Avatar m tn I had a kenalog injection in my right eye on 11/2/10 and now I am blind in that eye.I have seen my retina specialist two times since then and was told the kenalog created the problem and should clear up. Now I am taking prednisolone drops evert two hours. Has anyone else ever experianced this and how long does it take for the kenalog to dissolve. My vision in that eye was around 20/40 and it was believed that the kenalog could get my vision closer to 20/20.
Avatar f tn I have had one round of oral prednisolone and one prednisolone injection. They reduced the swelling a bit, but did not eliminate the problem. I refused to take methotrexate because I cannot accept the possible side effects. I am also refusing more prednisolone because of side effects and because it does not work completely. My doctor is trying me on doxycycline just in case this is caused by a corynebacterium. I am seriously considering mastectomy.
Avatar m tn I have just had an appointment with my ophthalmologist who prescribed Prednisolone Acetate Ophthalmic Suspension USP,. 1 drop, four times a day for 4 weeks. He suggested that if the drops don't fix my Uveitis (which has gotten quite severe) he would proceed with an injection. 1. I do not feel comfortable using these while pregnant because of possible effects on the fetus. 2. Is the injection safe while pregnant. What are the associated risks? Thank you!
Avatar m tn Steroid eye drops - I have read that for some patients they can cause an increase in IOP up to 15+ points in the 2+ weeks they are used after cataract surgery. Is having increased IOP for a few weeks a concern for me with glaucoma in the right eye? With 2 eye drops my IOP has been controlled for almost four years to ~16, and glaucoma has not gotten worse since I was put on the eye drops during that time.
Avatar f tn My doctor said these are hard to resolve this long after surgery. I took Navanac drops and prednisolone acetate drops 4 times a day for 6 weeks. Had my eye scanned this week. No improvement to the fluid pockets. Doctor suggested getting steroids injected in that eye area. Will this really help this far out? Don't know if I want to take further risks. What are the long term risks of having tiny fluid pockets behind the eye?
Avatar f tn One of the ladies had an allergic reaction to hair dye a few years back and received a steroid injection. She had steroid psychosis from the injection and never went back. She is now learning how to live her life with it. Like my son, she was not on treatments over a long period of time. It was a one time reaction. Apparently it is rare. I'm terrified of it happening to my son again. I know he will not be given decadron again, but other injections will be used later when needed.
Avatar m tn 100% deaf in my left ear. I had my first prednisone injection in my inner ear and started on 60 mg oral prednisone for 10 days and then step down every 3 days for the next 10 days (6/3/2/1). After my second injection on October 26, 2015, I could actually hear words - faint words, but words. I had my 3rd and final injection on November 2, 2015. I am just today finishing up my last prednisone pill.
Avatar n tn Double vision following injection eye anesthesia is not at all rare. I have done research and published three scientific papers on the subject: 81. “Diplopia Cases After Peri-bulbar Anesthesia without Hyaluronidase”, Hagan III JC, Whittaker TJ, Byars SR Journal of Cataract & Refractive Surgery, 25:1560-61, 1999 82. “Diplopia and Ptosis Following Injection of local Anesthesia Without Hyaluronidase”, Jehan FS, Hagan III JC, Whittaker T, Subramanian M.
Avatar n tn I was given Prednisolone to treat the inflammation. I was also given a steroid injection in my right eye that seemed to work. The doctors do not knkow where or what caused this condition ( no family history). I am frequently tested negative for sacodosis. My concern now is that my doctor informed me that my left eye dilated on its own and there was no injury or anything and his only explanation was that things just happen.
Avatar n tn Emergency Levofloxacin eye drops with prednisolone eye drops were started. 6 hrs after which Vancomycin 500mg injection was administered. The diagnosis was Endophthalmitis. On USG, it was shown that there is no retinal detachment. According to the Dr., the infection was responding to treatment. 10 days later, she was advised vitrectomy & 70% of fluid was removed. Inspite of this, vision hasn't improved. Again vancomycin & dexamethasone injections were given 10 days later.
Avatar m tn this concerns me, if what you mean is PREDNISONE (the canine variety of prednisolone). How long has your dog been taking prednisolone? This is a very powerful drug that should not be given long term. It can cause some severe and very damaging side-effects. Prednisolone does not cause or treat seizures, but it can create some severe symptoms and primaryt conditions that can lead to a dog having seizures.
Avatar f tn I've been told to go on prednisolone for 3 months or so in order to bring down my slightly elevated liver enzymes. I am worried that the prednisolone might react with the oroxine therapy which I am taking daily for my Hashimotos hypothyroidism. The amount of prednisolone is 25mg per day for 1 week, then 10 mg per day for 2 weeks, then 7.5mg per day for 4 weeks, then 5 mg per day until i see the doctor in 3 months time.
Avatar f tn Prednisone is activated by enzymes in the liver to turn into prednisolone. They do have similar uses but prednisolone is more readily absorbed by the body. Prednisolone is usually used when there is liver toxicity or liver failure involved. There is no great difference between them, other than the above, however ... it is normal practice to begin at a low dosage, rising to a level that's appropriate for the weight of the dog.

5629063 tn?1371241247 34 mm/hr , so a new test shows : CRP: 11 mg/L, RF : 3.4 IU/ml, Anti CCP : 8.5 U/ml ( negetive ) . please inform me what is the problem?
Avatar n tn During examination, doctor talked about macular edema, some cells in the subretinal area and has prescribed Prednisolone 50mg (1X3days); then 40mg (1X3days); then 20mg (1X3days); then 10mg (1X3days); to be taken orally for a total of 12 days along with Ranitidine 150mg, b.i.d. Also Prednisolone acetate eye drops to be used 4 times a day for 12 days. He had also parallely asked for blood examination for ESR, RH factor, VDRL, Blood sugar- fasting & PP and chest x-ray.
Avatar f tn Something similar is a glucosamine/chondroitin combination. Again, be sure it's formulated for cats. In humans, both the avocado-soybean unsaponifiables approach and the glucosamine/chondroitin approach seem to have about equal effectiveness. While talking to the vet, also check about prednisolone is not being considered. It's a steroid and often given to dogs, maybe it's not done that much in cats? But it reduces inflammation.
Avatar n tn Also, for prednisolone and prednisone, the doctor doesn't just"advise" you to taper.
Avatar f tn I have been taking prednisolone on off for years for sinusitis/allergies and have read some people have started taking methotrexate for Rheumatoid Arthritis. Does anyone know if this would also work for chronic sinusitis conditions?
