549511 tn?1271775930 yes that is fairly common side effects of that medicine, especially if you are on a high dose? what mg are you on? Ive been on prednisone many times too for both asthma and my back. It does help practically anything wrong in your body for sure (my perpetually stuffy/swollen inner nose is finally opened up when Im on it!) but yes it has side effects- particulary the mood swing thing.
Avatar f tn I have no idea what your doctor's intentions are, but based on the limited medical background you posted, I strongly believe that you need to explore the things I mentioned in my original post including also ask for a complete hormonal panel, and then have a serious risk/benefit analysis for any immunosuppressive steroid treatment. Prednisolone is a synthetic steroid!
Avatar n tn Also, for prednisolone and prednisone, the doctor doesn't just"advise" you to taper.
Avatar m tn The doctors are attempting me to treat me with prednisolone with serveral creams. lichen planus occurs in my mouth which if i brush my teeth/have mints/ and no to mention chilli my mouth BURNS UP! now, i have been on 60mg of pred before but now im on 30mg and weening off about 5mg per week. WILL I GET THE MOONFACE? :( i weigh about 60 kg. they assured me that i wont but last time i puffed up alot with 60mg and it wasnt that pleasant..
Avatar m tn My vet told me that she had mites and we need to increase the dose of worm medicine from one to two tablets (i.e Endolav 200mg). This did not work so we went to the pharmacist and they give me ivomec and I was told to give her 1ml every 7 days. I was also given a mix of sulphur and oil to rub on her. This worked for about a month and then she was in the same plight again. I returned to the vet and we were now told to try bathing her every three days and increase the ivomec from 1ml to 1.5ml.
Avatar f tn I had been in a treatment with prednisone and Methotrexate for one year but the abscess goes away and comes back, so I guess that the medicine is not working in my body, at less not for the GM, b/c is killing me with the side effects. I would like to start think on the mastectomy but i am really confused. yesterday I was on the Dr and actually I have a drain until tomorrow when the Dr will change it.
Avatar m tn Hello, After stopping this medicine(prednisolone),body may need time to adjust. The length of time this takes depends on the amount of prednisone taken, and how long it was used.Since it was used for approx 10 days in your case,so these side effects should disappear within a few days(10-15 days). Hope it helps.Take care and regards.
Avatar f tn We have been to the vet several times, and each time we are given a course of prednisolone, and an antibiotic. The vet believes that the reason for this is an allergic reaction to something, which then becomes staph. However we live in a heavily wooded area, and it is not financially possible to relocate. So pinpointing exactly what is causing the reaction is rather difficult.
Avatar m tn She broke out with the same rash a few days ago, and (stupidly) instead of taking her to the vet, I gave her the same dosage of medicine that we had left over from the last time. I gave her 20mg in the morning, 20 in the evening, and then realized that I didn't have enough to complete the course for three weeks. I gave her an additional 20mg dose yesterday morning, and nothing this morning. My question is, what is the best way to wean her off the medicine without causing her harm?

Now the spots which was appearing black then brown then yellow then blue turns to green and light green. Please give your comment on the eye condition. becoming good or worse. Here we asked to ophthalmologist he is not giving any update on the eye condition.

Avatar m tn this concerns me, if what you mean is PREDNISONE (the canine variety of prednisolone). How long has your dog been taking prednisolone? This is a very powerful drug that should not be given long term. It can cause some severe and very damaging side-effects. Prednisolone does not cause or treat seizures, but it can create some severe symptoms and primaryt conditions that can lead to a dog having seizures.
Avatar f tn I've been told to go on prednisolone for 3 months or so in order to bring down my slightly elevated liver enzymes. I am worried that the prednisolone might react with the oroxine therapy which I am taking daily for my Hashimotos hypothyroidism. The amount of prednisolone is 25mg per day for 1 week, then 10 mg per day for 2 weeks, then 7.5mg per day for 4 weeks, then 5 mg per day until i see the doctor in 3 months time.
Avatar f tn Prednisone is activated by enzymes in the liver to turn into prednisolone. They do have similar uses but prednisolone is more readily absorbed by the body. Prednisolone is usually used when there is liver toxicity or liver failure involved. There is no great difference between them, other than the above, however ... it is normal practice to begin at a low dosage, rising to a level that's appropriate for the weight of the dog.
Avatar m tn He has tried eye drops, Ibruprofen, and oral prednisolone but nothing has worked so far. The doctor looked in my eyes today but cannot see any inflammation and he also carried out a ultrasounds of both eyes and a mri scan of my orbits and head which have all come back normal. He has now refered me on to another eye doctor as he doesn't know what the problem is.

5629063 tn?1371241247 34 mm/hr , so a new test shows : CRP: 11 mg/L, RF : 3.4 IU/ml, Anti CCP : 8.5 U/ml ( negetive ) . please inform me what is the problem?
Avatar f tn Something similar is a glucosamine/chondroitin combination. Again, be sure it's formulated for cats. In humans, both the avocado-soybean unsaponifiables approach and the glucosamine/chondroitin approach seem to have about equal effectiveness. While talking to the vet, also check about prednisolone is not being considered. It's a steroid and often given to dogs, maybe it's not done that much in cats? But it reduces inflammation.
Avatar f tn I have been taking prednisolone on off for years for sinusitis/allergies and have read some people have started taking methotrexate for Rheumatoid Arthritis. Does anyone know if this would also work for chronic sinusitis conditions?
