L5 (severe L2-L3, L4-L5) and it was suggested that a epidural Prednisone spinal injection be done to decrease swelling and as a test to see if surgery would be benificial. What are the risks and side effects and is this an approved procedure? I thank you for your consideration.
I was reading about numbness and tingling in hands and feet and you make several references to long term side effects from quinolones. What do you reccomend in lieu of these antibiotics? I have recently (today) been prescribed Levaquin..Originally prescribed Keflex, but I had an allergy to amoxicillin 1 year ago--1 hive and some facial swelling--post dental surgery. At that time, I was put on prednisone and amoxicillin post an extraction--per the oral surgeon -"it was routine".
He's also extremely hungry and thirsty. I've read that all of these are possible phenobarbital side effects. How long do these usually last before the dog gets used to the medication? I'm hoping that these are not signs that something else is wrong, though I am aware of the possibilities.
My side effects from prednisone have been anxiety, panic attacks, metal taste in mouth, sound intolerance, smell intolerance, communication disability, bladder infection feeling, rashes on vagina, even started a period like during tx, ( mentapause for 6 years) ...has anybody else had anything similar happen to them when given another drug regiment or am I alone on this one?
Hi, my girlfriend was on prednisone for 10 days for an ear infection (which was causing extreme vertigo). She abruptly stopped taking it because of the side effects. Now, three days, later she has many of the symptoms listed for acute adrenal crisis (extreme nausea: vomited 10 times today, dizzy, headache, very weak, temors, chills, no energy, feels strange, etc). However, her doctor (an ENT) told her simply to drink plenty of fluids. Should she seek alternate treatment? Could this be serious?
they are icky...i've gained 20lbs in 5 months, grown facial hair and haven't had a good night's sleep in months which has led to depression and anxiety issues.
you are holding an ACE of spades and when its time to come off the drug it'll be time to show your cards. I wish you nothing but the best!!
She was like a guinea pig and now, 8 years after, she is living with side effects that have never gone : hypotension (around 8), fainding every day, unbearable headaches, kidney pyelonephritis every months, and an exhausting fatigue that keep her in her bed sometimes several days, where she can hardly eat alone. Before that, she was so full of life, making car races, flying planes, being a model for photographes, and photographer herself.

Oxygen therapy works for many (it is my abortive of choice), and has the benefit of having relatively few side effects when used safely. There is no generally accepted procedure for using O2, but you can read how many cluster sufferers approach their O2 use at www.clusterheadaches.com.

Finished triple therapy Jan 28, 13. (early) due to side effects and now I am experiencing joint pain, stiffnes that started a couple months after treatment. When I sit for any period of time, my hips are so stiff and my feet are stiff too. My feet feel like they can't hold me up. Ambulation is not so easy. After a few moments of being up on my feet and walking the discomfort and stiffness goes away.
HI, How are you? One of prednisone's side effects may indeed include difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep. Once the medicine is out of the system, the symptoms usually resolve. The duration may last from 1-2 days and the time it takes may also depend on a variety of factors such as the condition present, how well you tolerate the drug or the medical history of the patient. There are other symptoms associated with this medicine such as those found in this link: http://www.nlm.nih.
A new generation of NSAIDs, known as the cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) inhibitors, has recently been approved by the FDA. This group of NSAIDs has the advantage of having fewer gastrointestinal side effects – less abdominal discomfort and less risk of gastrointestinal bleeding, than conventional NSAIDs. There are three different COX-2 inhibitors currently available to the public– Vioxx, Celebrex and Bextra.
