Remember doctors will brush off and deny, but if you keep finding people like me and others who took prednisone and having the same exact symptoms, then it proves they are lying and somethings is very wrong with that drug. All of us are NOT crazy, we dont even have a reason to make it up, go figure!
First, I will assume that all other asthma medication has failed and that is why you and your doctor have had to resort to prednisone, 10 mg/day. If that is not the case, then attempts to control your asthma with (first) medium-high doses of an inhaled steroid. Persons exhibit varying degrees of sensitivity to oral doses of prednisone, so that is very possible, maybe even likely, that you will experience the side effects you have listed below.

I was given Prednisone at Urgent Care and i've been gaving a nightmare of s time for a week now. It all started from a simple children's 12 hour alegra. Pollen count was high so I grabbed one with my breakfast bar in car on way to do errands. Mouth got super dry fast and I didnt have water, stopped to get some and felt heart   rate increasing, started feeling tingling in head so pulled into Urgent Care to get checked BP 167/100 and heart rate 120 very high for me.
On the way out I talked to a lady there and I told her I was bipoler and was on prednisone for joint pain. She told me that prednisone can bring on a psychotic phase in normal people and with a pre-existing condition it can be really ugly. Has anyone ever heard of such a thing?

I have suffered from severe nerve pain stemming from my lower spine/siatic nerve and shooting down my right buttocks and leg. I recently came down with shingles and the Prednisone caused adverse effects so doc gave me Klonopin to counter act the prednisone. In this time my nerve pain has been 99% better then it was. While the klonopin does make me a little tired I am still able to function on a normal level only at a slower pace.
I was taking two oxycodone until yesterday. Yesterday I took only one, and an ultram and the 1/2 klonopin. I'm done with these meds and can't beleive that I have been suffering for so many years wondering why! Feel a litttle better today, but still burning pain. Please help.

Klonopin (clonazepam) In a class of medications like Ambien, is the drug Klonopin (clonazepam). "In sleep management, one of the best things we have found is Klonopin," states Charles W. Lapp, M.D. Klonopin can help you get to sleep fast and sleep longer and thus have less fatigue the next day. It also is a muscle relaxant that can help with restless leg syndrome and, as it is closely related to Valium, can relieve anxiety and panic attacks.
Anyone have success using Klonopin for short duration to treat sudden onset of anxiety induced by other medications, i was given anti hystamines and prednisone to block an allergic reaction and had a terrible reaction to the treatment. quit after four days but the anxiety they induced has remained like my chemistry has almost been conditioned from the high bp and hr and anxiousness i had from the treatment.
Hi, I have SLE and was diagnosed in 99 and for the past month I've had numbness and tingling in my arms fingers, feet, legs that mostly bother me at night. Several times I have woke up and cannot move my whole left side. Which is scarey. Almost like I've had a stroke, but then the feeling does come back after a while and I have a heavy feeling sometimes in my arm for a while. Labs: Sed rate is always high,ANA as high as 1:1280.
) The body may also develop a tolerance to the drug such that, much like is possible in addiction, it takes greater and greater amounts to achieve the desired effect. A person on a high dose of prednisone (a steroid) of a length of time will become physiologically dependent on the steroid, and in order for their doctor to safely discontinue the drug from their regimen, it has to be slowly tapered down (even if it was abruptly started at a high dose).
I have an abnormal EEG that shows a migraine or seizure pattern and it started in my 20's and took about 8 years to diagnose. I have throwing up and abdominal pain and no headache and it occurred only when I tried to go to sleep at night. Later after being on Klonopin for a few years I had no more stomach problems or pain but then I got the migraine aura and headaches. Anyway, I also have low back pain, initially caused by dog injuring me and it is chronic myofascial pain syndrome.
Also had an ultra sound that came up negative. She then prescribed prednisone, betablockers and klonopin. A couple weeks later I felt no better if not worse,(sensitivity to hot and cold, weakness, tiredness etc) had another lab drawn showing up with a TSH of 4.85. She changed her mind to a diagnosis of Hashimoto's and put me on 50mcg of synthroid. I'm confused. Can your lab results drop that significantly in Hashimoto's with out the aid of synthroid.

