Avatar m tn Im hoping its a false positive but chances are its not. My luck hasnt been so good this year starting in Jan with being told I have diabetes and my kidneys are releasing to much protein in my urine. I was wondering if anyone can answer this question for me about prednisone. My doctor put me on this for some issues I was having with my butt cheek and leg hurting all the way to my ankle.

Avatar m tn My wife and I are looking for advice in finding the correct type of doctor to diagnose her current condition. Here is a synopsis for the last 13 years: Currently she is a 42 year old female with three kids. At the age of 29 she was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis.
Avatar n tn Theoretically Prednisone can cause cleft lip if used in first trimester (Your wife has already crossed that stage). Also steroids are given in preterm labour at 32 weeks to bring about lung maturity of the fetus...i think using it is safe after 16 wks. hope your dr knows about your wife's pregnancy.
Avatar f tn I can't wait until I'm finished with prednisone!! I should have taken the ambien but now its too late. Oh well..I've watched every episode of Dr Phil I had recorded. If the kids weren't asleep I would vacuum the house! Besides the sleep thing I think my body is finally getting used to the steroids. I don't feel so down in the dumps. I feel better about my diagnosis.
Avatar m tn Hello, So I went to the doctor cause I thought I was getting pneumonia and the Doc had me do a PFT (which was low at 70 percent) and a blood O2 test (94 percent) and said that I had bronchitis and put me on some prednisone and a z-pack. After I finshed my meds I still felt the same. So I set up another appointment and right before I went in I started to feel better but my tests only showed I improved ten percent.
Avatar f tn The reason I am concerned is that oral prednisone is contra-indicated for optic neuritis specifically - it is fine in general and I am not even worried about adverse health effects from it for myself. I have already taken the course of steroids quite happily. I am probably just being silly, worrying about stupid things. You're quite right, Jen, he's a keeper, I wasn't even considering otherwise. I am just anxious and potty.
Avatar n tn Hi. I am 33 years old and was diagnosed with AIH 12 years ago. I have been managed successfully--first with prednisone and then with imuran. My enzymes have been 'normal' for 8 years or so. However, I am hoping to get pregnant and so my Dr. slowly weaned me off the imuran and now I am on prednisone 20mg. My last dose of immuarn was tuesday--25mg (down from 100mg). Now my dr. wants me to wait 2-3 months to start trying to get pregnant!
Avatar n tn My first PCR was 11000 copies , CD4 = 560 after six months PCR = 56000 Aafter two months PCR = 32000 , CD4=615 after six months PCR = UNDETECTABLE continously until now four times tested CD4 = 715 The problem in my test is the conflections in PCR results , I tested last four undetectable PCR result in one lb and tested 28000 COPIES in othe labs with same blood sample .
1827985 tn?1320324225 In cold weather my kids use a scarf and wrap it close to the nose, this way the air they breathe is warmer than straight out cold air .. that helps a lot in the winter for them. When they go to the bus in the AM when its cold/dry they take their inhalers ...
474314 tn?1219345522 If it's really bad, they might give you Prednisone which works faster than Benedryl. I'm allergic to other meds and Prednisone is what I was given for hives.
Avatar f tn But this time the doctor gave me Clindamycin and the bacteria is going away in the tonsils but not in the back of the throat yet. So I made an appointment next week just in case it is still there and I would have to take prednisone all over again?
Avatar f tn My 16 week hiv test was 7 weeks from my last prednisone pill is that enough time to have prednisone out of my system and have a reliable results. 3. I didn't go thru my personal Dr for the hiv test I went thru stdalert.com and they use Quest diagnostics how reliable are they? Can I trust them? 4.

Avatar f tn My last round of IV steroids was for 3 days in early April. Since then I have had only nominal relief in my sensory symptoms, which sound similar to yours. I had entire left side numbness (shoulders to toes) and dysthesia in my L hand and arm. I have the same feeling in my L hand; tightness like the circulation is cut off. Paradoxically, I find wrapping the area snugly with a compression bandage to provide some temporary relief. An ice pack seems to help too, albeit also temporarily.
Avatar f tn However, the prednisone accelerated the osteoarthritis in my knees and hips, and I am now trying to get off prednisone. And this is the real problem of prednisone. For most people with osteoarthritis in addition to whatever else, prednisone reduces healing in tissues that are inflamed (by reducing inflammation which is part of healing). This is not true for every kind of osteoarthritis..
Avatar f tn It has the disadvantage of raising blood pressure, and very expensive, but it works very well and in some cases can eliminate the need for oral prednisone and all other medications. The manufacturer has a special till December and will give a months free supply to any physician making a request.
Avatar m tn Prednisone isn't going to necessarily treat shortness of breath. It depends on what is causing the SOB. Prednisone is a steroid that is going to reduce the inflammation in your bronchioles and lungs. It will help SOB from the inflammation, but not if your bronchioles and/or lungs are full of mucous. If you still can't get your breath, it maybe that your lungs are chock full of mucous-y goodness.
Avatar m tn I just took 10mg of prednisone for my asthma Now i have bad pain in my legs and weakness above the knee and my feet are burning anyone else have this happen?
471161 tn?1317190950 About a year after Dx my hair started coming out in clumps. My rheumy put me on 400mg of prednisone and 10mg of prednisone daily and my hair grew back. Might add that I've been on 400 mg of plaquenil and 10mg of prednisone a day for the last 19 yrs. and have suffered no negative side effects from either. Hope this helps.
Avatar n tn After taking the first round of 6 pills in the 5mg pack I start to notice reduction in pain and swelling within about four hours. I take t pills per day for the next three days. About a day and a half after starting the regime I can walk without excessive pain. At the end of four days I'm back to normal. I drink a lot of water and avoid high purine food as soon as symptoms appear. Beer, peanuts and Thai fish sauce are bad for me.
Avatar f tn I'm taking Prednisone for buzzing in the head/ear and it stops it. I was prescribed 1 20 mg tblet per day for 5 days. The awful buzzing stopped for 3 weeks after I used it for 5 days. Then it started again. So I went to ER and they said I had so much wax in my right ear that it was impacted and covering my ear drum so they cleaned it out. I had no buzzing for two days; also they prescribed the Prednisone again for 5 days. I took ONE AND REALIZED IT WORK IMMEDIATELY. The awful noise stopped.
699217 tn?1323438700 Hi michele and lulu - so sorry about your having Crohn's D - I had very bad problems with my hands 8yrs ago (took almost 4yrs to heal after I refused surgery) and had to take them. I only took corticosteroid when necessary but weaned off quickly when possible. I also got shots (high dosage) during treatment for my back problem - that year my allergies hardly gave me any problem and my skin looked great even in summer.
