Need to know if tapering down on prednisone will cause an increase with muscle cramps much like Charlie Horses. Husband is working down from 60 mg to 40 and is now taking 30 and has noticed an increase in muscle cramps. He is newly diagnosed with Lupus and has follow up, post hospitalization, with rheumatologist next week; otherwise we would be asking her.
i did go out the other day to the movies with my sister, just to get out for awhile, i was in the car and not really in any direct light for maybe 15mins , and low and behold i was severly ill that night. wow!!! i still get very sick. i am almost done with the prednisone, but still having problems. not saying that this medicine cures all, but.....am i not suppose to feel better??

I have never had ON and may never get it. I started riding horses after being diagnosed in 2009. I decided to do the things I always wanted to do and that was one of them. I realized I am the same person with MS as I was before the diagnosis. In my case I had MS from the age of two I just did not have a label. There will be hard times but they are doable. It is amazing what you can get through and still be happy.
Ordinary creams do not help (in fact I think they made it worse.) I recently went to work in a sewing mill and am beginning to wonder if it isn't some type of allergic reaction to something the fabric is treated with. I read at another site that SBR lipocream would help protect hands from chemicals. I am going to try it. Perhaps this may help some of you too.
My arguement had been that a 4yr old was given HUGE doses in a short period of time... I think something got fried! I have lost all faith in the medical field of medicine and feel doctors are actually ignorant to what drugs are capable of doing... Not everyone is the same. Different bodies react differently to the same drug... After all, some people have allergies and can die from drugs that help others get well.
i had knee replacement surgery three months ago because orthroscopy showed i was bone on bone in my right knee.damage is as a result of a long term injury. as a teenager 40 years ago i had a road accident and suffered an badly broken fima and tibia. the fima didnt heal straight and my leg has been shorter and turned in slightly ever since. my surgeon didnt see any problems and said that he would re align the replacement knee to straighted the leg and avoid uneven wear .
About 48 hours ago, I noticed this heat sensation in my left shin. At first I thought I was standing too close to a heat vent in the floor at work! It is a warm, sort of tingly sensation that lasts 5 seconds and occurs, I don't know, 10 times throughout the day. I wonder if I slept on the leg funny?? Stress?? I am 43 and in reasonably good health but seem to be a hypochondriac (spelling?) at times.
Reglan (metoclopromadine) is a very cheap medication, unfortunately, it is also metabolized in the kidneys, so a too high dose results in toxic levels in the blood. My husband and I discovered that completely bypassing the GI tract by using reglan injections worked much better in the end. Chica didn't get the extra pyramidal side effects (extreme restlessness, shaking and trembling) from the reglan injections that she got from the oral meds.
Severe vertigo in the beginning now it has lessened but it is there(mainly after I have sun exposure or while I am in flourescent lighting) also more noticeable around my period. 2. Muscle pains(like charlie horses) in my legs and upper right abdomen. 3. Stiffness in my legs and hands and pain in my shoulder. 4. Lower back pain(MRI shows nothing) but I feel it. 5. Uveitis 6. Hives when I get cold(have pics on my profile) 7. Rash from sun(have pics on my profile) 8. Sun makes me VERY ill....
I have low back pain and in my side at night. The area gets hard. I also get leg cramps and charlie horses that wake me up at night. I have been diagnosed with a kidney disorder and doctor says my kidneys are leaky. I have been put on prednisone and extra calcium and meds for high potasium. The leg cramps/charlie horses wake me up at night and i usually walk around and urinate then go back to sleep but wake again in 2-3 hours with same problem.
for the past 6 months I have been experiencing a sore tightness in both of my calf muscles sporadically. It does not seem to be related to exercise since I can go for a run and feel nothing... but then I can be sitting and all of a sudden my calves (always both at the same time) start to ache and feel tight. Sometimes they feel so sore that I can almost not walk. Water seems to help on occasions. I can't understand why all of a sudden I may be becoming dehydrated so that doesn't seem logical...
after being completely off Prednisone in September The doc said I could go off of Azithioprine in October. My hair stopped falling out in January and after about 4 months of normal AST/ALT my numbers startred going up...now they keep fluctuating and I've had bursts of prednisone for about a week @ a time to calm flares but I don't know what to do now and i've lost faith in my doctor...I want to treat the cause not the symptom...any advice or has anyone else experienced this?
It would be weight based pegintron with wb rib (only 800 for mini me) You also need a lower VL going in. Mine just dropped to 680,000 from 3,780,000 in a few weeks - it's all over the place with the RA and Enbrel fighting it in bursts. I am suppose to be highly monitored when I start tx - have to have someone with me always for the first 3 weeks (I have bad reactions in the past to other meds). I do not have cryoglobulins or ANA etc. which i was hoping I did so I would feel better after tx.
he informed me all was well, to not worry because the imuran is what to be taking for arthritis. I was on 5mg of prednisone up to May of this past yr in addition to the 50 mg of imuran. After I was dropped down on the prednisone is when the pain started returning which hadn't been there since the first year of this. It makes me feel somewhat better to know that someone else is experiencing this issue with the joint pain because to be honest, I was starting to doubt my doctor.
I am currently taking a 3 month prescription (15 mg & wean down) of prednisone for Polymyalgia Rheumatic (PMR). I have been experiencing severe leg cramps at night in ankles, toes, legs. The only relief is to get out of bed and walk around. The next day my ankles ache from these cramps. I am also taking actenol once a month while on the prednisone. Could these cramps be a side effect of any of the above meds? I am very active and walk 2 miles a day. I also have idiopathic neuropathy.
