518247 tn?1212194254 It sounds as if it is either trauma or Torticollis. Prednisone will help for both. Supportive therapy may be enough if you are lucky and the trauma doesn't involve too much brain damage. Emergency dose of prednisone is 1 mg per pound of body weight twice per day. I would give the Baytril daily. Sub Q fluids can't hurt either, but no more than 30 to 50 mls every 2-3 hours. I don't know if you can place in an IV catheter?
1896318 tn?1321347087 Is it possible for people to get pin worms from cats, dogs or rabbits? We have a cat and three rabbits and our first ever pin worm infection in the family. Unfortunately the infection is persistent and am wondering if we are being re-infected by our pets.
Avatar n tn I personally find the use of rabbits to test cosmetics to be very sad for the rabbit. These tests are gradually being replaced with more humane tests. But for a long time it was a necessary evil. But getting back to your little guy, I recommend that you take him to a vet and have diagnostics performed, because conjunctivitis and corneal ulcers can be painful, and if an ear infection is possible it can spread to the middle ear and cause neurological problems.

Avatar n tn s the MySpace for bunnies. They have lots of information and there are groups for different interests and some are for regions of the country. Good Luck with your bunny.
Avatar m tn Wild rabbits carry a number of bacteria and organisms that can cause lots of problems for pet dogs and cats. Wild rabbits can carry leptospirosis, toxoplasmosis, and several other diseases that your dog can contract from eating their feces. Pet rabbits don't have these problems, however in the wild animal population it's extremely dangerous for dogs to eat their droppings. Please take every precaution to make sure your dog doesn't consume any more of these "goodies".
Avatar n tn Your rabbits wet bottom may be a clue to a cause of death. Rabbits can get urinary tract infections and urinary stones. Rabbits urinate large amounts of calcium. A rabbits body can form stones from the calcium that is held in the bladder prior to urination. If the stones become large enough they can block the urethra, similar to the kind of blockage that occurs in male cats. This kind of blockage can cause death within 24 hours if not relieved.

Avatar n tn The food and vegetables can be fed frequently once your rabbit is used to them. There are also various treats marketed for rabbits ranging from milk-based yoghurt drops to sticks of cereals / grains. My rabbit goes mad for the milk-based yoghurt drops and if you leave chocolate on the sofa, he will jump up and eat this before you have a chance to get it away from him. When I started to introduce fresh food, I was advised the following from my Vet.
Avatar f tn Timothy hay is the best choice for rabbits, but please also add fresh green leafy vegetables to his/her diet. Alfalfa hay can sometimes have too much calcium and cause urine issues. The urine you describe is normal, because rabbits pass a very concentrated urine that is high in calcium. Because of the high solute composition of their urine, rabbits can get urinary tract infections. Males have testicles, unless they have been neutered.
Avatar f tn I also have panhypopituitarism. I have been on 5mg of prednisone since my dx in 96. I have been doing some research and am interested in finding out more about constant subcutaneous infusion of hydrocortisone. My days start off OK but by 5pm I am very fatigued.

Avatar n tn The presence of diseased incisors act as areas of infection and the sharp edges cause soft tissue damage and oral ulcers. Extractions of these incisors often result in the best quality of life for these rabbits. Abscesses of the cheek teeth, present as lumps on the lower or upper jaw are more complicated diseases to treat. Surgical removal of the abscess as a whole is required. The abscess capsule needs to be removed as well.
Avatar f tn I have rabbits and have been around them my whole pregnancy. My Dr knows I have them and has never said a thing about it so I'm going to say its just fine.
Avatar f tn I had two miscarriages. One I had sore boobs the other no symptoms. We were like rabbits all month. My abdomen is sore but my boyfriend says its just from having so much sex. I am supposed to start in a couple days.
1580703 tn?1651904887 I took 10mg prednisone and then I'm coming down now with fever- the flagyl maybe didn't work completely for this possible amoeba infection EH
Avatar f tn I have had tinnitus and vertigo for many years. 7 years ago I was put on prednisone for myalgia pain. My pain went away but it had no affect on my hearing. It did affect my belly....it bloated out like a pregnant woman...lol...I got off prednisone back in january of this year. If you can avoid it then avoid it. If you need it for other reasons and not for hearing then I guess you have to continue taking it until it does not good for you.
