7002065 tn?1443073614 m a little depressive from the Prednisolone but this temporarly i guess and improves with reducing dose. Most important is, to stay on as less Prednisolone as possible. The adrenal glands produce about 25mg cortisol per day which equals 5mg Pred. < 5mg / day Pred. is a safe and effective immunosuppressant and i will stay on it as long as i have to! all the best to anyone out here.
Avatar f tn Before giving these meds, I would call your vet and make sure this other dog doesn't have any contraindications to steroids. Steroids are not benign in many situations and other health conditions...I can't give info on giving meds to animal that it is not prescribed for so, your vet may be able to give the advice if he/she has seen the other dog. Does your other dog have any health conditions that you know of? How old is it?
Avatar f tn Needless to say we have to educate ourself before administering. 2mg prednisolone is not a physiologic dose per day so it more than likely hasn't caused Adrenal Insufficiency. Sounds more like a continuation of the underlying cause. Just my opinion though.
Avatar n tn I would see a different doctor soon or, at least get a second opinion. Not knowing what dose you were on and just assuming you were started on prednisolone either Iv or pill form in the hospital until the time it was discontinued without taper, I would put my worry out of my misery by seeing another doctor. Especially, since you described "horrible withdrawal symptoms" (again, not knowing what they are) besides the anxiety you are experiencing, which is also concerning.
Avatar n tn Corticosteroids like prednisolone are to be slowly tapered in dose and then weaned off.On sudden stoppage, there can be many side effects.I sincerely advise you to consult your doctor who has prescribed you prednisolone and then decrease the dose as advised by him.Pls do not do so on your own. Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing.
665797 tn?1225283365 My husband has suffered with cluster headaches for 12 years, he was prescribed Prednisolone in a high dose then reducing, the headaches would stop. He did this for a few years, but unfortunately he started to have chronic cluster headache for about a year, he tried & tried the prednisolone but this did not work.
549511 tn?1271775930 yes that is fairly common side effects of that medicine, especially if you are on a high dose? what mg are you on? Ive been on prednisone many times too for both asthma and my back. It does help practically anything wrong in your body for sure (my perpetually stuffy/swollen inner nose is finally opened up when Im on it!) but yes it has side effects- particulary the mood swing thing.
Avatar m tn So i have taken omnacortil10mg(Prednisolone) and Gabaneuron for the past 45 days only in the night due to some neuropathy problems. I have taken 2 hiv antibody tests after 8th and 12th week. Both are came back negative. I have read that the above mentioned steroids can delay the seroconversion period. So my questions are 1)Is these steroids affect my 12 week HIV test? 2)Do i need further testing?
Avatar m tn My vet then advised me to give her a constant dose of the prednisolone i.e 1 tablet every other day. This did not work. The yellow flakes are now all over her body and she scratches all night. She also has problems shaking her head because the ear seems to be paining her. The vet did treat her for the ear but as soon as I stop the treatment as he suggested, she got sick again only worst than the last occurrence.
Avatar m tn The pharmacist instructed me to take them all at once, because that was my dose and it was not supposed to be divided in the day or the dose would not be as strong as it was supposed to be. I would ask the pharmacist.
Avatar n tn On the few occasions that this happens the Doc prescribes a short 30mg 6 tablets a day course of Prednisolone tablets which usually clears up my Asthma symptoms. My concern is the side effects that are related to Prednisolone tablets i.e. thinning of the bonnes, what I would like to know is would it be a good idea to take calcium tablets on a regular basis or just when I’m on the Prednisolone or are they worth taking at all? Any advice would be most appreciated.

WILL I GET THE MOONFACE? :( i weigh about 60 kg. they assured me that i wont but last time i puffed up alot with 60mg and it wasnt that pleasant..
Avatar f tn After her having several visits to the GP and with my persistent concerns my Mother was prescribed a dose of Prednisolone, 40mg for 5 days. My Mother responded really well to the prednisolone and has not coughed since she has completed the course last Friday (7th November 2008). The only draw-back to the Prednisolone has been that she has experienced steroid induced diabetes which has now reverted. She has also continued with her inhalers and feels more relief from them now.
277836 tn?1359666174 Why should I still be having upset stomach I thought that the prednisone was working but as my dose has tampered down it has seemed to come back everytime I eat its instant please advise if possible. Also should I seek a second opinion???????
Avatar m tn Hi, Yes moon face is common to happen with such huge dose of prednisolone and it does come down with reducing dose. Usually with in 2 weeks of stopping the drug there is a slight change, while with in 2 months time noticeable change can be seen. Also, these changes are individual to every patient. Flare ups are common with abrupt discontinuance, but not with proper weaning of prednisolone. Hope this helps. Best.
1580703 tn?1651904887 at what dosage dose and length of time does prednisone cause brain damage and memory problems, thinking problems? thanks!
Avatar f tn I have secondary adrenal deficiency due to pituitary injury. I've been taking 5mg prednisone in the morning and 5mg Cortef at noon. Normally I have cortisol levels done in the AM without any meds; but last time, I took my labs after taking prednisone. I took 5mg prednisone at 6 am and my 9am serum cortisol was 1.7 ug/dL. This is much lower than my usual a.m. cortisol (5-7ug/dL). I did some research and an endocrinology textbook (thank you Google books!
Avatar n tn The doctor prescribed prednisolone eye drops with a tapering dose over a week or so. This seemed to take care of the issue. However, a couple of weeks later and after going off of the eye drops as prescribed, my eye flared up with the same symptoms. The doctor recommended the same treatment. The eye once again improved. 1 week after the second incident, I was nearly tapered entirely off of the eye drops. However, my top eyelid became quite swollen and painful.
Avatar m tn t have enough to complete the course for three weeks. I gave her an additional 20mg dose yesterday morning, and nothing this morning. My question is, what is the best way to wean her off the medicine without causing her harm? I've realized I only have 3 more 20mg pills.
920032 tn?1550680156 i have been on a maintenace dose of predisolone 7.5 mg since in my 30s..because of adrenal failure.. 6 years ago i had a crash and was bed bound for 1 year and hosebound for 2 years.l.i was advised to try and wean myself off the prednisolone. l.i was improving daily and down to 6mg lately i find myself increasing again on and off due to extra stress. However my breathlessnes is isnt so good..i had lab tests done as i suspected secondary hypothyroidism might be adding things...
Avatar n tn It begins with a high dose at first, the dose is halved every 2 or 3 days until the lowest effective dose is achieved.
397460 tn?1268533736 Your pain is possibly due to reduction in the prednisolone dose. The dose should be modulated gradually. You should consult your physician and get the dose adjusted. Refer http://www.emedicine.com/emerg/topic568.
