Avatar n tn This sounds like one possible path of treatment. The doctor is betting that you have some sort of allergic reaction. I've seen people have this sort of thing after applying neosporin to the eyelid skin or after eating something they were very allergic to. I suggest you see an ophthalmolgist anyway to make sure there is not another cause that requires a different treatment.
Avatar f tn Did you recover any hearing? The prednisone reduces inflammation of the auditory nerve or at least they think it does. The side effects are awful but subside pretty quickly after you finish. The prednisone did not work for me nor did antiviral but I'm glad I tried both. I hope you had better luck!
Avatar f tn t help with my joint and back inflammation. I had heard about people having success with Prednisone but I had never really considered it for myself because I'm still young and had heard of all the horrible side effects. My pain had been causing me to become deeply depressed. Doctors were treating me like a drug addict whenever I went to ask for a prescription. I was getting to the point of being completely crippled and being a carer to my disabled son, crippled was not an option.
Avatar f tn m only supposed to take the prednisone for 5 days total. Is this going to make me sicker/make the cold last longer when I get off the prednisone in a few days?
Avatar m tn I have been on prednisone foe 4 to 5 years, dosages from 25 down to 1 mg for most of that time. I got real sick all of sudden and had to go to 40 to 50 mg per day for about 1 year. I know I need to get off them. now taking about 20 per day. can I get off them after so long????
Avatar f tn Hopefully not. Prednisone, by the way, is a steroid. It reduces the inflammation and selling and that's why they gave it to you. It's not an antibiotic that works on bacteria or anything. Take your current medication as directed. Why do they think you are getting so many sore throats that are not viral?
Avatar m tn Getting pain in my back lower ribs, Been on Pred 8 for 4 days, 6 for 3 days - 4 for 3 days and finishing up with 2 for 3 days 5mg, I am aslo on ventolin, Sprivia, and symbicort... any suggestions or advice ? I also just finished 6 Moxifloxacin HCL 400 mg, Nothing seems to be doing the job.
458072 tn?1291415186 I'd discuss this with your surgeon. Arnica is pretty weak for the kind of inflammation that follows surgery. Don't know that corticosteroids are the only solution, but while arnica might indeed promote quicker healing, there are much stronger natural anti-inflammatories, but still none as strong as steroids. There must be something else out there, but if you do go natural, proteolytic enzymes, turmeric standardized, boswellia, etc.
Avatar f tn I have primary progressive MS and have had foot drop which has gotten worse the last few weeks. My Nuero Dr. gave me a prescription for Prednisone, 7, 20mg tabs a day for 3 days without any weening off before stopping. Isn't 140 mg at once too much? I am also scared of all the side effects.
Avatar n tn Are you on prednisone for long term therapy ?? I was on it and it caused me to have AVN of my hip.. Its Avascular Necrosis.. Its a 2 edge sword.. I dont want to scare you just know it can cause other problems..
293157 tn?1285873439 I have had a sore shoulder for 1.5 years..but it has really gotten bad for the past few months. Napraxen and Celebrex didn't help the inflammation. My GP is not sure its Bursitis, but it sounds like it to him. He didn't even look at it..just from what I have told him? is this type of inflammation common? well, take care everyone..
Avatar f tn I've taken Prednisone for 5 days for a sore throat. I finished yesterday, but would like to know is it safe to take my multivitamin pill and vitamin d pill now? I didn't take it along with the prednisone because I wasn't sure if it will interfere. But now that I finished the prednisone, is it safe to take it now?
Avatar m tn I've tested positive (8.0) for Rnp antibody 4 times and I test negative for RNA antibody every time. Do you have to test positive for both to be considered to have the MCTD disease. My rheumatologists say I don't have the disease and just say I have fibromyalgia. The pain, I believe caused by the inflammation is so bad at times I don't think a human should have to suffer this much.
Avatar m tn s either a bee sting or a wasp sting he gave me .20 mg of prednisone 3 pills for 10 days....why is that? I thought I should get an antibiotic.
Avatar f tn I know that colchicine (typically used for gout treatment) does show to be successful with Pericarditis. I know that Prednisone has equal results at reducing inflammation surrounding the pericardium.
Avatar f tn m only supposed to take the prednisone for 5 days total. Is this going to make me sicker/make the cold last longer when I get off the prednisone in a few days?
Avatar f tn Now can only hope and pray the Imuran will help and that prednisone is responsible for the side effects. Has anyone out there dealt with Sjogrens? I am starting to think the Sjogrens isn't even the cause of the mouth ulcers, but after 11 months of misery and terrible stress that I'll be fighting tongue and cheek cancer, I have about given up hope of erer getting over this mess. Would appreciate any thoughts on this.
Avatar n tn He came down with it a little over a year ago and was on prednisone for a year. He is better now, and had his last dose of prednisone about a month ago, but I know he probably still has a high sed rate and high CRP. Is there any danger in having high inflammation? He doesn't want to continue the meds as long as he can tolerate the discomfort, but I'm concerned about his inflammation rate. Can other harm be done by that or is the harm done by taking prednisone worse?
Avatar n tn My daughter had a severe sinus infection with fluid/ear pressure buildup so painful, the doctor prescribed 20 mg of Prednisone, taken 3 times a day (60 mg) for 7 days, reduce to 2 for 2 days, then 1 for 1 day to keep from 'damaging her ear drum because the fluid buildup was so bad'. She's been taking it for 5 days and feel sick to her stomach, headaches - the only thing that has left is the pain in her ears. Is that an overdose what they gave her? Are these the side effects?
Avatar f tn What is prednisone? What is it use for? What are all of the side afects you can have when you are on this medecation?
Avatar n tn I was put on prednisone and rhen switched to inhaled steroids. I suffered thick tenacious phlegm and coughing so severe that it exhausted me. I have since refused both prednisone and inhaled steroids and am much better for it. I use natural anti-inflammatories. However I do not have IPF, but COPD. I don't know if that makes a difference. P.S. My pulmonary MD has a hard time accepting that I reacted in this way. Also the treatment caused me to suffer adrenal fatigue.
Avatar f tn I've been on 3-10 mg of steroids (prednisone is how it is called here) for the last five months because I continue to have mild to severe attacks that need me to have a portable oxygen tank a nebulizer and of course my broncodilator inhaler wherever I go. This dosage has worked well for me, varying it depending on my symptoms.
Avatar n tn After the infection was over ,There was no pain or redness in the eye but vision was little fuzzy as compare to my right eye, I went to Opthamologist and she put me on Lotemax drops for 7 days, I used drops and went back after a week and she said, inflammation is still there and she put me on Prednisone 40 mg TABLETS for 4 days with Lotemax eye drops every one hour. I am really worried as there are lot of side effects of Prednisone, This is my second day on Prednisone and so far i am good.
Avatar n tn Help! I'm at my wits end. In November 2008, I had chest pain and thought it was a chest cold. In late December it was still bothering me so I made an appt with my physician. He said it was costochondritus. I was told to take ibuprofen for a few weeks.Didn't help. I was sent for a sonogram of my heart, it was normal. I was sent for chest x-rays, they were normal. I was put on a course of prednisone. Soothed the pain at the higher doses then came back as I weened myself off the prednisone.
