Avatar f tn I have been put on Cellcept and Prednisone. They are going to wein me off of the Prednisone once I am up to the highest dosage of Cellcept which is 2000mg a day. I am starting at 500mg for 5 days, then 1000mg for 5 days, blood work, and then 2000mg. Most websites don't speak specifically about vasculitis of the eyes. All autoimmune disease tests came up negative. I want to know more about this disease.
Avatar m tn When did you start the prednisone in relation to treatment and why? Who prescribed the prednisone? You took the prednisone for 14 months and treated for about nine months total from what I understand. Did you continue the prednisone after treatment and did the trial investigator treat you with it the whole time you took it including after tx? As others have suggested.
Avatar f tn Has anyone ever just started going blind for no reason? I am seeing very hazy in my left eye and at night there are halo and everything looks like fog. There pressure and inflammation has not gone down after almost a werk and a half if predisone drops 6 times a day. I was checked for infectious diseases and nothing, tb negative, chest xray nothing but my vision is getting worse. Has this happened to anyone before?
Avatar f tn That many episodes of iritis indicate almost assuredly an underlying ocular or systemic disease. the most common cause of recurrent acute anterior iritis his HLA-B27 antigen positive. You should ask your ophthalmologist if you were tested for this and if not it needs to be drawn. I would suggest you ask your ophthalmologist for a referral to a "uveitis specialist" most large cities and university ophthalmology departments have one.
Avatar n tn Inherited glaucoma from Mom. Used drops for about 10 yrs. Last year endured some kind of attack. Mild pain but very clouded vision. I have seen 5 different doctors. Diagnoses uveitis, shingles and various others. Some have told me there is a lesion on my eye which is not active now. Others that the sclera is thin and scarred. I am under the care of a good opthamologist whom I trust but occasionally I have to see someone else.
Avatar f tn Later they also said it could just be an inflamation, which displays itself as cataract and prescribed prednisone drops. So far he used them for 4 days, w/o any improvement. I can't seem to make any sence out what's going on with his eyes. Could anyone help with any kind of feedback please?!!
Avatar m tn All these symptoms commenced slowly within the first 24 hours of shingles vaccine injection interaction with Humira and Prednisone. I had not had uveitis or eye issues in nearly 20 years so its difficult to believe its a coincidence.
Avatar m tn Prior to that Humira was bi-weekly for about 8 months and Enbrel was used for about 8 months prior to it. All in combination with Imuran 150Mg or 200Mg. During this time I have had uveitis (lasted for about 4 months) followed by gastritis (8 months), followed by strep throat leading to chronic tonsilitis and re-occuring bronchitis flares for 6 months that triggered asthma and now back to uveitis...
Avatar f tn Dear Dr. Hagan, Thanks for writing back. It just seems to me when I wake up after not using the lotemax for hours things aren't so hazy. Thank you for all your efforts you put on this board and for the time you spent addressing my concerns. Loss of vision is very scary mine started August 2nd. No more driving and my 20 mile bicycle rides have stopped. Very tough transition. Thank you fir being here.

1063463 tn?1302274619 I was on Prednisone for my eye then alot of my symptoms got better...now I am on nothing again and I am having problems that are slowly coming back.
Avatar n tn Having started the TB medication for a week we now wish to continue her treatment for UVEITIS . As I came to know that Steroid is the only option for treating Uveitis I am afraid of both (TB and Uveitis) the medicines that will add extra weights in her body. Any solution to that? Or any expert comment to help me.
Avatar f tn I have developed posterior uveitis in my right eye. It has further become complicated with cystoid macular edema. I am currently on ocular prednisone acetate 6 hourly. My near vision has improved slightly with the steroids. I occasionally feel pain in my left eye sometimes. I am also seeing floaters in my left eye. My ophthalmologist says it appears to be normal. What more should I do? Is it OK to read, watch TV and use the comp?
Avatar n tn Hi there! Well, I tried the "natural" eye drops that I had at home... They dried out my eyes (I already had Sjogren's)... I then tried (my doctor gave me an accidental sample of an anaesthetic instead of a lubricant, how can I be so naive as to take it, yes, I honestly thought is was the generic name for a lubricant eyedrop, I have never inspected the names of the lubricant eyedrops closely enough to know I took it).
Avatar n tn Like heart disease, uveitis ranges from a single episode that is easily controled and never comes back to relentless progression to blindness. And everything in between. The treatment of uveitis has improved dramatically in the last 2 decades. All the patient's with uveitis that I've managed have done well with IOL surgery. Anyone having cataract surgery should not expect perfect vision because other parts of the eye are usually affected by disease or age.
Avatar f tn my doctors think that glaucoma/high pressure came from prednisone and pred-forte I took last year to treat uveitis and arthritis.
Avatar n tn I was given Imuran and high doses of prednisone for 7 months. I was aware that cayenne pepper is excellent for your circulation so I took it and 3 days later I only had trace inflammation left. I'm off all meds but now I'm left with all these problems. My eye-lid swells and I have proptosis. Sometimes it is slight and then other times I look like a fish.
Avatar n tn My daughter has Ankylosing Spondylitis with uveitis she get stondos injection in both her eyes when her eyes are inflam. Her last injection was alittle over a year ago, she went to her regular eye doctor for an exam just 3 weeks and found out she is blind in her right eye, A large floater in the middle of her eye. (She had 20/20 last year in that eye.) The doctor said her macular is inflam and there nothing they can do for her sight.
Avatar m tn actually be experienced by pwMS, if it is caused specifically by MS is difficult to pin down, the uveitis stats are quite small when they are looking at a possible connection for uveitis as a sx of MS. To explain what i'm trying to say, one example of the disparity would be the larger number of dx uveitis patients in a study and the MSers are commonly in the minoriety eg 1267 uveitis patents and only 41 dx MSers. Which is just over a 3% sample base and means the other 96.
1580703 tn?1651904887 thanks a lot- yeah I've been on the HC and then prednisone for 25 days now- I still have bleeding I think from the hemmarhoids
Avatar f tn Thank you so much for your response. I was told that both uveitis and shingles can be brought on by stress in the body. I was hoping that if there were diseases that could cause both I might be able to narrow the list as I don't seem to be getting a lot of assistance on this end. I will definitely look for a uveitis specialist - thank you!!
1233210 tn?1267684288 The most widely used classification of uveitis is the one devised by the International Uveitis Study Group (IUSG) in 1987, based on the anatomical location of the inflammation. This classification includes anterior uveitis (iritis, iridocyclitis, and anterior cyclitis), intermediate uveitis (para planitis, posterior cyclitis, and hyalitis), and posterior uveitis (focal, multifocal, or diffuse choroiditis, chorioretinitis, retinitis, and neuroretinitis).
Avatar n tn I've had uveitis for three years, treated with cortisone drops, pred forte drops, dilating drops and a cortisone shot in left eye. Lost most of vision in that eye because optic nerve was mostly destroyed. I did research on websites, and saw that uveitis is an auto immune disease and saw a rheumatologist who prescribed Methotrexate. Uveitis went into remission immediately, and I haven't had a recurrence in 2 years!
Avatar f tn Based on retrospective studies with cohorts of n ≥ 1,000 patients, we estimate that the prevalence of MS among patients with uveitis is ∼1%, and the prevalence of uveitis among patients with MS is ∼1%, which in both cases is considerably higher than in the general population according to studies on prevalence in western countries. Results from larger studies are to be assumed as the closest to a true estimate.
