Generally, the drill is prednisone for the first week with a taper. Usually you lose the ability to whistle and may have difficulty swallowing or drooling. The eye on the side of the droopiness may become dry or tear, and a patch may be worn for reading for the next few weeks. Massage helps, but the condition is almost always self-limiting.

I have had tinnitus and vertigo for many years. 7 years ago I was put on prednisone for myalgia pain. My pain went away but it had no affect on my hearing. It did affect my belly....it bloated out like a pregnant woman...lol...I got off prednisone back in january of this year. If you can avoid it then avoid it. If you need it for other reasons and not for hearing then I guess you have to continue taking it until it does not good for you.

I went to Doctor today and he put me on prednisone for the week. I am supposed to do 40mg for 2 days, 30 for 2 days, 20 for 2 days, and 1 for 2 days. I took my first dose today and wonder how long it takes for it to work? I still don't feel great which could also be the cold I suppose. Who gets a cold in the summer anyway? Awful.

Hopefully not. Prednisone, by the way, is a steroid. It reduces the inflammation and selling and that's why they gave it to you. It's not an antibiotic that works on bacteria or anything. Take your current medication as directed. Why do they think you are getting so many sore throats that are not viral?

If there is a toddler group near you, it may be worth your while to put the toddlers there for a few hours or get a member of the family or a trusted friend to look after the toddlers for you to get some "me time", relaxation and rest. Make an appointment to see your doctor and discuss this with him as there may be another reason for feeling so tired and not being able to sleep. Best wishes.

Hi I am on day 4 of a prednisone taper for sudden low frequency hearing loss and tinnitus. I am concerned about side hearing loss, and side effects of medication. I thought prednisone increased energy, I am exhausted. My tinnitus keeps changing ears and volumes. I take 800 ADVIL when the pain gets really bad and when it is unbearable I go on PREDNISONE for 7 days. I do not do the prednisone more than 2X a year.

Karajo, thanks for the idea about MSM. I have heard of it before but never taken it. Like Katika29 asked, do you take it all at once during the day or several dosages to add up to 3000mg.? Maybe it says on the bottle if I go to the store and look at it. Also, in detoxifying your body, does it remove the medicines out of your system?
