prednisone and sun

if my doc prescribes me that med, and i take it, and my photosensitivity does not get better and the sun still makes me terribly sick, where do i go from there? does that mean i have to live like a vampire the rest of my life?? i have had to give alot of things up in my life because of being sick with back problems and just always being sick. the only thing i had left that i liked to do was be outside. i love the sun, always did.

but i had some itchy bumps on my left thigh,, and then i the next day i had 5 or 6 mnore ithcy bumps on my left thigh,, my pcp, gave me acorisone cream and benedryl and it started to get better, the next day i picked uyp one of my sons shirts, and it brushed my right elboe, it immediately burned as it touched my skin, i washed it off with technu,,but within a 10 minutes my right elbow became inflamed, and little bumps in a line ran up my arm, it hought this was more poison ivy, showed my primar

I had minor inflammation in my chest and was getting horrible nasty low grade fevers from sun exposure. I started taking 10mg of Prednisone once a day and I got 2 significant malar rashes that came with 24 hours of fever and massive body aches. Then ended up in the hospital for a major Pleurisy attack with possible blood clot in my lungs. So I have been taken off the steriods. We are not sure why my body reacted like that, who knows, maybe it would have been worse with out the Prednisone.

I have seen 6 vets (2 clinics but different vets ) tried Antibiotics, prednisone, baths, dips, skin scrapings and blood work and nothing shows up. The prednisone helped but once off of it she went straight back to BAD. She scratches constantly and is bald all over her back, neck, ears and face. the only area that she doesn't seam to scratch is that which she cant reach with her paws or objects (she will get under the coffee table and use it on her back) .

yeah your doctor is right it is from the sun (but only if u r having some storied for body building) it gets very hot inside your body and with the sun it causes the redness it starts from under lips and goes on........you could just eat some fruits so it will keep u cool ....there is no medicine for it .......it will go in a few weeks ...........

Does anybody know what a biopsy for lupus would show? I had a sun spot biopsied and the GP noted I had a possible autoimmune rash ( I have a malar rash) and the pathologist said I had chronic inflammatory cells around the subepithelial connective tissue. I have had high ESR and CRP, low iron, elevated liver enzymes etc and have responded to prednisone but need an official diagnosis. What would rosacea histopathology show up as?

The rash is typically on my upper cheeks, 1/2 and inch or so below my bottom lip, sometimes and my jaw, and sometimes on my forehead. It seems to be triggered by almost everything. If I ever sleep anywhere other than my house I will surely get it. I also get it from swimming, being in nature (mountain biking and hiking). Being in the sun irritates it. Water makes my skin feel constricted. I also can't wash my face, because that triggers it also.

I was having random face flushing as well especially when I was on oral prednisone and also the IV steroids. It was so obvious that the neuro in the ER was checking every part of my body wondering if I was having some kinds of reaction to the antibiotic I was taking. Of course she prescribed an IV push of 250mg of solu medrol because of this and guess what? More flushing! How do you know when you are getting the flushness?

Good evening~ My sister is having this same type of reaction (x2 days) with it seeming to worsen a little with benadryl and prednisone (steroids). Did you rash clear up, and did you find out what the cause was? Was there a particular medication that cleared it up? Would appreciate any input you can give. Hers is quite severe looking. Thanks!

It didnt help, since this was the first time and I was camping I thought maybe I got bite my a insect (no sun block). That wasnt it. My face and hand was the only thing the sun touch because i had long sleeves on. In the morning my face was swollen veryyyy itchy and clear fluid was on my face. This year same thing I used sun block and that seem to irriate it more immediately I started to itch on face and arms, but not bad.

They itch and are bright red. The only thing that seems to help is a steroid shot and prednisone pack. My face and ears will peel almost like a sunburn. Does this happen to anyone out there? If I sweat during the night I will get itchy. Gold Bond medicated powder helps tremendously. Put it on before you go to bed in areas that you sweat. Neck, chest and even on the insides of your elbows. It does help!

