312330 tn?1245176752 m on high daily doses of prednisone. I also suffer from terrible insomnia...granted I had insomnia before I was ever diagnosed with the CSS. I know that prednisone can cause sleep issues, and I really need to get some sleep. I also have ADHD. I've tried trazadone with mixed results. I currently take Prednisone, Qvar, Foradil, Zantac and Adderall. I would prefer not to add another pill to the mix if I can help it, the less med interactions I chance the better....any suggestions?
Avatar f tn I'm currently on prednisone and antibiotic for a horrible case of bronchitis and a severe asthma attack. I've been on prednisone many times in my life due to my asthma, as well as my lupus. This current time, I was given an 80mg shot of Kenalog at Urgent Care the first day I went when I had gotten so sick.
Avatar m tn shakiness, vision issues, muscle spasming, weakness/tingling/numbness in left arm from shoulder down). I was put on a 12 day prednisone regimen and have been off of the drug for 6 days. While on the pred, I experienced insomnia, and slightly increased blood pressure, but my heart rate was around 60 and didn't change. since the 2nd day after weaning off of prednisone, my symptoms have returned (ms), but my heart rate has gone from 60 bpm to 80 bpm, and my BP has gone from 116/60 to 130/80.
Avatar m tn I took one 20mg of prednisone and I consulted my doctor bc I was having problems sleeping and the meds making me urinate every 30 minutes she told me to stop was wondering after I stop will I get a rash? She gave me a total of 5 pills one pill per day but I took one and explained to her my symptoms. Please help Im worried?
Avatar n tn If you are taking steroids (ie prednisone) for some of those conditions, it can cause or contribute to the high cholesterol, insomnia, and high blood pressure. It can also contribute to the fatigue. Your disease and the prednisone as well as other medications can lower your immune system.
Avatar n tn I believe that taking shots of methylprednisone and a decreasing solumedrol pack of prednisone launched me into a permanent state of insomnia. As a result I suffered with aches in my joints, muscle burning, brain fog and eventually chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia. Its a *****. I take five drugs to sleep through the night. i am doing a lot of research to reverse the effects.
Avatar m tn I was prescribed prednisone for Bells Palsy. I have developed symptoms that include shortness of breath, and a feeling in my lungs like I inhaled chlorine. I am in otherwise good shape. My heart is strong and i have no cardiopulmonary history. I also feel very weak and I can't do any real physical activity, including going up a flight of stairs without becoming winded and my pulse racing (120+bpm).

446896 tn?1237802742 This is my first time taking Prednisone and I have had a TERRIBLE experience on this drug! I usually have anxiety, but the last 14 days I have had unbelievable restlessness, panic, insomnia, severe heart palpitations/tachycardia, face swelling, etc. I have spoken to my nurse and two pharmacists who say that these are indeed side effects of prednisone, and that they should get better once I stop the medication.
Avatar f tn My 4-pound chi was put on 4 mg/day of prednisone by his neurologist and it's making him a wreck. He's definitely hungry which is ok, but also lethargic, shaking, has insomnia (I swear the dog hasn't slept in 5 days), panting, lying in a funny position with head stretched out in front of him.
Avatar f tn Does anyone have a diagnosis of "undifferentiated arthritis" with symptoms of finger, hand, and wrist arthritis? If so, what is your treatment therapy? I was originally diagnosed with SLE in sept 2010 with main symptom of arthritis but prior skin, photosensitivity, and mouth ulcers, plus ANA of 1:640. At that time my rheumy was thinking i had RA but i had no bloodwork indicating RA, so he thought i had SLE instead.
1548207 tn?1303454180 I saw the rhuematologist yesterday and we are doings a combo of prednisone and methotrexate for three months then transition to methotrexate alone is the tentative plan. I'm not thrilled about the possibility of weight gain since I have lost 17 lbs since January but am overall hopeful that this will calm the disease down some. I'm in near constant pain lately so ill try what I can to get better. Thanks as always for the support ladies. How are you ladies doing currently?
Avatar n tn t see a flare up of insomnia or anxiety (both I suffer from) and here I am... Up 24 hours now, feeling slightly better but all too jittery to sit still for long long let alone lay, get comfortable etc. I would recommend that those with conditions such as bipolar disorder, anxiety disorders, and insomnia STRONGLY weigh how bad they feel with how bad they would feel on no sleep and more anxious or a manic episode.
Avatar n tn After one round of it I still was having trouble and ended up in the hospital again being unable to breath, even with taking albuterol nebulizer treatments 4x a day. The hospital put me on prednisone 60mg for a week, and my primary doctor had initially planned for me to be on 60mg 3 days, then taper down by 10mg every 3 days until being done, as well as another round of levofloxacin.
Avatar f tn I took one 50 mg dose of prednisone this morning and am laying awake at 2 am. This is after using breathing techniques that normally have me sleeping in 20 minutes. I'm supposed to take it for 5 days--but I 'm going to stop. I don't know if it's made the tinnitus worse or if I'm just more aware of it since I'm awake in a quiet room!
Avatar n tn She was admitted with pnemonia yesterday (maybe that triggered her asthma and insomnia) however, she has not been the same since her TT and para removal. I thought the meds were her problem. So hard to diagnose her real problem when so many meds are involved. Her TSH was a bit high as her blood pressure was skyrocketing also.
Avatar f tn I want to get off them but I am scared because I find it hard to sleep naturally and I will get insomnia again, which I suffer from due to other medication (Prednisone 50mg) I know it is bad for my liver and so un-healthy for my Crohns Disease. But I take them because I actually really need them to sleep. I want to stop taking them but I am afraid of the withdrawals and not being able to sleep which I need for my mental health. Has anyone else been addicted to Mersyndol?
Avatar f tn The most common adverse events in both treatment arms were fatigue, headache, nausea and insomnia. Two patients discontinued treatment due to adverse events. In genotype 1a patients with the Q80K polymorphism at baseline, 89 percent and 83 percent achieved SVR12 after 12 weeks of treatment with and without ribavirin, respectively. Rapid virologic response (RVR, defined as undetectable HCV RNA at Week 4 of treatment) was not found to be predictive of achieving SVR.
Avatar f tn I had a similar experience taking prednisone-becoming so depressed and fearful. This experience with singulair mimics that of the prednisone issues. As of tonight, I have stopped taking singulair and plan to follow up with my PCP this week. I have only been on it for 2-3 weeks and I have had enough of this feeling. I want my life back.
Avatar f tn It is a steroid, a polypeptide, and it suppresses inflammation and the immune system rapidly and effectively. In the case of a severe asthmatic attack it may save your life. Because taken orally it has systemic effects, the trend is to administer it in small doses through an inhaler. It affects blood sugar, adrenal function and a host of other body operations. It is a signaling substance. You are unlikely to experience any bad effects on the protocol your physician set up for you.
776872 tn?1247938680 I think that worrying about weight and acne is the least of your future worries. Prednisone over a long period of time is not good for your bones. Our daughter was diagnosed with Crohn's at 12 (January 2008) and she's still not in remission and has gotten worse, started with prednisone 5 mg x 8 tablets per day (40 mgs) she too went down to 5 mg but then it flared up again, then went on Pentasa (which made her almost psychotic so we took her off quickly....
Avatar m tn 4 months ago I began a therapy with prednisone (25 mg per day) and one month lather I got tested for hiv 1-2, the result hopefully was negative and all my blood exams were normal (but antibodies against HBV positive, without virus). My doctors said me that hiv is not a problem for me. However i began to worry again because it was been told me that prednisone is an immunosupressant and I fear that it could hide my hiv antibodies. What do you think about? Sould I have to get another test?
