My GP then prescribed Predsol (Prednisolone Sodium Phosphate) drops - one drop three times daily for five days. The list of side effects looks quite scary and so far I havn't used them. im now down to 30mgs have been on them almost every few months on and off but this time the HIGH is is horrible,not that it was good before.the only thing is that i have no pain and a lot of energy.I am doing doing things that i dont remember and thats not real good either.

The prescription was a 10 day course and I was not informed of the side effects that I was to suffer. Because of my harried state at the clinic I neglected to ask what those side effects might be. I would know soon enough. I immediately started bloating and gaining weight. My appetite became insatiable. My moods became erratic, I became irritable, and depression set in. From what I've read online I was most likely given a generic form of Prednisolone. It has been awful.

Don't be upset with yourself....We PAY, medically trained Vets to make these decisions for us...It's not your fault.....I got to thinking: Because maintaince doses are done every other day; that leads me to believe that it must stay in their system for up to 48hrs. Vosoghi will comment further as to side effects. I believe prednisolone has a tendency to increase the intraocular pressure with continuous use, but it usually is not an issue if used for a short period (i.e., 2-3 weeks or so).

Why are you on steroid eye drops? They have lots of potential side effects if used chronically.

My German Shepherd was recently prescribed incurin and it has caused her not to eat and a little bit aggressive and scared... She also was running around with her hackles up and starting fights with my other dogs...She only had 3 or 4 days of it and then I took her off of it this last Sunday was her last dose...She still is not wanting to eat and not 100% back to herself? How long do the side effects last...It was taking me an hour and a half to get her to eat 2 cups of food...

I refused to take methotrexate because I cannot accept the possible side effects. I am also refusing more prednisolone because of side effects and because it does not work completely. My doctor is trying me on doxycycline just in case this is caused by a corynebacterium. I am seriously considering mastectomy.

The possible side effects scare me. Can I gradually taper off the frequency of these steroids as long as the eye stays clear and comfortable? I saw some recommendations on-line for lowering frequency in 2nd week to 3x per day and 2x per day in 3rd week.

there are people that use the drug for years for RA (rheumatoid arthritis) and there were trials that looked into the side effects of long term administration of low dose corticoid treatment namely Prednisone and Prednisolone, the side effects were minimal.

commenced on 50 mg and at present weaning off slowly like 5mg every week. i got almost all of the side effects of this drug including cushing syndrome. the rashes on forehead,both sides of face and under chin including neck is one of the symptomes . i got it 3 weeks back but reduced a little at present.didn't wanted to go to G.P as they won't have any answer for these side effects.

The increased drinking is a marker for prednisolone, as it is a common side effect, however kidney disease can also cause this (as many of us know). With prolonged use, prednisolone can cause both Cushings and/or Diabetes, so it should not be prescribed over a long period. I am very concerned your vet stopped the prednisone suddenly, as this could have caused the dog to become seriously and potentially fatally ill. Prednisilone should never be stopped abruptly.

So i was diagnosed yesterday with crohns disease in the small intestine, they have put me onto prednisolone tablets.The tablets are 5mg each but i have to take 30mg a day. I usually have anxiety, but the last 14 days I have had unbelievable restlessness, panic, insomnia, severe heart palpitations/tachycardia, face swelling, etc. I have spoken to my nurse and two pharmacists who say that these are indeed side effects of prednisone, and that they should get better once I stop the medication. There is an emergency place a couple of miles away; which I will take her to if she gets worse, but she has greatly improved in the last 12 hours or so. She can now get up on her own most of the time and seems more alert.
