On the few occasions that this happens the Doc prescribes a short 30mg 6 tablets a day course of Prednisolone tablets which usually clears up my Asthma symptoms.
My concern is the side effects that are related to Prednisolone tablets i.e. thinning of the bonnes, what I would like to know is would it be a good idea to take calcium tablets on a regular basis or just when I’m on the Prednisolone or are they worth taking at all?
Any advice would be most appreciated.
This did not work either, so the ivomec was increased to 2ml and a treatment of 5mg prednisolone was given for one week along with a treatment of 1 biotin daily. At first this seemed to help but after she came off of the prednisolone she started to lose hair again and the flakes started again. My vet then advised me to give her a constant dose of the prednisolone i.e 1 tablet every other day. This did not work.The yellow flakes are now all over her body and she scratches all night.
Dogs don't do well on long term steroid treatment. Are you sure it's prednisone/prednisolone that he's taking? What is he taking the steroid for? Did he have seizures BEFORE starting the corticosteroid? How long has he been taking the corticosteroid? These are all important questions before an answer can be attempted.
I am worried that the prednisolone might react with the oroxine therapy which I am taking daily for my Hashimotos hypothyroidism. The amount of prednisolone is 25mg per day for 1 week, then 10 mg per day for 2 weeks, then 7.5mg per day for 4 weeks, then 5 mg per day until i see the doctor in 3 months time. The liver doctor has also put me on ursodeoxycholic acid tablets 1 tablet two times a day.
He went to the vet for an ear infection and was prescribed prednisolone 20mg. When he got home he started to become dizzy, yelping and unable to walk properly. He's holding his head up and refuses to lye down. It looks like he's in a lot of pain. Does this sound familiar to anybody?
I recently had one of my dogs treated for a disc problem in her neck. She was given a decreasing dose of Prednisone to take over 10 days which helped her considerably. Now, my other dog (same size and age) is showing symptoms of the same condition. I want to try the Pred on him but I don't have any left. Instead, I have a large bottle of Prednisolone. If I gave Ruby 40 mg's of PredNISONE, would I now give 40mg of PredNISOLONE? Or would the dose be different?

I am newly DX with chrons two weeks ago and have been placed onto Prednisolone 50 mg a day. I was wondering how these drugs worked for other people? Other than the fact that they hav brought my D under control, I am still having really bad stomach pains. How quick did you guys get results with these drugs? Was it long term effects bad on you?
I was told that they should work straight away, but no such luck! Since starting them, I have had UTI AND A KIDNEY INFECTION.
My eye doctor sent me to a cornea specialist and after an exam he asked me to keep taking the acyclovir tablets (1 pill - 3x a day) and prescribed Pred Forte eye drops (Prednisolone Acetate 1%) 4x a day. Reading about this stereoid, I saw that it is not to be used on infections caused by virus (eg. Herpes). What should I do????? Thank you.
My age is 34 and due to a small swelling in my feet and below wrist and some rashes in my body i was given three to four different types of medication and one of them was prednisolone . I was told to take 25 mg each day . This Tablet I am taking from past five months. Now if i stop taking this tablets my body starts to swell so i have to keep on taking this tablets i don't know for how long.The doctors are still insisting that I carry on with this tablets.
I'm going to check out Chewy for the Dasuquin, and will call the vet tomorrow about prednisolone. Our other cat was on it for years for IBD, I can't see why it couldn't be tried for this one, even if it was just for a short while.
My father is having the honavan tablets because his psa level was diagnosed as having gone up from 22 to 33. But instead of three tablets of 120 mg he is having only one of 120 mg at night as his body weight is only 41 kgs and he cant tolerate more. But he is feeling a kind of suffiocation in chest and breathlessness. He is also feeling low and tierd. He is 86 and till now has been a very active man. Please advise. He did not feel any effect of high psa- it was shown in a regular check up.
If I get an acute relapse, I need to take 500mg per day for 5 days. This means that I will have to take approximately 31 tablets per day for 5 days (then taper down). My neudo says that taking these amount of tablets is OK, but how would you recommend that I take them?
a) all together at once?
b) in batches throughout the day?
c) what time of day is best to take them?
Alhough my neuro has suggested to take them in the morning over 2-3 hours, I wanted to know hat you all think about this.
It is for the above reasons I strongly suggest you contact your vet, explain that you have started using the prednisolone you had left over from last year and ask about a new part-prescription, so you can taper off properly and slowly. The amount of tablets you have left are insufficient for safe withdrawal, so you will need a few more from the vet.
About 4 weeks ago I got a red itchy rash on my chest. The skin is red with what looks like ives or small bumps. I have used Eurax cream and Bach Rescue cream and Zertec. My doctor prescribed steroids "prednisolone 5MG which I have been on for 6 days now with no improvement. I have attached a photo of the affected area in my profile .
DOGS CANNOT TAKE DECONGESTANTS!!!! They cannot metabolize them. If your dogs ears are that bad they are in need of antibiotic and antifungals. You can ask your vet to prescribe an antibiotic like cephalexin and an antifungal like fluconazole both which can be called into a walmart in your area and they are on the $4 generic list so it keeps cost down. As for itching they can have antihistamines WITHOUT DECONGESTANTS in them.
He started her on a regiment of Prednisolone and Stomorgyl 20 once a day, 12 hrs apart for 7 days. Three days after the initial visit, we took her back for blood work before a cleaning. The red and white blood cells were within normal range but the hemoglobin was higher than it should be. (I think he said it was at 800) Afterwards, we left her there and he pulled 4 teeth and cleaned the others and we picked her up that evening.
I just remembered another thing that also makes me wonder about adrenal issues's. I was put on prednisolone 25mg tablet for a serious asthma attack(1 of 2 I had with in 3mth's and the only 2 I have had in my life). While taking the tablets I started feeling normal again, and it also took another 3 mth before the effect wore off completly even thoe I only took them for 5 day's. At the time I did not know I was also dealing with tachycardia.