I had googled it myself as did my friend but I was hoping that someone here had tried it and I could hear what it was all about from the horses mouth so to speak. As you know there is nothing like the experiences of others to educate us in a way that we can truly understand right?
I LIVED IN A HOUSE WITH VERY HIGH LEVELS OF TOXIC MOLD AND HAVE SINCE MOVED OUT AND IN WITH MY IN-LAWS. I CANNOT DO THE THINGS I DID BEFORE AND HAVE BEEN ON PREDNISONE (ON AND OFF)FOR THE WHOLE TIME.(3YRS.)HERE ARE MORE OF THE MEDS I TAKE. XOPENEX- BREATHING TREATMENTS EVERY 4 HOURS. XOPENEX - INHALER ADVAIR- 500/50 SPIRIVA THEOPHLINE ZANTAC AMBEIN PREDNISONE- (MOST OF THE TIME)80 MG DAILY MEDROL LIKE THAT IS NOT ENOUGH.
I mean, that's enough antidepressants to keep a team of horses happy you'd think. Rationally, I know its just the interferon doing this to me, so that helps a little. There's not really any single thing that I feel unhappy about actually. I mean, obviously I'm having serious health issues right now, which I'll go into in a minute, but that's not really making me unhappy per se, I guess I just feel... I don't know, lonely or something. Who knows. Anyway, treatment has been tough.
I am a 47 year old female. I had a history of psoriasis as a child. My rash started in December of 2009. I saw a dermatologist who diagnosed the rash as hives and possible eczema. He placed me on Prednisone 40mg daily for almost 3 mo with little improvement. The rash is bilateral and is migratory. I have used several otc and prescriptions for antihistamines and lotions with little to no improvement. The rash is currently on my upper back, neck, scalp and hips.
acute and chronic(when hives persist for more than 6 weeks). The most likely triggers for acute urticaria are allergies to pets, horses, latex and foods, such as shellfish and nuts, bee or wasp stings, allergies to medicines, Viral infections, such as glandular fever and herpes, dental and sinus infections, fungal infections, blood transfusions and vaccines. The cause of chronic urticaria is often more difficult to identify.
I get red rashes with spots that seem to be mainly under the skin but sometimes seem to be welts on top of skin. The rash in only on my ankles and is about 6-8" high. There is no fever. It subsides somewhat with benadryl but does not disappear. It seems to be aggravated by tylenol, but I also get it when I am not taking tylenol.. I get it even when no socks or stockings or pants are touching it.
I have been on every antihistamine in the world and they do nothing to help me. I stayed on 20mg Prednisone for about a year. Withdraw when they stopped giving them to me caused my adrenal glads and other organs to fail and I spent days in the hospital. So they put me back on Prednisone but 5mg daily instead and it worked wonderful. Then they decide they do not want me on it at all. Another 108 degree later and severe withdraw I finally have it somewhat under control.
I am pretty darn miserable from late evening to about 2 pm the next afternoon then I start loosening up and can go to the ranch in the evening and ride my horses (can barely walk but can ride - funny). I am trying different antinflams - none seem to help. Have the prednisone up to 7 to 10 per day. Taking Darvecete up to 4 times a day. Good news is my been on an alkaline diet and am getting much better energy wise - tummy is much better and so are headaches..
), photosensitive rash on forehead, beginning weight 118-now 95lbs. On prednisone w/ high caloric intake no increase in weight. New labs= prealbumin high and lymphocytes 5.21 (since 2008 all lymphs have been 2.something), all else WNL. I do not have any s/s of infection. Chest x-ray revealed a nodule in R upper lobe. 3 days later CT was normal-nothing there. I now have enlarged lymph nodes in my groin and my neck. Dr said neck ones (which are very visible and rubbery) are just carotid bulbs.
Two days later ended up in ER with horrible case of hives and difficulty swallowing. Gave me prednisone and sent me home. Had MRI of brain and eye orbits ... nothing significant found but some mild swelling of my sinuses. This week ... Muscle fasciculations are constant (only present during rest) muscle/joint pain and numbenss has subsided some but flares and is intense for short periods in my legs mostly.
Today, nearly four weeks after the first sun exposure, my husband has been off Prednisone for three days. His skin is bright red and in some places dark red. Every once in a while his eyes and around them start swelling. We apply cold compresses. His arms, face, and legs are cracked and peeling constantly. His skin is leathery and deeply wrinkled. One ear is swollen and cracked. He has a low-grade fever and is usually cold even on warm days. He has stabbing pains in his arms and legs.
This does sound like an allergic reaction to something, but to something you are coming in contact with...Are you swimming in a chlorinated pool or in water that could be contaminated with something? Are you eating honey or taking bee pollen supplements? Have you taken an antibiotic for something recently? There are two main "histamine" (allergic) responses...
calm down it sounds like u have atopic dermatitis i have the same thing but it dosnt cover my entire body, most pople with the skin condition have some kind of allergy to food or something in the enviorment so try elimanating foods in your diet like wheat, milk, eggs are the most common, if thats to much work u can get a scratch test from your dermatologist. i also expercinced fatigue and depression i know how miserable eczema can make u. some medicines i use realy do work.
