I like you have had sinus problems all my life. I took the Prednisone with a steroid spray and it really helped me. The only thing is your only allowed to take so much of that and they hesitate keep giving it to you. I use a Netti Bottle with the saline solution everyday and I find that really helps. I also use a warm air vaporizer at nite and that seems to keep my sinus's clear. I also take a Reactine everynite. I find this one helps with sleep and keeps me dry.

I am looking for some information myself as to what is it supposed to do for you.
You really should be using a steroid nasal spray for you excessive mucous production for your sinuses. Antibiotics help acute sinusitis infections. I often do saline irrigations of my sinuses, that helps remove the excess mucous that is in the sinuses. Also gets rid of infected material. These irrigations should be done twice a day. I've also noticed that when you have excess lung mucous you will feel it rattling around deep in your lungs before it makes it's way up.
I ended up needing 3 rounds of the levofloxacin, and ended up needing to do a week of each for the prednisone, so it was more like 60mg for 7 days, 50mg 7 days, 40 for 7 days, etc. until I was finally able to come off of it and was no longer having breathing issues. She also had me on advair 250/50 for this time period to get me off the prednisone faster. With all that prednisone, I went up to about 250lbs.
I was treated last month for a sinus infection. (I have lots of sinus infections, have had surgery on my sinuses, etc.) Doc gave me a z-pack and prednisone. Suggested I try Claritin or zyrtec to see if allergies are triggering all of this. Claritin is helping a lot with the post nasal drip, but now the junk in my chest seems tight and I have a dry, unproductive cough. Should I try mucinex to loosen up the chest and continue with Claritin?
I just took 10mg of prednisone for my asthma Now i have bad pain in my legs and weakness above the knee and my feet are burning anyone else have this happen?
i've had a continual sinus infection for about 2 years.....i've always had sinus infectioons more than others growing up....now i'm 33.......i went on the atkins diet to see if me getting sick all of the time is from an allergy to like wheat, gluten , or milk....i was on the atkins for 2 days.....that is the worst thing for people....i feel bad for them....anyways...that diet made me feel like i'm starving....i have steroids (prednisone) that i started last night......
Months earlier, during a flair up in sinus symptoms, I was put on Amoxicillin for a short course but it was not long enough to completely wipe out the infection. My ENT wants to bring in the big guns now and is using Amoxicillin and Augmentin as antibiotics for 3 weeks and is making me take 9 days of Prednisone oral steroid to stop the swelling in the sinuses, starting with 30mg/day initially and slowly dropping to 10mg/day.
I am on my third round of anti-biotics for a sinus infection and cannot get any relief. The first round was 14 days (cannot remember name) along with a one week supply of Prednisone. The infection seemed to get better, but came back very strong 3 days after my meds were finished. My head hurt so badly that I was crying and had to use an ice pack to help ease the pain. My doctor gave me Levaquin (10 days), another 7 day supply of Prednisone, and Lortab 10mg.
I have had an ongoing sinus infection for over 5 years. Under the care of different doctors, I have been prescribed different antibiotics which have had limited success. Shows chronic sinus problems but no current infection and no need for surgery at the present time. I also do the sinus rinse and have veramyst spray. Ear, nose, and throat specialist said to keep doing what I am doing and contact him in 2 months. I also have GERD and am currently taking Nexium since last May 2007. I also just bought an air purifier to put in the bedroom as a last hope. No one seems to be able to help. The allergy medicenes such as drixoral, etc. seem to cause a cough.
I was just on Prednisone for 10 days. I did get some fluid retention but it helped with my sinus and the swelling in my face. I think you will be fine.
I am so scared because I got really sick6 weeks after the risk and I was put on 3 day 40mg of prednisone. I went for and hiv test at 8 weeks from risk and it was neg I also went for another hiv test at 16 weeks also neg.
1. Can 3 days of 40mg of prednisone cause a false neg?
2. My 16 week hiv test was 7 weeks from my last prednisone pill is that enough time to have prednisone out of my system and have a reliable results.

I took prednisone & imuran the whole time I was in tx. I stayed very ill the whole time also but have been SVR for over 2 yrs now.
Within two days i had hives and breathing problems so d/c the antibiotic, still continued having hives and breathing problems - allergist said it was a reaction to Prednisone. We did a VERY fast taper on Prednisone (40 mg -4 days) the fifth day I ballooned particularly the face and knee. A week later Went in for my maintenance dose allergy shot and had a systemic reaction to it immediately ( first time).
yup, it is 100% safe to take during pregnancy. And it's a godsend of a medication lol. I had a double ear infection, double sinus infection, and stage 1 phumonia(sp), and Zithromax had me cleared up and feeling better withen the same night of taking it. I was also worried to take it at first, so I called almost every pharmacy in town and asked about it, and I got the same answer, which is it's safe, and I even called my doc and double checked with him lmao.
It is good that the CT scan result has showed a possible cause of your symptoms. Antibiotic treatment for sinus infection is usually longer and stronger than the usual 1 week. Continue your medications as prescribed.However, avoid discontinuing the steroid or prednisone abruptly without consulting your attending. Hope to hear from you soon.
I am on the 7th day of antibiotics. I have a sinus infection and was told I have allergies last year. Still feel congested but have lots of head pressure but not pain per say.
This after seeing 3 ENTs who have said I do not have sinus problems, though I am always dealing with sinus pressure and congestion etc.
Can allergies make me feel so crappy. I can barely breathe right now except for through my mouth. I cleaned the bedroom real good last night and is that what is causing me to feel this bad? I am yellow and green mucus when I blow my nose.
I also have swollen lymph nodes which came up on MRI.
I was prescribed 1 20 mg tblet per day for 5 days. The awful buzzing stopped for 3 weeks after I used it for 5 days.Then it started again. So I went to ER and they said I had so much wax in my right ear that it was impacted and covering my ear drum so they cleaned it out. I had no buzzing for two days; also they prescribed the Prednisone again for 5 days. I took ONE AND REALIZED IT WORK IMMEDIATELY. The awful noise stopped.
