3061629 tn?1405458990 I took prednisone 60mg plus 2 steroid dose packs plus a short acting and long acting steroid injection in the past 6 weeks. I have been off all steroids x 3 weeks and am suffering from weakness, tremors, shaking inside and out, feelings of anxiety, shortness of breath, muscle cramps in my legs and feet and extreme lethargy. I'm thinking this must be an adrenal issue. Has anyone had these symptoms after prednisone? I am so anxious and shaky from mid morning until late afternoon.
Avatar f tn I'm currently on prednisone and antibiotic for a horrible case of bronchitis and a severe asthma attack. I've been on prednisone many times in my life due to my asthma, as well as my lupus. This current time, I was given an 80mg shot of Kenalog at Urgent Care the first day I went when I had gotten so sick.
198419 tn?1360242356 Hi All, Does Prednisone give you the racey heart feeling even after your through taking it? I've not been on any since Saturday, and dropped the doses down to only 1 for the last 4 days. I still can't sleep, and it's like my pulse is up, continuous. Not up and down even, just up. Any thoughts?
Avatar f tn The question as posed is meaningless. Prednisone is an immune system depressant, and in some cases the risk is worth the benefit. As stated many people become monsters when they are on this steroid. This is because whenever the immune system is depressed, the body develops a different personality. Genetically, this has survival value. Imagine a human wounded and unable to defend themselves. A verbally agressive action might keep a predator away.
980510 tn?1282010946 Any who- he told me about some of the reactions people can have from it (jittery, energiised, inability to sleep) and if i was one who had this reaction to stop taking them. 1580703 tn?1651904887 First, I will assume that all other asthma medication has failed and that is why you and your doctor have had to resort to prednisone, 10 mg/day. If that is not the case, then attempts to control your asthma with (first) medium-high doses of an inhaled steroid. Persons exhibit varying degrees of sensitivity to oral doses of prednisone, so that is very possible, maybe even likely, that you will experience the side effects you have listed below.
Avatar m tn On the way out I talked to a lady there and I told her I was bipoler and was on prednisone for joint pain. She told me that prednisone can bring on a psychotic phase in normal people and with a pre-existing condition it can be really ugly. Has anyone ever heard of such a thing?
Avatar f tn The swelling in my tongue became very intense and I was put on a 5 day course of prednisone while beginning daily claritin and a nasal spray. I felt great on the prednisone, all of the swelling went away and I could eat again. A few days after stopping the prednisone the swelling started to come back and was extremely painful. I had severe pain in my tongue, chin and jaw. It was difficult for me to open my mouth, much like when I had my wisdom teeth removed.
341655 tn?1240368839 I was just wondering why my doc has me on prednisone for my adrenal insufficiancy and not hydrocortisone?
13746467 tn?1441840515 I am using the nose prongs and my mouth keeps opening and waking me. So the dr wants me to have a new sleep study to try something else. I know nothing about medical terminology or illnesses, only symptoms and problems I'm going through. I will mention the question to my dr to see what he says..... Thanks again.
Avatar f tn Hi WontonJoe, My ears hurt constantly , especially when I swallow or am in the cold or walk around for too long. Every morning I wake up with very swollen eyes and cheeks. Sometimes my eyes are hard to open in the morning because of the swelling. In October I was diagnosed with chronic ortitis then with tonsillitis I was give two doses of antibiotics from the Italian doctors here but their medical system here is very different from America and the treatment was not very successful.
312330 tn?1245176752 granted I had insomnia before I was ever diagnosed with the CSS. I know that prednisone can cause sleep issues, and I really need to get some sleep. I also have ADHD. I've tried trazadone with mixed results. I currently take Prednisone, Qvar, Foradil, Zantac and Adderall. I would prefer not to add another pill to the mix if I can help it, the less med interactions I chance the better....any suggestions? It's quite common for it to be after 3am before I can get to sleep...
