1580703 tn?1651904887 Bell's palsy is more common in diabetics. The etiology is unclear. Viral infections are one trigger, along with herpes or shingles. Some people have lasting effects, but in most it disappears. All of the problems stem from impingement upon various cranial nerves. The prednsone stops or reduces swelling and thus impingement.
Avatar n tn I am a diabetic and have been running very high blood sugars when I have been on the many antibiotics and Prednisone. I am now experiencing some neuropathy in my hands and feet - do not know if it is related to my mysterious condition or a result of the long periods of high blood sugar. Would appreciate any input. Thanks !!!!
Avatar f tn Ask your doctor many questions, and learn your diseases and their triggers that set off serious breathing problems. Prednisone worst side effect occurs in diabetics and the elderly. It raises blood sugars to dangerous levels Your diabetic Dr should know immediately so he or she can advise you on insulin adjustments or pump adjustments to keep sugars under as good of control as possible. The more insulin you have to take the greater the chances of low bloodsugars as well.
4661387 tn?1359415198 It sounds like a seventh cranial nerve palsy which is unrelated to MS. Unknown etiology. Diabetics are prone to this, but it sometimes comes on after flu, infection or herpes. They usually get worse over two to four days, then stabilize, and remain that way for one to three months. Treatment is anti-inflamatories. Prednisone for starters (for a few days), then NSAIDS daily. It's goof to get the nerve swelling down ASAP because the nerve has a warm ischemic time.
Avatar n tn Many physicians use a week or two of prednisone. The downside of prednisone is that it may make the infection worse by depressing the immune response.

Avatar f tn The rheumatoid arthritis in but itdiagnoses was not confirmed at that time but the Rheunatologist said that Prednisone could help with the extreme pain but might compromise the Hep C. I could barely get out of bed and was on disability. I agreed to try the prednisone. At my 6 month point in my Hepatits therapy, the rna viral count rose from 417 to over 319,000 I immediately stopped the prednisone. My doctor refferred me for a second opinion at USC in Los Angeles.
Avatar n tn I've been looking into using wax & its recommended diabetics do not wax. I just read a previous answer to a waxing question that it may have to do with neuropathy. I was wondering if the amount of fructose, glucose & maltrose used in the wax may be another reason? Is it possible that they could be absorbed through the skin?
Avatar m tn Pain in the arm can result from a number of factors. Abnormalities of the skin, nerves, bones, joints, blood vessels, and soft tissues of the arm can all result in pain. Sometimes diseases that affect other organs in the body, like peripheral vascular disease or arthritis, can be the cause of pain in the arm.
Avatar f tn Keytones are an acid created when the body burns its own fat. Keytones are common in Type 1 diabetics because the body cannot get enough glucose from the blood. The insulin cannot deliver energy to the body’s cells, so the body has a survival mechanism that begins burning fat. In most Type 1 diabetics there may not be a lot of fat to burn.
Avatar f tn Is it possible for a false positive or alcohol in a urine test if youre diabetic? Im in a suboxone clinic and I get tested every two weeks. I was positive two consecutive times in July when I had my toe amputated and then it was fine now I tested positive again in November two consecutive times again. Back in July I had a UTI and believe I might again.
Avatar n tn There are several factors that can cause the fatigue. From not enough insulin and carbohydrates in your diet, to thyroid and other endocrine problems. When I had my thyroid problem, I could sleep for eight houses and wake up exhausted. Now when I have constant fatigue I know that I need an adjustment in my medication. With my daughter I know it means she needs to adjust her insulin in take. I hope this information helps.
Avatar n tn She is smoking because the nicotene high makes her feel better. In Diabetics, it even lowers high blood sugar. Smoking when I had high blood sugar used to make me feel better, so I am speaking from experience. She is losing weight because she is now afraid to eat! I remember being scared to death to put ANYTHING in my mouth for fear of a shot... She is not using her condition to manipulate you. I can promise you that.
Avatar m tn you could possibly be diabetic-i would make a dr appt!

Avatar m tn Hello, So I went to the doctor cause I thought I was getting pneumonia and the Doc had me do a PFT (which was low at 70 percent) and a blood O2 test (94 percent) and said that I had bronchitis and put me on some prednisone and a z-pack. After I finshed my meds I still felt the same. So I set up another appointment and right before I went in I started to feel better but my tests only showed I improved ten percent.

Avatar m tn Diabetes is a controllable disease but it takes a lifestyle change to do so. There are many people who turn to medication as their only answer. I have a family member who neglects her health and feel as long she swallows those pills daily she will be healthy. I have realized that one cannot help those who refuse to help themselves first. Answers: 1. Some diabetics exhibit no symptoms. Some diabetics lie and say they have no symptoms.
