I'm taking Prednisone for buzzing in the head/ear and it stops it. I was prescribed 1 20 mg tblet per day for 5 days. The awful buzzing stopped for 3 weeks after I used it for 5 days. Then it started again. So I went to ER and they said I had so much wax in my right ear that it was impacted and covering my ear drum so they cleaned it out. I had no buzzing for two days; also they prescribed the Prednisone again for 5 days. I took ONE AND REALIZED IT WORK IMMEDIATELY. The awful noise stopped.
I have been prescribed prednisone for a hearing loss issue today. Ive been und since July 2011. I have not yet taken my post tx vl test although all my blood work looks good. I was wondering if anybody has any info on this. I looked on past posts and found it all to be old and not real specific. Thanks ahead of time!!
hi everyone- has anyone here ever been given prednisone for a prolonged migraine? if so, how long did it take to kick in? thanks!
We went to the vet 3 days ago and it was drained and followed by prednisone steroids for 5 days. Yesterday on our nightly walk which was the 2nd day of steroids he started dragging his left hind toe nails as if he didn't want to lift his foot all the way. The top of his foot would drag the ground as he moved forward so much so that it filed off down to the quick of his nail. Could this be a result of the steroids maybe making him tired and lazy or just a coincidence ...
She is on 1/4 tab of Prednisone (5mg) and on Clavamox for 8 days and will be starting Zeniquin 25 mg 1/4 tab daily. I wish i could show you a pic of her skin it looks horrible. It started at 4 months old and she is now 14 months old. The vet said she has pemphigus fol autoimmune disease. But could have hypothyroidism or something else. She gained 14 oz she is 3.13 chihuahua.
I was just diagnosed with a nodule and enlarged thyroid. I have have had coughing and ear problems for two years. No one has been able to figure out why. I think when they remove my thyroid, the ear problems with go away along with the cough. It has been mostly my right ear and the scans show the thyroid pushing my trahcea way over to the right. I think it is causing all the itching and popping sounds from my right ear. They said that the coughing was allergies which I have never had.
Yes, I know about inner ear disorders/problems because I have had problems myself. Sounds like you possibly have Labyrinthitis, which is NOT easy to treat. So, prepare yourself because this problem could persist for months. Have you been prescribed anything, i.e. Antivert/Serc? Prednisone? ATB?
Hi, THank you so much for everything. I have no problems with MRI's. They dont scare me one bit. The only thing is waiting for the results. This was my 6th MRI since late JUly.. I have had 3 cervical MRI's so far, thoracic and lumbar MRI and now a brain MRI. My only question is they did an MRI in October of the cervical region with contrast and it was negative for infection.. Are there sometimes false negatives? The MRI's I had today were a little more different today..
the dumb PA in my doctors office gave me prednisone for vertigo!!!!!!! she thought I had fluid in my ear causing the imbalance. Dummy didnt have sense to refer me to a ENT!!! When all was said and done, my dizziness aka VERTIGO, was a result from very low iron, my hemoglobin was 8!!! I have very heavy menstration so im anemic. Anyway, just goes to show you are dumb and lazy PA's and some doctors are. You should be better after you fully stop Pred. Give your body 2 months, give or take.
I was just wondering why my doc has me on prednisone for my adrenal insufficiancy and not hydrocortisone?
Yes the information online about prednisone may scare you but they have to list all the possibles even if they are very unlikely or rarely happen. The real critical problems with prednisone usually come when high doses are given frequently. This is usually repeated injections of high dose steroids (prednisone is just one type of steroid and actually not a really strong one at that).
I have an autoimmune problem and have been on many different kind of drugs for several problems and have found prednisone to be totally wicked in that aspect. I too am experiencing all the negative affects and have days where I want to just crawl up into a ball and cry because of it all.
Thanks for the advice. I know that prolonged prednisone use is not wise even when it is only 10 mg every other day. I despise the stuff and, in fact, stopped using it on my own and sought out a doctor with whom to discuss the odd results I was getting and to set up a relationship where I could continue that or a comparable treatment under their supervision. Not much luck there. I haven’t had a very good run of luck finding doctors who will listen to me.
It sounds like eustacian tube dysfunction. My ENT prescribed prednisone for that. Then ordered sinus rinses, Afrin nasal spray used twice a day for 3 day then not used for 3 days in a cycle, and a decongestant. If it is ETD, he will probably need a short burst of pred to clear his ears, so he will need to see his doctor. I hope that helps, and please let us know how he is doing. Take care and God bless.
I am on 60 mg/day for 5 days, then 40 mg/day for 5 days, and finally 20 mg/day for 5 days. Will the worst of any weight problems likely come on early? I need to travel next week and again the week after that, and hope not to be feeling all bloated and miserable on top of the stress that travel gives me. Plus it always helps to look and feel my best for presentations and such. I've worked very hard to lose almost 30 pounds in the last 3.
