Avatar m tn Either/or, but the two cannot be mixed! From your limited information, I would suspect a herniated Disc, especially for her breed.....Google: IVDD (Intervertabral Disc Disease) and read everything you can.....She needs to be CONFINED to a crate (Carry out to potty & then back in) until you can see her Vet, tomorrow......
583182 tn?1218138465 Am trying to conceive and was just prescribed a 6 day prednisone pack for herniated disc. Wondering if it's safe to continue trying or should we wait until in done with the medication. And if I should wait, how long until it's out of my system?
Avatar f tn I need advice and answers. I have herniated disc. For the last week I have had numbness in right fingertips and left leg and foot. I am having trouble walking normal.
Avatar m tn You may have herniated a disc by the pain you describe. I herniated 2 just standing up from a squatting position. I would make an appt to see a doctor. They can start you on prednisone to help shrink it and hopefully go back into place if that is your problem. I just herniated a 3 rd disc and have had several surgeries including a fusion. Don't let it get out of hand, hopefully it's not a herniation but get it checked out especially if you can't walk.
1415563 tn?1281998836 Depending on the severity of symptoms, treatments for a herniated disc include physical therapy, muscle relaxant medications, pain medications, antiinflammation medications, local injection of cortisone (epidural injections), and surgical operations. In any case, all people with a disc herniation should rest and avoid reinjuring the disc. Sometimes, even people with relatively severe pain early on can respond to conservative measures without the need for surgical intervention.
Avatar f tn You herniated the disc you had surgery on???? Please share.
Avatar n tn Without the ability to obtain a history from you and examine you, I can not comment on whether or not you need surgery for your disc. however, I will try to provide you with some information regarding this matter. by ruputured disc, I am going to assume you have a herniated disc. If instead you have a vertebral body fracture or some other problem, the discussion below may not apply. There is a material that cushions the space occuring between the vertebra (bones of the spine).
Avatar m tn It is most commonly caused due to a herniated disc or adjacent bone, tumor, muscle irritating the nerve. treatment options include addressing the underlying cause for the symptoms, medications to relieve pain and inflammation and relax muscles, physical therapy. Surgical options for persisting sciatica includes nerve decompression at the lower spine level. Consult an orthopaedician for prescription of pain medicines and muscle relaxants. I hope this helps.
Avatar m tn I was only on the prednisone for 10 days. It was a front loaded dose that tapered off to avoid cold turkey. The machine I am using is the one the Doc gave me in her office. I used it twice in her office to test and the numbers I came up with matched pretty closely the numbers she had gotten from me on her meter so I am guessing it is not a meter issue. I also just got this a few days ago so I don't think a recalibration would be needed so soon.
617398 tn?1225421512 So I was thinking when every time I have these episodes I have had epideral shots in my back for L5 s1 herniated disc which has steriods in them.My last 2 shots were in July and my pvcs were crazy then but I never thought if the 2 were related ? Anyone heard of any coralation between the 2 ?
Avatar n tn I finally demanded an MRI and is showed a herniated disc. After more prednisone and Hydrocodon to ease the pain, I was finally referred to a neurosurgeon for his opinion. It tooks six weeks to get in, ridiculous. After looking at my MRI, he basically said I can see if it continues to improve on it's own, or opt for the surgery.
Avatar f tn I had been diagnosed with a small herniated disc in my lower back. Lumbar l-5. I have been dealing with back pain since April 2015. I've already been treated by a chiropractor for 8 weeks with no relief. I then Was referred to a pain management doctor and had a total of three epidurals and still no relief. My pain is so bad that I can't stand for more then 5 minutes at a time and have pain all around my back and pelvic area, And all the way down my legs.
Avatar n tn thanks for the answer. i been in therapy for 6 weeks now. they just found out i had c 5-6 disc herniation. i was in a rear end car accident in march. i was sent to a neurologist and he suggests pain management and neck traction.is it possiable to resume my duties at the post office. im a rural carrier there. if so what would be the restrictions if any.
Avatar m tn Herniated disc doesn’t cause swollen glands in the neck. Please consult a neurologist for the treatment of the herniated disc and examination of the swollen glands in the neck to find out the cause of swelling. Hope this helps you. Take care and regards!
1136103 tn?1260667675 Hey all About two years ago I was at work lifting things when I felt a jolt in my lower back, the jolt went from my head to my toes. It felt like my leg was on fire and it would go numb and if I was not holding on to something I would fall the pain in my lower back was unreal I felt like taking my own life it was the worst pain I have ever felt. Please keep in mind I am a health as can be 30 year old. Never was hurt never really saw doctors growing up.
Avatar n tn Can anyone tell me if a small herniated disc with slight cord impingement cause upper middle abdominal pressure? The herniated disc is at T6 and T7.
Avatar m tn is the postero paramediane position of the herniated disc,is it a bad position or a regular position of the herniated disc. Cause they say to me that the postero paramediane is not the common position where the herniated disc exits.
Avatar m tn I posted this in the neurosurgery forum and a member suggested I post it here as well. I have been having neck/shoulder blade, left arm pain and tingling in my left hand since Jan. The tingling has gotten a little better but everything else is the same, and over the past 2 weeks my pain level has been at the higher end of my range more often than before. I have already tried anti-inflammatories, muscle relaxers, Prednisone, and 3 months of PT with no change.
Avatar n tn I've just been diagnosed with a herniated disc. My option is a shot or back surgery. Any suggestions?
Avatar f tn i have herniated disc L-4,L5 L-3 dimenssion 3 mm , I am in my second epidural shot, and I didn't see improvements, actually I feel worse, numbess.
Avatar m tn i have an postero paramediane herniated disc in l5-s1 first grade.i have done physical therapy, ultasound, laser therapy and still i have pain in the back and in my right leg.what should i do? i havent done surgery and i dont want to do it.what else can i do?
Avatar n tn The pain is unilateral-right and most severe on the top and side of the head and at the base of the neck. Her right eye tears and right nostril runs. She has a herniated disc in her neck but the doctors have said this is unrelated. Steroids helped a while back, but now they're back again and steroids, antiseizure meds, and painkillers don't help. A couple doctors have looked at the MRIs and haven't found anything obvious.
Avatar f tn I finally had surgery for a herniated disc in 11/10. Definitely try therapy. I also had pain injections in my lower back. Since I waited so long to have surgery, I was told it would take approximately a yr. to heal, but I am still in a lot of pain. I live in LA and here you don't need a prescription for a TENS unit. I bought mine at a pharmacy. When in use, it disrupts the pain signals, but as soon as you take it off, the pain returns.
Avatar f tn You have herniated intervertebral disc, which is causing compressive neuropathy. The treatment options that your have are NSAIDs, opioids, physiotherapy, epidural injections of steroids to reduce the inflammation, these can be repeated over few weeks, administered by a pain physician/anesthesiologist under fluoroscopic guidance. This should not interfere with your physiotherapy. If these options do not provide relief and pain, keep recurring, surgical decompression is the last option.
1448748 tn?1312956208 I had an MRI done at first showing only minimal facet degeneration in the lumbar area and I have had a herniated disc in my c-4,c5 disc since I have been imaged as well. I had posterior fossa decompression surgery in August 2011 to relieve my Chiari 1 malformation symptoms. I am also on 4mg prednisone daily because I have stopped producing my own cortisol. My testosterone, estrogen, progesterone, fsh and lsh are also low and prolactin 5.0.
