Avatar n tn Examples are hepatitis, hyperthyroidism, lymphomas, collagen vascular diseases, and cancers of the rectum, kidneys and gastrointestinal tract. Chronic infections such as chronic sinusitis can be associated with urticaria. I feel that you should find out the cause of your chronic urticaria by ruling out the various conditions causing it.Also if these air borne allergens are the cause of urticaria in your case, then pls try avoiding them. I hope that helps. Please do keep me posted.
Avatar n tn I was placed on 50mg of Imuran, which was adjusted to 100mg and my Prednisone was gradually reduced 10mg. In September 2010 my Prednisone was being reduced by 2.5 every 6 weeks. When I got down to 5mg, I noticed achiness about 4 days after reducing the dosage. I then was lowered to 2.5mg, this time all my joints began to hurt, muscles felt a little weak and some fatigue returned. I will consult with my hepatologist this week.
9214378 tn?1408881584 m thinking there may have been several things going on there, including the possibility of diabetes (seizures are not uncommon in seriously ill diabetic dogs). Diabetes can also affect both the liver and more so the kidneys over a period of time and when maybe the symptoms haven't been obvious, therefore appropriate treatment isn't given early enough. The reverse can also be the case ... that is, the kidneys may have been affected first, which then caused the glucose levels to rise.
Avatar n tn my fiance is on prednisone and has been for 6 years. she had an ultrasound done today and it shows she has eight spots on her liver. she has been having problems with her gallbladder, kidneys, overies and bladder. she also gets infection after infection which has also started to show on her skin.her blood tests would not show anything do to the fact prednisone masks the infections. im really worried about her . what should we do doc?
Avatar n tn when I receieved lady she seemed ok, and now, I looked in her mouth and her bottom back teeth are gone, my husband says that its because of her old age and that it might be time to put her down, I would really appriciate any advice. I want to go to a vet, but we cant afford the vets that are in the area, i called and they all charge a office visit of 65 dollars or more, thats not including any medication. Please help!!
Avatar m tn My luck hasnt been so good this year starting in Jan with being told I have diabetes and my kidneys are releasing to much protein in my urine. I was wondering if anyone can answer this question for me about prednisone. My doctor put me on this for some issues I was having with my butt cheek and leg hurting all the way to my ankle. I think its my schiatic nerve, she gave me 40mg of prednisone a day for 3 days then cut it down to 20 mg a day for 4 days to wean me off it.
Avatar f tn 05 when Katrina [hurricane] hit. I had it in my left eye and later found out it was in both of my kidneys, making the kidneys only half-work. After a good year or so of being on corticosteroid drops and prednisone, it finally subsided. Now I have been told it's just kinda there, doing nothing right now. I never had any skin conditions or had it in my lungs, which seems to be the most common. Could everyone give their age too if you don't mind? And where they have it?
Avatar m tn Hi Shay933, I'm sorry to hear about your mom being admitted to the hospital (and the swelling as the result of swollen lymph nodes). I think I'm a little confused about the situation. You mentioned in your first post that she has CLL so I'm just wondering why they are doing a biopsy if they already know what she has? Did you mean that she had CLL in the past and is now possibly relapsing?
Avatar f tn , now they have added Keppra to his phenobarbital and after a visit with an animal neurologist, who believes my dog has a tumor based on some exercises he put him through, and added prednisone to the mix, I feel all of this is excessive and unsafe for my dog but he's never had any medical conditions before so I don't know what is 'normal' in doggie meds - are pheno-barbital, Keppra and Prednisone commonly prescribed together for seizures?
Avatar f tn I had chipmunk cheeks as my skin was very puffy due to all the sodium I was given. I was also put on prednisone to help with my energy level. I am off of it now. I have found potassium to be helpful. Can potassium get the myasthenia gravis into remission? I am also hyperthyroid. This discussion is related to Ambrotose--a natural, effective treatment with no side effects.
Avatar f tn ve already had unless something came up) because the anatomy sono showed my baby girl enlarged kidneys and pelvic area. Have any of you heard this before, and did it clear up or require medication or surgery for baby? He also told me my platelets were low, if they stayed that way I couldn't have an epidural. Again, have any of you experienced that? Thanks!