The prednisone sounds like a good idea, I think I'm going to try and find an ENT and skip my GP for now. Also, I've seen some studies online that said a lot of sinus infections were fungal, which is why antibiotics don't help. I know my doctor says this is viral, but if it was viral it wouldn't have lasted 7 months!
I still have muscle twitching, but it isn't severe. I've also stopped taking prednisone because it made me confused and I'm still trying to take off the extra weight it causes. Best of luck with your issues and I sincerely hope that you find relief soon.
I start wheezing and feel resistance. and I'm exhausted and foggy all day long. is that COPD or something?
I have been checked out by Neuro, ENT and GP and NOTHING. I'm wondering if I have TMJ but I don't know. Here are my symptoms... Right ear pain Right ear fullness/ringing Pain behind right eye spot headaches on right side grinding teeth at night stiff neck - going into my shoulders I had an MRI/MRA back in Oct and all it showed was chronic sinusitis which I am being treated for by my ENT however he knows the pain is not coming from my ear. I am worried. Could this be an aneursym?
Hi, I have been on Effexor XR for 3 years and I have gained about 40-50pounds, most when my dose was increased to 225, now I am on 75mg b/c I'm getting ready to wean off the medicine in a couple of weeks, and I haven't lost anything yet. My eating habits have not changed and I exercise. I have always been underweight and I could eat whatever I wanted...I'm only 26 years old...I know my metabolism has changed some, but not enough to pack on 40 pounds.
During this period she was put on prednisone for asthma, Atarax to calm her and now Valium. She is off both the prednisone and the Atarax but still on the valium, which incidently is not helping her at all. She takes a dose at night before going to bed. She is sleeping approx 3 hours per night. She has very, very limited resources as she has no health insurance. Can you offer any suggestions? I am not sure what to do for her.
So I went back to the Psych and again I was switch to another medication - Lexapro and was given Prednisone for the allergies. Bad idea! I had to take the Prednisone for a week and ended up eating anything on sight. The only good thing about it that a week after taking Prednisone w/ Benadryl, my sleep cycle had come back! Yet I had to mess it up all over again when I decided to Lexapro. The first day I tried Lexapro, I ended up suffering from insomnia. So I am basically back to square one!
Never-the-less, I am hoping for some help. He did put me on a very low dose of klonopin and it has TREMENDOUSLY helped the twitches and jerks in my legs. WOW! Keep me posted on how you are doing.
Around two days after ending my treatment same thing, really bad muscle and joint pain. I went to my primary doc and he said some sort of withdrawal or inflammation which he tested for and came back fine. Same thing with the gastro doctor, really didn't care to hear about it. Any weight gain during treatment? I've seen a couple of posts where people have gained 5 pounds and had the munchies. What seems to help the most is diet, exercise, drinking lots of water and keeping regular.
The doctor finally prescribed ativan .5 mg during the day and .5 mg klonopin at night. After I realized I wasn't really dieing, I got my life back under control. After 8 years I weaned myself off the ativan but stayed on the Klonopin at night. Last December 09, I had some real bad family issues, put my 13 year old dog own, feared losing my job and my husband a heavy smoker got a terrible cold and coughed all night long, this went on for months. I thought I was handling things really well.
Everyone's body responds and recovers differently. I did an accelerated taper, and the first week wasn't so bad. I got brutal withdrawals on day 8, and they lasted another 2 weeks until day 21. But on that 22nd day I felt remarkably better, having had my worst pain just the day before. Don't despair, your body is fighting to recovery what it lost. You will make it!
It's when I force the air out I get a whistling noise and prednisone and singulair and dulera or combivent don't cure it. My peak flow seems ok prednisone and klonopin does help my sleep apnea it seems but I don't know what else I could take? Thanks very much!
He immediately gave me a 10 day prednisone(steroid) course starting with 50mg on day one and two, 40mg day three and four,30,20,10. I had a horrible reaction to the prednisone and 3 days after stopping the full dose I was a wreck. It has been six weeks since stopping the medication and I still have an internal shaking that runs low and high. I have swings of heavy shaking.During this time I feel the crap. My head hurts, I feel like passing out, etc. Over the past week I have been cold.
I started taking klonopin and I could sleep better but I'm still exhausted and foggy even on cpap and wheeze on exhale after I got the flu. I tried exercising, theophylline, prednisone, dulera, singulair, zyfil and saw 15 doctors. Is there a cure or medicine for my sleep breathing disorder? I'm not that overweight at 190 pounds but would UPPP, tongue coblation, tonsilectomy and septum surgery help me? I'm very happy to do the surgery soon Thanks so much!!
