13746467 tn?1441840515 I suffer from severe anxiety and recently went to the dr for bronchitis. He prescribed me prednisone after I told him it makes me panic. He said it will subside but I honestly can't add more anxiety than I already have. Is there something else that can be prescribed to help with the bronchitis other then prednisone? My dr says No and I need to deal with it....ugh Please help....
Avatar n tn Felt exhausted after serious bout of bronchitis and long term use of Prednisone. Tested positive for hypothyroid and put on Synthroid 50 mcg daily. OK for two days. A little sick on the third day. Thought I would die on the fourth day. My stomach was so upset with a burning sensation. I was nauseous and I developed a bad headache with horrible dizziness. Do you think that I have been mis-diagnosed?
Avatar f tn My doctor recently prescribed prednisone to help treat a bad bout of bronchitis I've been fighting to reduce the inflammation in my lungs. I didn't mention that I was starting to get another cold on top of the bronchitis, a little bit of a stuffy nose and a sore throat. The nice thing is that the prednisone has helped alleviate those cold symptoms, but I've read that it can weaken your immune system. I'm only supposed to take the prednisone for 5 days total.

Avatar f tn Both my daughter and I have been sick with flu type illness and bronchitis for almost two weeks. Even though our flu tests came back neg the urgent care dr feels we did have the flu. We went back to see urgent care dr yesterday for the 3rd time since being sick. My daughter still have episodes of coughing and dyspnea. The dr at urgent care did do xray on me but not on my daughter. Sent me on my way with increased dose of prednisone and told me i was wheezing.
Avatar n tn There I was diagnosed with bronchitis and given a Z-Pac antibiotic, a Proventil inhaler, albuterol in a nebulizer and prednisone tablets. After finishing these medications I felt slightly better but still very weak, achy, no energy. I returned to my regular dr on the next visit and rales were heard in my chest with ear pain, headaches. My diagnosis was then bronchitis that turned into pneumonia, double ear infection, sinus infection.
Avatar n tn I have also had multiple episdoes of bronchitis. Last month I had bronchitis. This month again I have bronchitis. Could this be a immune system problem? I am extremely tired.
Avatar n tn I still have a cough, and went to a walk in today, and the doctor thought I might have bronchitis or pneumonia. I usually take prednisone for my breathing difficulties. Will this help with the possible broc/pne? She suggested 5 20mg. a day for 7 days. Has anyone had an experience like this? I am leaving on a cruise Sunday, and do not want to be sick. If you can help, I would appreciate it.
Avatar f tn My son is 15 and has suffered with asthma since age 5. He has asthmatic bronchitis and allergies. He's been on prednisone for attacks since age 5. He takes allergy shots. He blows 124% on PFTs when he is well, lower when he is sick but still 100+. Dr. said his lung capacity is approx. 120+ percent of normal. This last episode, Dr. found reduced but good lung function as measured by PFT, no sinus infection and says he is moving air.
Avatar m tn Hello, So I went to the doctor cause I thought I was getting pneumonia and the Doc had me do a PFT (which was low at 70 percent) and a blood O2 test (94 percent) and said that I had bronchitis and put me on some prednisone and a z-pack. After I finshed my meds I still felt the same. So I set up another appointment and right before I went in I started to feel better but my tests only showed I improved ten percent.
Avatar n tn I do not have chronic bronchitis but I've had bronchitis and only took prednisone for a small amount of time. The best treatment for me turned out to be switching from Flovent 110, my normal dosage, to 220 whenever I felt a cold coming on.
Avatar f tn He gave you prednisone for a cold? I would think that 24 hours is time to get it out of your system but it would be better to ask the Pharmacist at your drug store, and certainly enquire about the prednisone maybe the Doc thinks you have something aswell as a cold?
Avatar n tn Prednisone is often given orally to patients who need to take it for any duration. For instance I use prednisone for a few weeks when my asthma is very bad. In order to get faster relief, the prednisone can be injected into the body. This is done only in the hospital as an emergency basis, because the asthma patient or any patient in respiratory distress is at high risk of death. After that the patient is then given oral prednisone till the lungs have recovered to 80% of their lung function.
1580703 tn?1651904887 there may be anti-inflammatory compounds in azithromycin which could be a future drug with research my headaches are helped by prednisone and my circulation is better on prednisone. when I have asthma I feel pain at the temples and trouble thinking.

233622 tn?1279334905 I was just on prednisone in varying amounst from 20-60mgs daily for 4 months recently and sure expected to gain, but they said I had to take it to get rid of stubborn bronchitis. I'm one of those who usually gains just looking at something. For some reason I did not here. I ended up exactly the SAME! I did sweat a lot taking the steroids and I have not felt like eating whereas most people say they feel like eating more.
