My husband has suffered with cluster headaches for 12 years, he was prescribed Prednisolone in a high dose then reducing, the headaches would stop. He did this for a few years, but unfortunately he started to have chronic cluster headache for about a year, he tried & tried the prednisolone but this did not work.

I think it's important I add that if your dog is receiving prednisolone as a matter of some urgency - such as certain life-threatening illnesses - then vaccination (annual boosters, etc) would not normally be given. Prednisolone suppresses the bone-marrow from producing white blood cells, which means there could be a severe and potentially fatal reaction to annual booster vaccines.

She is at a private hospital in India. The blockage is inaccessible and it is almost long block like 7 cm. The doctors said the success rate is low. As she has collaterals, it is better not to risk for surgery.

I have experienced horrific withdrawals and now have been given zanax for treating the extreme anxiety. It is 3 weeks since I took thelast prednisolone tablet, I am angry I was not advised to taper down the dosage and I am wondering how long I will be going through this awful period of withdrawal. Shaking all the time and unable to work...my Doctor only advised going on zanax...anyone else going through the same...I need some encouragement. Thanks!

I'm going to check out Chewy for the Dasuquin, and will call the vet tomorrow about prednisolone. Our other cat was on it for years for IBD, I can't see why it couldn't be tried for this one, even if it was just for a short while.

The difference between prednisone and prednisolone is that one is the precursor to the other. Prednisone is activated by enzymes in the liver to turn into prednisolone. They do have similar uses but prednisolone is more readily absorbed by the body. Prednisolone is usually used when there is liver toxicity or liver failure involved. I've been told to go on prednisolone for 3 months or so in order to bring down my slightly elevated liver enzymes. I am worried that the prednisolone might react with the oroxine therapy which I am taking daily for my Hashimotos hypothyroidism. The amount of prednisolone is 25mg per day for 1 week, then 10 mg per day for 2 weeks, then 7.5mg per day for 4 weeks, then 5 mg per day until i see the doctor in 3 months time.

Other then that, they left it alone. I was prescribed an antibiotic orally before they knew what it was, but I didn't give it to him as the rash began to quickly clear. I keep the meds refrigerated due to the fact that we are 4% below the equator. Your point on the prednisolone may explain why it is taking longer to heal this time than the three times before. I put an order in for prednisolone but it has to come up from Australia...hopefully I can get my hands on it soon.