Get her a great new and high condo that she does not have to jump up to but can climb up to and bask in the beautiful warmth of the sun, and SEE all the visual treats (Birds, Bugs, lizards, etc). This is as close to heaven as a cat can get. Most of all YOU must feel upbeat --stress and negativity is something Sami will sense. She needs to live through your optimistic view of her world. .....and ya know , there are hearing aids for cats---yep that's right.

The only treatment that has caused the swelling to disappear is taking prednisone. I had been prescribed prednisone each time this has happened. Allergy medicines such as Benadryl have no effect. I am quite frustrated because each occurrence has been while I was traveling, and has caused me to go get emergency care (one time being out of the country). The only thing I can think of is different climate, being in warm climates?

My doctor prescribed some steriod therapy, a short course of prednisone, and it has been clearing up pretty quickly since then. I'm hoping that I still can go out into the sun though since it's finally summer and I have three children. Do you think I'll consistently have to take precaution or will my skin get used to it? I found out from the MS nurse that the rash I have all over my face, neck, and back is a side effect of my IV Solu-Medrol treatment and the taper dose of prednisone and is not a rash at all, but is acne. I thought the rash was from my sun exposure while in Mexico earlier this week and that the steroids were probably the culprit. So that was half right. But the nurse said it was acne yet it feels more like a rash to me.

I made the mistake of being in the sun and heat (70s) for about 30-45 minutes in April and the rash and itching went wild. I took Hydroxyzine and used clobetesol solution and this calmed the rash and itching. By the following day it was back to "normal" ie fairly well controlled as long as I take Hydroxyzine 50 mg every 6 hours.

Is there a treatment for Polymyalgia and Temporal Arteritis other than prednisone? I do not want to experience the terrible side effects of prednisone again.

However, my doctor uses it himself for his own auto-immune issues, and feels it is very safe and very effective. He plans to wean me off the prednisone next month, and says that because of the Methotrexate, we should be able to wean without the typical backlash (flare-up of symptoms). I always make sure I eat before I take my meds. So far I have had no issues with side effects. I am careful to stay in the shade and use sunscreen, since it is supposed to increase sensitivity to sun.

I have seen 25 doctors and am desperate for a solution. Prednisone is the only thing that will take it away and I can not take any more of that. Have tried almost every type of anti-itch antihistamine cream out there. PLEASE HELP - My profile picture is a photo of my arm. SPF clothing etc helps but does not totally protect. I was dx'd in 2004 with RR MS. My flareup back then began with extreme dizziness after a workout at the beach on a hot sunny day and progressed to affect my vision (optic neuritis) / balance. I have been managing my MS very well but a few days ago I went beach around 3:30 pm ( on a lovely sunny day - 82 degrees and cool breeze) and fell asleep in sun. I wasn't overheated or sunburned. When i awoke I had extreme dizziness and fatigue which has been hard to shake.

In april of 2009 i was walking in a store when suddenly my legs got heavy and I felt as if I could not lift them. The next day I had double vision all day and then my eye turned red and became painful. I eventually went to the doctor for my eye and was told that I had Uveitis. The immediately tested me for auto immune issues and Ms but said that it was all negative. The Uveitis lasted 10 months.

After severall years of travelling, on my most recent vacation I ended up getting a pretty bad sunburn which ended up being sun poisioning and left me with swelling of the face, i got a cortizone shot and took some prednisone and i was fine, the other day I was outside for just a short period of time and I woke up with 2 odd looking red spots the size of a dime one on my forehead the other on my neck the one on my neck was very itchy the one on my forehead was not, I'm wondering if this is a

4 months ago I began a therapy with prednisone (25 mg per day) and one month lather I got tested for hiv 1-2, the result hopefully was negative and all my blood exams were normal (but antibodies against HBV positive, without virus). My doctors said me that hiv is not a problem for me. However i began to worry again because it was been told me that prednisone is an immunosupressant and I fear that it could hide my hiv antibodies. What do you think about? Sould I have to get another test?

I would not be concerned about someone taking prednisone having sex and passing it to their partner. Are you allergic to prednisone for why you are asking?