You need to get rid of the primary care doctor and go see an ear, nose and throat doctor ASAP. The fact that you have been on a sleeping pill for 5 years does not sound very good. You should try sudafed or allergy medicine. You should ask your doctor for a course of steroides whci can really clear up your sinus. See the ear nose and throat doctor is what you really need to do. There is no quick easy solution when it comes to your sinus's.
My husband has had a chest cold for a couple of weeks but yesterday said his ear hurt. I told him (as the bossy wife I am) to go to the doctor. He couldn't yesterday due to meetings so let it go. Today when he woke up, his ear looks horrible. It is swollen, red and shiny on the lobe, going about half way up, around the front of it with a hard, red area right by where you go down the ear canal on the outside.
and he has not called me so I will call tomorrow to get the results of that test. I also forgot to mention that the allergist put me on prednisone and for a couple of days I felt great but it came back like two days after I was done with the pills.
I've had my ears checked 2-3 times - ok, had my eyes checked - ok, been to a chiroprator for neck pressure problems - was out of alignment. I've been aligned now, but still have the symptoms. Now seeing an Internist who suggested an MRI to check my Brain, Blood Tests, maybe thyroid problem, but he thinks it's most likely Atypical Migraines. I do work on the computer evryday doing graphics, but not always in front of the computer. I move around quite often. Work under Flourescent lighting.
maybe you could have a slight ear infection, that has gone down to the inner ear drum, best thing to do if your really worried about it, and it doesnt go away within the next few days is to consult a GP or your local doctor.
I felt tired all the time, no pain in my jaw until later though. The prednisone can help eliminate some fo the swelling in the ear, as its the swelling that gives you that ear fullness, which is why its making you dizzy as the ear is what keeps you balanced. If there is a lot of swelling, it pushes the jaw bone off ever so slightly and can push on the other side, as the jaw is all connected, so commonly effects both sides to some degree.
So can someone tell my mom how much prednisone in my life I can take for safety. She is so afraid of me coming down with more problems and I am now 18.5 lbs and I am a pug so my breathing ain't so good. The vet said dogs of certain weights can take up to certain amount of mg per year and be safe. Does anyone know how many mg? Mom forgot to ask and now vet is on holiday? I really want to stay like this cause I have such relief but Mom is so afraid...
Hi, Thanks for responding but this didn't really answer my question. I am being treated for the headaches & ear pain w/ the Prednisone. I am wanting answers on what could be causing my headache & ear pain. I am aware of the side effects of Prednisone.
i went back and said i have fungal infection. he stuffed my ear with lotrisone cream and gave Rx for prednisone to take for 3 days.i think the antibiotic create a moisture environment for the fungus to grow. i hope this method of stuffing my ear with this cream for two days will get rid of it and not cause any damage to my hearing.
Health care experts usually divide sinusitis cases into Acute, which lasts for 3 weeks or less Chronic, which usually lasts for 3 to 8 weeks but can continue for months or even years Recurrent, which is several acute attacks within a year Health care experts estimate that 37 million Americans are affected by sinusitis every year. Health care workers report 33 million cases of chronic sinusitis to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention annually.
I don't know where I'd be without prednisone...been a miricle drug for me. When i was dx with RA 14 yrs ago - i was in the killer pain like the one I'm in now in tx (great flashbacks) They tried everything - celebrx, methyltrexate, Imuran, gold etc. Was alergic to all of them - then tried prednisone and have been on it every since. It's inexpensive and really works.
has it caused depression? It just came on to me last sunday...never had problems before. I'm on prednisone now, for it....I've heard it can be caused by many different things...may go away...may be relieved if the cause is uncovered....may never go away...damn, it depresses me....I wouldn't want to live like this forever....
I am from Ireland and have had problems with my ear as far back as I can remember. For years my right ear has been getting blocked on and off and will clear itself for a few weeks/months - never fully, and then out of nowhere it will be blocked again. Symptoms include; 1. Fullness in the ear 2. Crackling noise that sounds like your ear is blocked 3. Reduced hearing 4. Constant popping 5. Swallowing of fluid down the back of the throat 6. Tinnitus (comes and goes) 7.
Eventually, after MRI, Spinal Tap, x-ray, and blood tests, I was diagnosed with viral meningitis, resulting in nerve damages to my ear and a mild case of Bell's Palsey. They put me on Prednisone for the nerve damage to my ear. Unfortunately, I'm having a lot of serious side effects from the prednisone...i'm feeling worse than before. While this may not be your condition whatsoever, as i'm only a patient, maybe you can discuss it with your doctor re vestibular labyrinthitis: http://www.
My right ear could only hear certain pitches, when a plane would go by it would sound as if I was listening to it with headphones, and thats all my ear would be able to hear. This was the case for a few days but started to get better, with hearing starting to come back. But as of last night (ten days later) it returned, but now with dizziness, and a hot feeling around my ear with numbness.
