Avatar f tn I'm taking Prednisone for buzzing in the head/ear and it stops it. I was prescribed 1 20 mg tblet per day for 5 days. The awful buzzing stopped for 3 weeks after I used it for 5 days. Then it started again. So I went to ER and they said I had so much wax in my right ear that it was impacted and covering my ear drum so they cleaned it out. I had no buzzing for two days; also they prescribed the Prednisone again for 5 days. I took ONE AND REALIZED IT WORK IMMEDIATELY. The awful noise stopped.
Avatar f tn I have had tinnitus and vertigo for many years. 7 years ago I was put on prednisone for myalgia pain. My pain went away but it had no affect on my hearing. It did affect my belly....it bloated out like a pregnant woman...lol...I got off prednisone back in january of this year. If you can avoid it then avoid it. If you need it for other reasons and not for hearing then I guess you have to continue taking it until it does not good for you.
1580703 tn?1651904887 I on week 4 of the infection and I've never been this sick before- I am still wheezing when I exhale and have some bloody mucus out of my nose and ear problems and mental foginess.
Avatar f tn Yes, I know about inner ear disorders/problems because I have had problems myself. Sounds like you possibly have Labyrinthitis, which is NOT easy to treat. So, prepare yourself because this problem could persist for months. Have you been prescribed anything, i.e. Antivert/Serc? Prednisone? ATB?
Avatar n tn Every doctor seems to think it is allergies. I have also recently been to an ear, nose, and throat specialist. Shows chronic sinus problems but no current infection and no need for surgery at the present time. I also do the sinus rinse and have veramyst spray. Ear, nose, and throat specialist said to keep doing what I am doing and contact him in 2 months. I also have GERD and am currently taking Nexium since last May 2007.
Avatar n tn I have been seeing a Neurologist for other problems and one was double vision. I am awaiting blood tests and the last MRI to come back. I am confused as to the eye problems. I have had two bouts of vertical double vision (crystal clear) for less than 2 minutes. Now I consistently have vertical double vision with contrasting objects. Night time or day as long as the objects are light and dark. The Brain MRI came back with slight inflammation of the LEFT optic nerve.
Avatar m tn I have been prescribed prednisone for a hearing loss issue today. Ive been und since July 2011. I have not yet taken my post tx vl test although all my blood work looks good. Avatar n tn my 9 year old dog has been on prednisone for 6 weeks for ITP and we are weaning her off now.
Avatar f tn Hi, Thanks for responding but this didn't really answer my question. I am being treated for the headaches & ear pain w/ the Prednisone. I am wanting answers on what could be causing my headache & ear pain. I am aware of the side effects of Prednisone.
Avatar f tn ve been on 2 different Antibiotics, Prednisone, and Prilosec since these symptoms appeared. The Prednisone worked wonders but, 2 days after I finished it, the symptoms returned. The weirdest thing about it is it's not like I've been down and out sick. The trachea pain is what has me really worried. I have an appt to see an ENT tomorrow, hopefully he'll be able to help me out. Has anyone else experienced this or have insight as to what the cause could be?
Avatar f tn A few weeks ago I was sleeping on my left side with my head on the arm of the couch and woke up and couldn't hear out of my left ear. Went to the ENT, said it was a viral middle ear infection and treated it with prednisone. In 2 weeks my hearing has come back "slightly". I have no pain, however my ear does feel swollen. What other treatments could I try to recover my hearing?
Avatar f tn Should I skip more othe oral Prednisone and ask the ENT to prescribe the steroid injections sooner rather than later? He is having me wait 3 weeks from the start of the 7-day Prednisone course for the steroid injections. Is there any point at all to waiting this long and not doing it ASAP? I might be answering my own question here, but one of the frustrating things about this whole syndrome is the lack of really good research.
Avatar m tn I have been on prednisone foe 4 to 5 years, dosages from 25 down to 1 mg for most of that time. I got real sick all of sudden and had to go to 40 to 50 mg per day for about 1 year. I know I need to get off them. now taking about 20 per day. can I get off them after so long????
293157 tn?1285873439 Physio said that he can try to help my Vertigo if it's from inner ear... I told him I went to two ENT a few years ago and they tested me with water in the ears etc..visual, hearing...etc.. and said it wasn't my inner ear..? He said if Prednisone helps stop the Vertigo then it's not inner ear..and it stops my Vertigo... but when I stop the Prednisone it comes back worst then ever...
250986 tn?1229917298 The doctor put him on a pill for dizziness and prednisone. The pill for dizziness has not helped at all. I dont know how long it takes for prednisone to work maybe it will help...He has been dizzy sense wed. at 4pm...Im kind of worried this really is not normal. The dizziness started before the fall he fell because of the dizziness. His blood pressure and everything is normal..The doctor said if this prednisone does not work we need to call him..I wish I could find some kind of answers..
Avatar f tn I have a call in there today, she is also shaking her head a lot , and rubbing her ears , they think she may have ear infection, so will find out today, but thankyou for the help.... she does have severe seizures why all the meds, but this seems to be additional, they seem to think it sounds like ears problem...
Avatar n tn My daughter had a severe sinus infection with fluid/ear pressure buildup so painful, the doctor prescribed 20 mg of Prednisone, taken 3 times a day (60 mg) for 7 days, reduce to 2 for 2 days, then 1 for 1 day to keep from 'damaging her ear drum because the fluid buildup was so bad'. She's been taking it for 5 days and feel sick to her stomach, headaches - the only thing that has left is the pain in her ears. Is that an overdose what they gave her? Are these the side effects?
Avatar f tn My son is 15 and has suffered with asthma since age 5. He has asthmatic bronchitis and allergies. He's been on prednisone for attacks since age 5. He takes allergy shots. He blows 124% on PFTs when he is well, lower when he is sick but still 100+. Dr. said his lung capacity is approx. 120+ percent of normal. This last episode, Dr. found reduced but good lung function as measured by PFT, no sinus infection and says he is moving air.
Avatar f tn Hi, I just went to an ENT ear spec last week and am also going to have an mri next week. I have had tinnitus my whole life and it never really occurred to me to have it checked cause I'm so used to it, but I've been having hearing loss on and off for sev. months in one ear and a speach therapist at my school recommended I check it out. ANYWAY, the good news for you is that he told me bilateral tinnitus like yours possibly is a better prognosis.
Avatar f tn m 36 years old - good health and had sudden onset vertigo/slight hearing loss/pressure in one ear. I went to the doctor immediately and was given prednisone (steroid). The vertigo has gone away almost completely but, the hearing loss has remained. I had a MRI check and several blood tests that checked out completely normal. The doctor suggested I have Labrythintitis. It has been almost 4 weeks and the hearing is still about 75%.
Avatar f tn Back in July I found I had an ear infection and a piece of wax rattling around deep in my ear canal. I was also told I had liquid behind the ear drum causing pressure. So I took prednisone and antibiotics. The infection cleared but the pressure never went away. So I decided to see a specialist (ENT) he removed wax from both ears and told me there was no issue. So I left feeling great. But the pressure had returned.
3839438 tn?1348612583 t go away after the amoxicillin, I go back for blood work because he thinks its my thyroid. If nothing there, then I go for scan. No other medical problems. This is the third time I have had vertigo and it has never lasted this long. I believe 7 days was all it lasted times before.
Avatar f tn We have a Westie that has had a lot of problems with skin yeast infections. He has also had ear infections for which prescription drops were used for a couple of weeks. That worked, but he still has some ear itch, or maybe rubbing is ears on the rug just feels good, I know he likes me to rub his ears as do most dogs.