Avatar m tn It is related to both asthma and sleep apnea. Prednisone should help with asthma symptoms and GERD can give you the exact same symptoms (I'm proof of that - wheezing, lowered peak flows, positive lung function tests, coughing). The best test for this is 24 pH monitoring or impedance testing - it measures the reflux over a 24 hour period to diagnose.
1265027 tn?1284839951 I went to a neurologist March 30 and finally a doctor who confirmed that prednisone causes all these symptoms! Prednisone itself doesnt stay in your system long. But the side effects and temporary damage can last for weeks to a few months. But should go away. As for the Klopinin, I would only use it if I only needed it! They gave me xanax and vallium and still have them. Those meds are very addictive. And if taken too much, once you try to stop, you may get horrible withdrawl side effects.
1580703 tn?1651904887 I had tracheotomy done and was wondering if it is really a great treatment for asthma and sleep apnea. I could exhale better on the trach a shiley 6 and my blood O2 levels were good but I was dizzy and exhausted for 1 month after the surgery. the vertigo went away after a course of prednisone in the month after the surgery I couldn't sleep well or for long hours. In the beginning I also had a hard time learning new words/thinking quickly- I began to question the surgery.
Avatar m tn His blood sugar was very low(40). The vet said to treat the symptoms and put him on Prednisone, 5 mg, twice a day. While it seemed to improve his blood sugar(I tested his blood), he had periods of excitement and heavy panting for hours. I was concerned about heart attack and I cut his dosage to 5mg three times a day, then 2. After a month of so, he started to develop a severe cough. Dry, but with almost every breath. This continues today, after 4 months.
1523516 tn?1330044257 I started Prednisone yesterday 200 mg for 5 days and then it tapers down from there (can't remember off the top of my head right now) I think for 15 days. Several friends of mine have taken it and they couldn't believe I was on that much. Do you all typically take this much? He told me it would be high dose/agressive treatment. He also gave me Prilosec to protect my stomach and tamazepam to help me sleep if needed. He warned that it might make me sick.
Avatar f tn OK i admit I do have some legitamate paiin, probably enouth to be using 6-8 norco's a day. But the truth is that my current symptoms are barely controlled on them anyway, if at all. My friend doc, told me to go down 1.2 tabs a day a week, but I think that is too slow, I want this monkey off of my back. I am so scared, ashamed, and feel so dark and sad. I can't believe I would put so much into my body and I know better by my career.
Avatar n tn I have had asthma for about 15 years and sometimes have to take prednisone and an antibiotic. I just did come off of those two meds a couple of weeks ago and haven't been able to sleep hardly at all. This has never happened before. I take combivent and flovent 2 times a day and have been doing this for a long time. I don't understand why I can't sleep when nothing has changed for me. I have tried pm meds and also ambien with no luck sleeping.
Avatar m tn I am unable to sleep at night after an intense run...prior to prednisone my runs would have no affect on my sleep and my heart rate didn't concern me. I am guessing the increased heart rate may be due to my body not making it's own cortisone..or enough of it yet? I have been off for 5 days.
Avatar f tn i understand your frustration. I have been on prednisone for about 3months now. Have had mild case of chronic hives for 1.5years but last 3months have been hell. My hives are similar to yours, don't itch but they sting. If you can cover them up and can stand the pain, I say hold off on the prednisone. Take combination of antihistamines...claritin in the morning, benedryl at night, etc. If they itch but you don't mind the way they look, put the cortisone cream stuff.
Avatar m tn For the past month, since sinus surgery and multiple courses of steroids and antibiotics, I have been unable to sleep past 4AM. Not only an I awake, but I am jolted awake and then am completely wired/stressed (think 10 Venti Starbucks) for the rest of the morning. Slight nausea/ No interest in food in the morning. Things usually calm down for the day after lunch.
Avatar m tn She has been feeling hot and she is hungry and not getting good sleep. And she is a person who LOVES to sleep! I find it interesting that she has increased her T4 medication, yet the blood labs which have been rock solid for well over a year suddenly went DOWN. Although her FT3 had a decent bump and is about the highest it has ever been since we've been recording her results.
