ve been off the prednisone for 11 weeks and my diarrhea and vomiting are back. I have seen 7 dr,s ( I don't capitilize dr's, because the 7 I've seen are'nt worthy of that respect!) Can anyone help me? I would sure appriciate any input. Thank you in advance and I hope good health for you!!
Ok so I went off of iv steroids and now have 2 weeks of prednisone to take and this is my 2nd day. I feel a crawling sensation on left side of face. I feel like the tip of my tongue in tingly, I am seeing stars every now and then and some stomach pain. Just need reassurance this is normal? I thought I was supposed to have energy but it 5pm and I'm tired. I dont like this feeling.
We kenneled her for a week. They fed her their food. The following day after we picked her up she had diarrhea and some vomit. 3 days later there was no improvement but she wasn't any worse. Brought her to vet. They detected bacteria in stool and she had a low platelet count (104). They sent us home with a couple of antibiotics and prednisone. Next day she ate finally (prescription I/D). Next day she had almost a normal bowel movement. But then acted strange, wanted to hide in closets.

I was just put on a PREDNISONE 8 day taper and suddenly had excessive and extremely pungent burps and gas, no diarrhea. I'm retired now and have had occasional bouts with frequent burps and farts, but not smelly and not this much. I do suspect that I may suffer with occasional gastroparesis nerve damage due to Diabetes type 2 that slows emptying the stomach. I have rarely vomited undigested food from days prior.
Hi Willa - The prednisone and "other drugs" have different jobs. Prednisone treats current inflammation. It is often current inflammation that causes symptoms. In your case it may be that your lack of coordination is the result of inflammation. The prednisone reduces the inflammation and you feel more coordinated. Prednisone will not help with the underlying cause of the inflammation.
Put her on Prednisone one week ago, along with antacids, and other meds to stop the diarrhea. She got very lethargic and lost her appetite. Took her back for one week checkup and vet explained large breed dogs some times react negatively to Prednisone by getting lethargic and haivng muscle atrophy. Cut her Prednisone in half and wanted to start her on Chlorambucil 2mg. I looked up that drug when I got home and learned it's used to treat cancer - and needs to be handled with gloves.
I took some benadryl and the sore throat/ drip went away. Later in the morning I started experiencing diarrhea. Nothing horrible, but it made me decide to go to urgent care. They said it was an allergic reaction and prescribed an epipen. I declined because I have no insurance.
Since then I've seen another doctor who thinks its hsv 1. However I have not had any of the other symptoms of hsv. I've not had blistering, swollen glands, flu like symptoms. Any of that.
I consider myself in very good health and condition. I exercise 6-7 times per week and eat a fairly consistent and clean diet. For the past two and a half weeks, I have been plagued with a red, scaly, dry, splotchy rash on my forehead and below my eyes on either side of my nose. It is also on my arms, legs, stomach and back in the form of circular, dry, scaly, raised lesions. There are also 2 linear skin lesions on my right tricep/lattisimus dorsi that appear red, raised, scaly.
Only Prednisone and Pacrea supplements have helped, without the Prednisone, he has constant diarrhea, gastritis, and no appetite. Just this week, the EPI started with a vengeance. The vet did some tests, and he now is in kidney failure. The problem is... if we treat the EPI, it adversely affects the kidney disease, if we treat the kidney disease, (take away the prednisone) the EPI is symptomatic again. The vet said he has lost about 70% kidney function at this point.
But no matter what they come up with, it ALWAYS starts with the eating, sleeping and vomiting (in that order). This began when he was taking prednisone and a TNF, most recently Humira. But when he started having so many infections the doctor stopped the TNF, but continued the prednisone, 30-40 mg. /day. Eventually the prednisone was stopped too, and for the three months he was prednisoe-free, he didn't have even one episode.
If there is some sort of inflammation in the rectum or colon, then antibiotics, maybe prednisone and a change in diet can help your kitty feel better.

I've had high ANA (1:1280) and ASMA/Actin Antibody titers (57), plus rheumatoid factor since 2005, when I developed an itchy post-partum rash over 60% of my body. It disappeared after weaning at one year. I never followed up after the rash cleared, went on to have a normal pregnancy 2 years later, and I'm now 2 years post-partum. I recently had 3 months of chronic diarrhea and digestive upset (I have a 10-yr history of mild IBS-D and lactose intolerance), and got a full battery of tests.
She had the D/D prescription cans to give her and none of it has helped so far. It has been 4 days and a lot of different meds and she still has diarrhea and she is so out of it and unhappy. She looks like she is in so much pain now and I don't know what else to do.
She has had blood tests - her organs are fine. Feces testing - no parasites. And none of the vets felt any obstruction in her gut. Just a swollen bowel.
I am stumped - anyone have any idea what is going on with my girl.
I was diagnosed with severe ulcerative colitis in 2004, and when my anemia did not clear up after 6 months of prednisone and other meds, another colonoscopy was performed and the colitis was completely cleared up, revealing a tumor in the hepatic flexure of the colon. This turned out to be stage 3C colon cancer. While Hurricane Katrina was pummelling New Orleans, I had a partial colectome and underwent 6 months of FOLFOX 6 chemo, concurrent with 12 months of Avastin as part of a study.
I have had UC for 20+ years and have managed the disease with diet and exercise (8 times on prednisone and tpn once). Basically symptom free except very loose stools once per day. All this being said I just started noticing skipped heart beats. I called up my Cardiologist buddy and he said it sounds like PVC. PVS's have a link to potassium/magnesium/calcium imbalances.