Avatar f tn Treatment for Churg-Strauss syndrome includes glucocorticoids such as prednisone and other immunosupressive drugs such as azathioprine and cyclophosphamide. In many cases the disease can be put into a type of chemical remission through drug therapy, but the disease is chronic and life long.
1464587 tn?1307491605 I had kidney failure (BP was 200/100 when I went into the emergency room and kidneys were about 25% functional) and through meds (prednisone, Cell Cept, Simvastatin and Lozartan) I have re-cooperated back (creatnine to proteine ration is about >1. I've been working out for about 2 years now with a constant intake of protein. My blood work results have all turned out great and I've mantained healthy.
Avatar n tn I recently had an ESR checked by my hematologist because it was elevated 3 years ago during a hospitalization for minimal change kidney disease and pulmonary embolism. At the time of the hospitalization it was 112. This past test came back at 28. 2 weeks later I saw my primary physician and he rechecked the ESR and also checked my CRP. The ESR had increased to 34 in 2 weeks and the CRP was elevated at 1.2. I'm not sure if I should be worried about this.
1207048 tn?1282174304 When I saw my neuro the other day he mentioned something about rebound symptoms when I'm off the prednisone taper. I did the first round of IV steroids/prednisone for vertigo and it did not come back after (though I will get a bit if I'm overtired, just for a minute or two then it stops). This round of steroids is because of burning/stinging in my feet which moved up my right leg, causing tingling and sometimes electric shock feelings. After the 3 days of IV this was pretty much gone.
Avatar f tn I was on prednisone for about 6 months and am still on Imuran for my GM and my constipation has gotten to the point that I am now on prescription meds for it. I was hoping that it might be caused by a thyroid issue, but just got news that thyroid is absolutely fine. So I am thinking that it has to do with the meds. It has been a big pain, literally, but I'm finally getting things running smoothly if you know what I mean ;). Good luck.
Avatar m tn I have it extremely bad as you d. I am prone to about four lung infections a year and only prednisone helps. I too was in the hospital unable to breathe properly and was givn prednisone overnight. They almost had a fit when they discovered that i had a double heart beat every fourt or fifth beat. Suddenly it was EKG scan, the works. Then, as is usual with me, when I relax quietly my heartbeat drops to about fifty or less.
Avatar f tn My dad had CHF and has been in the hospital for about a week now and they have been doing a lot of blood work and I have some of the result but haven't been able to pin the DR. down for a few minutes, I never seem to get there at the right time, hopefully someone here can help me. He has had CHF for about 10 years and the last 4 have been really bad , getting worse with time. He was admitted as 4+ edemiatic, CHF and Kidney issues.
Avatar f tn 3 months ago he started having some kidney pain and went to his general doctor and they checked his kidneys and all function was normal. About a month later he developed some muscle fatigue with mild pain that accompanied the kidney pain. He went to an internist and they did blood work and an ultrasound on his kidneys. The ultrasound came back negative, as in normal and all his blood work was normal except for an elevated CK of about 750 (normal is under 200).
Avatar f tn Hi there, My first thought is that it's the sciatic nerve being pinched or irritated in some way. Before I had my hips replaced I had pain that would start in my, um, rear end, shoot down the back of my thigh, SKIP my knee area and continue down the back of my calf. After the hip surgery the sciatic pain disappeared. My guess is that the hip pain was altering the way I walked, sat, stood, etc, which can easily lead to pain elsewhere in the body.
428506 tn?1296557399 I have been on prednisone and methotrexate in the past, which both having side effects of weight gain. The other yucky side effects is insomnia and feeling hungry. The hunger pangs will come eventually, but if you are careful with your diet, and it sounds like you are going to be diligent on this front, then don't worry about the weight as it will come off after you discontinue the drugs. The weight does not drop off over night, but it will come down.
Avatar m tn 4 months ago I began a therapy with prednisone (25 mg per day) and one month lather I got tested for hiv 1-2, the result hopefully was negative and all my blood exams were normal (but antibodies against HBV positive, without virus). My doctors said me that hiv is not a problem for me. However i began to worry again because it was been told me that prednisone is an immunosupressant and I fear that it could hide my hiv antibodies. What do you think about? Sould I have to get another test?
Avatar m tn Theres no fever but lots of coughing still on prednisone and using neb treatments. makes me think its the CHF and he wont get better because his heart was really damaged more than they think. Hes been diagnosed with CHF for about 7 years and diabetic for 15.
