Avatar n tn I am on 5 mg of prednisone and cellcept as well. Can I ask why you stopped taking the cellcept? My Dr is trying to lower me off of the prednisone all together and just stay on the cellcept. I was on 10 mg of pred 4 weeks ago, down to 7.5 mg 2 weeks ago and just got reduced to 5 mg. My numbers are staying in great shape, but I am still holding steady on the cellcept. I have been battling AIH for a year and a half. Nothing has worked w/the prednisone accept for cellcept.
1515564 tn?1431383300 Hi Eluriajen: I had mine tested and they were normal, however they recommend everyone in Canada now take Vitamin D supplements due to our lack of sunshine. I take 4000 mg a day. Canada has a high rate of certain autoimmune diseases such as MS, and there is some theory it is due to lack of sunshine (Vitamin D). I have shown low B12 on my last two blood tests which seems funny to me and I am now supplementing for that as well.
Avatar f tn About 3 weeks ago, it was determined by blood test that he had a vitamin d deficiency, and his doctor put him on 50,000 iu of vitamin d per week. Very gradually he has started to have extreme anxiety, and trouble sleeping. This is something he has never had before, and it is very baffling, he is not under any particular stress. He had his thyroid checked yesterday with a blood test, and the test came back normal. Any suggestions?
Avatar f tn Hi everyone! Well, since the last time I wrote, I have seen my MS neuro, my PCP, neurosurgery, and an ENT. I have had a nerve conduction study, lyme (ELISA) blood test repeat, free T4, west nile titer, audiogram, and vitamind d level check. All came back "normal" except for the vitamin d. My level was at 16. They put me on 50,000 IU per week for 8 weeks with another blood draw to follow.

Avatar m tn Prevalence of Vitamin D Deficiency Today, many doctors order blood tests for 25-hydroxy vitamin D. Results show that vitamin D deficiency is common in people of all ages. In another report published in Science Daily in July, 2007, researchers reported that many otherwise healthy children and adolescents have low vitamin D levels. The article reports that vitamin D deficiency puts children at risk for bone diseases such as rickets.
Avatar f tn Vitamin D3 is made in the skin when 7-dehydrocholesterol absorbs UVB ultraviolet light at wavelengths between 270 - 300 nm * Kidney and liver disease - vitamin D is processed (metabolized) by the liver and kidneys into an active form of vitamin D * Hashimoto's Thyroiditis - genetic defects in the receptor site for vitamin D. More vitamin D is needed than the average person * Parathyroid conditions (parathyroid - glands in front of the thyroid).
Avatar m tn Whenever you see the doctor you should make sure that they always test you for the biologically active thyroid hormones, Free T3 and Free T4. Since hypo patients are frequently too low in the ranges for Vitamin D, B12 and ferritin, you should also try to get those tested.
1096523 tn?1257646845 Do some research on the long term effect of prednisone, and you might want to reconsider (prednisone can cause damage to liver as well...). Since your liver is targeted, look into taking milk thistle (silymarin..protects liver from toxins) as a supplement. Orthodox MDs seldom give much attention to letting the body heal itself, they need to prescribe toxic drugs.

Avatar m tn I have been suffering from dermatographia for the last 10 months. I have been on prednisone and 6 different anti histamines that barely help. I've went to 3 immunologist and a dermatologist and everyone tells me there isnt much they can do to find the cause of the problem. They seemed to get worse everytime after prednisone was prescribed. I've been on an anti inflammatory diet, keto diet, candida diet, leaky gut diet, alkaline diet, detox (Green juice) diet and those didnt work either.

1627204 tn?1302012537 My new Rheumatologist is very interested in treating me. He was compassionate, and curious, and thorough. He asked good questions. He told me to stay on 20mg Prednisone for the time being. I will start Plaquinyl (400mg/day) for 6 months. Methotrexate (6 2.5mg tablets orally once a week) for 6 months. Folic Acid & Vitamin C and he wants me to keep up with Omega 3, Vitamin D and the Pro-biotics. I will get my current lump aspirated by my surgeon on Monday.
Avatar f tn About 3 weeks ago, a blood test showed a vitamin D deficiency, and his doctor started him on 50000iu vitamin D3 per week. Over the 3 weeks since starting the vitamin D, he has had extreme anxiety which is much worse upon awakening in the mornings, although it does go on all day. This is very unusual for him, as he is retired, and under no particular stress at all.

696538 tn?1229392554 Can anyone tell me what is the purpose of the Cortisol Bind Glob (CBG) blood test? What exactly is it measuring? I took the test and although my cortisol levels are below normal (2.5), the CBG was high normal (ref range: 19 - 45 mg/L -- mine 45). Vitamin D below normal too ( was 19 but has come up to 29). My ACTH was a low normal (I recall 17 - doctor said he expected it to be high) and my DHEA was below normal (< 15).

Avatar n tn I have had bone pain which my doctor thinks is due to extreme vitamin D deficiency. My thyroid function is low. I am on Synthroid and 50, 000 units of Vitamin D/week. I am 32 years old and am at a healthy weight. I cannot get the thought of cancer out of my mind. I'm afraid that my bone pain could be due to bone cancer. Now, of course, I'm afraid that I could have a brain tumor and that one is primary and the other secondary.
Avatar m tn Sometimes it felt like acid thrown on it and sometime it felt like a my hair had been pulled too long and the area in the head was sore. Blood work showed low B12 (247) and Vitamin D (8). I took a B12 shot Last Monday and the muscle weakness and weird sensation in the leg went away. A day or two later I started to inhale steam and the burning sensation is 1-2 on a scale of 1-10. An appointment with a neurologist determined that my nerve conduction test was normal.