Avatar n tn I found out I had gerd after getting a sore throat and then bronchitis. After the bronchitis I had asthma for the first time in my life. The asthma seemed to have lightened up but over the weekend I felt the acid get in my lungs again. :( I think if it keeps getting into your lungs it can cause pulonary fibrosis which has no cure. If the drs cant find out whats causing my reflux I'm going for surgery - my granma died of PF and its very painful.
Avatar f tn didn’t do a culture test to determine if indeed I had a bacterial infection), gave me new albuterol inhaler, and cough suppressant medication (which I did not take). I was half way through antibiotic medication, still short of breath, and I have an asthmatic attack so I go back in less than a week to the clinic. Inhaler not helping me, can’t sleep at night. This time doctor gives me a shot of prednisone, and prescribes me prednisone tablets (4 mg) for 6 days.
920958 tn?1477577593 I have had Chronic Bronchitis/Asthma Exacerbation since the end of May. (Recurring for 8 yrs on & off) I've been taking antibiotics, prednisone, symbicort, breathing treatments every 6 hours & cough syrup with codeine. I have been in the hospital twice. The symptoms have not gotten better. I went to my Pulmonary doctor yesterday and was given more prednisone and symbicort.
Avatar f tn I went to Doctor today and he put me on prednisone for the week. I am supposed to do 40mg for 2 days, 30 for 2 days, 20 for 2 days, and 1 for 2 days. I took my first dose today and wonder how long it takes for it to work? I still don't feel great which could also be the cold I suppose. Who gets a cold in the summer anyway? Awful.
454221 tn?1259445739 Thank you so much for your advice. Is it common for someone who has never had asthma for 30 years to all of a sudden develop asthma? How does this happen? If it turns out to be asthma will it or could it get worse overtime? Or could it be mild like it is now? So for all the questions. I have an appt. with pulmonary on April 16th. So I will let you know what I find out. Thanks again.
Avatar f tn In looking at the drug interaction information, it seems that those who are taking the corticosteriods, are even more at risk for muscle rupture and more at risk for developing pneumonia. A chest x-ray a couple of days ago confirmed that I do NOT have pneumonia now, but I can still hear sounds in my lungs when I do deep breathing.
Avatar n tn I dont think i explained chronic bronchitis correctly.
Avatar n tn I went to the doctor 12 days ago was told I had bronchitis and asthma Got z pack and prednisone and prednisone shot. Not any better - now slight cough, headache, congestion, dizzy and flushed and at night wake up all sweaty.
Avatar f tn Hi. I was diagnosed with a severe case of bronchitis July 9th. Dr expressed concerns of it being a bacterial infection since I had had the cough for so long already. He prescribed the following 3 meds for me: a z-pack, cough syrup with codeine, & prednisone. I took my meds everyday & never missed any dosages. By this past Tuesday, July 14th, but by Thursday, July 16th I felt terrible again.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with pneumonia 4 days ago when I went in for pain in my heart area and shortness in breath.. I'm on antibiotics, still can't cough anything out but today I started feeling pain in my lower back area where kidneys are. I urinate every 10, 15 minutes and the color in clear.. My mouth is dry all the time which I think is a side effect from the antibiotics. Could have the pneumonia caused issues in my kidneys or bladder???
1580703 tn?1651904887 If your present medications are not helping with the symptoms, it is best that you inform your attending physician for proper management. A change of medication or dosage may also be indicated. Treatment for bronchitis is usually supportive. And patients with underlying lung diseases such as asthma are usually at greater risk of developing recurring infection. Do keep us posted. Take care and best regards.
Avatar m tn There are no new allergy triggers in his life, this started after he had and was treated for bronchitis (antibiotics and prednisone for the swelling) and I've read that infections can trigger autoimmune disease. I didn't make it clear that this has been going on for six months. It is not more severe, but the same as the time before each time it happens. I will try the vitamins you recommended.
17484539 tn?1580565249 I'm down with acute bronchitis which I get every 2-3 years and which normally lasts 1-2 weeks & then I'm symptom-free. i'm on a round of Levaquin 7 days) and prednisone short term (5 days) covid test negative and no pneumonia, however on the chest X-ray was written "signs of COPD changes." What the heck does that mean and how is COPD really diagnosed? I'm an ex-smoker, stopped in 1982.
Avatar f tn Everything came back normal and clear so they diagnosed me with bronchitis and gave me prednisone and proair inhaler. This morning I woke up with a pain in my upper back, around shoulder blade, still hard time breathing deep breaths and an excruciating headache. Is it possible I have a missed pulmonary embolism or is this intact how bronchitis is diagnosed and acts? I forgot to mention I have NO cough...only when using inhaler. Thank you!
