Then from not treating the bacteria in the back of my throat caused my tonsils down my throat to swell so I was prescribed prednisone. It cured. But this time the doctor gave me Clindamycin and the bacteria is going away in the tonsils but not in the back of the throat yet. So I made an appointment next week just in case it is still there and I would have to take prednisone all over again?
I've taken Prednisone for 5 days for a sore throat. I finished yesterday, but would like to know is it safe to take my multivitamin pill and vitamin d pill now? I didn't take it along with the prednisone because I wasn't sure if it will interfere. But now that I finished the prednisone, is it safe to take it now?
I have asthma. Three weeks ago, I started with a sore throat. Finally after a week and a half, the sore throat left, but, then a cold never developed. Instead, my chest became congested. I went to the doctor, and she put me on a z-pack. I finished the pack, along with taking albuterol for breathing sessions. I still have a cough, and went to a walk in today, and the doctor thought I might have bronchitis or pneumonia. I usually take prednisone for my breathing difficulties.
After four days of sore throat and fever and red eyes, I had foggy vision in my left eye.After the infection was over ,There was no pain or redness in the eye but vision was little fuzzy as compare to my right eye, I went to Opthamologist and she put me on Lotemax drops for 7 days, I used drops and went back after a week and she said, inflammation is still there and she put me on Prednisone 40 mg TABLETS for 4 days with Lotemax eye drops every one hour.
The symptoms change every time, but the sore throat is continuous. The main symptoms are sore throat, shortness of breath while talking, and sweating. My doctor isn't sure what I have either. Thank you in advance for your help

I went to the hospital immediately they told me I had uvulitis gave me prednisone and told me to take benadryl. I did the whole 5 days of prednisone the sore throat went away and the uvula went down a bit. Then around the middle of June I noticed it felt like something was stuck in my throat I looked and my tonsils seemed to be really swollen but no pain. At that time I had no health insurance so I couldn't get to the doctor. I gargled with salt water and the swelling went down some.
He told me that I have some inflammation in the throat, and he prescribed Prednisone for a month (Light doze), and asked me to see him after a month.
I am taking the prednisone for the last one week, now; the thing is, that I am feeling the sore-throat feeling, and dryness in my throat all the time.
Can you please advise what’s going wrong with my throat? Is it the side effect of the Prednisone or I am having some other serious problem. An early response is appreciated.

The nice thing is that the prednisone has helped alleviate those cold symptoms, but I've read that it can weaken your immune system. I'm only supposed to take the prednisone for 5 days total. Is this going to make me sicker/make the cold last longer when I get off the prednisone in a few days?

s not AS SWOLLEN as it was, my throat still feels pretty sore! I could find no Prednisone to take,...thinking that that would certainly help the swelling dissipate. I've been eating ice and drinking cold things, but the throat is still sore. I take quite a few night time meds, so I'm not sure what will help at this point! Did let a troche dissolve in my throat incase its fungal related, but need to take or do something safe, since I already took my nite time meds. Any suggestions!
I was put on a z-pak, prednisone for a sore rib/muscle from coughing, and an inhaler and delsym for the cough. The zpak was the kind where I took a pill for five days, but it would last for ten days, and I'm on day 8 and I still have the same cough I had before (muscle pain too, the prednisone didn't seem to help but that's not the problem). Now I have a runny nose, a sore/tickle-y throat, and I keep sneezing like I have a cold.
I took some benadryl and the sore throat/ drip went away. Later in the morning I started experiencing diarrhea. Nothing horrible, but it made me decide to go to urgent care. They said it was an allergic reaction and prescribed an epipen. I declined because I have no insurance.
Since then I've seen another doctor who thinks its hsv 1. However I have not had any of the other symptoms of hsv. I've not had blistering, swollen glands, flu like symptoms. Any of that.
He has a chronic sore throat. Another symptom is that he will wake up in the middle of the night and vomit, then he goes back to sleep and is fine. He often complains that his stomach hurts and has diarrhea. Could this be allergy related? His doctor has suggested trying prednisone to see if it helps.
Body aches, chills, waking up in sweats, and a really bad sore throat. It was worse throughout the week, so I went to the doctor. Strep throat is confirmed by a test when they swab the back of your throat. I can't comprehend any doctor treating you for strep throat if they have not tested you for it. If the diagnoses has been confirmed and you are not responding to the antibiotics you mights need something stronger. You should call your doctor's office and let them know how you are feeling. They would be able to call something else in for you or might want to do other tests to confirm what may be the problem.
2 days later I had a fever and a sore throat. The fever went away but the sore throat did not. After 2 weeks, I was given a ZPack which seemed to clear it up. The sore throat/fever returned about a month later with the same successful treatment.
Now it has come back again about a month later with no fever but a milder persistent red sore throat.
I was sick with a upper respiratory infection about 2 weeks ago I went to the doctor he said it was bacterial.
Just as an update. My sore throat lasted about 2 weeks before it stopped hurting. The area in my throat was so specific that I think it had to have been an ulcer. I have lost some significant weight (30lbs) because I have developed a very sensitive gag reflex from that area in my throat and swallowing has become kind of disgusting because I can feel the food so well over that area. I did develop some thrush but I was on Amoxicillin for 10 days which can easily bring about thrush.
