After her having several visits to the GP and with my persistent concerns my Mother was prescribed a dose of Prednisolone, 40mg for 5 days. My Mother responded really well to the prednisolone and has not coughed since she has completed the course last Friday (7th November 2008). The only draw-back to the Prednisolone has been that she has experienced steroid induced diabetes which has now reverted. She has also continued with her inhalers and feels more relief from them now.
Dogs don't do well on long term steroid treatment. Are you sure it's prednisone/prednisolone that he's taking? What is he taking the steroid for? Did he have seizures BEFORE starting the corticosteroid? How long has he been taking the corticosteroid? These are all important questions before an answer can be attempted.
If the arm pain was due to some neuropathy, then this does respond to prednisolone or steroids. If the neuropathy started post viral infection (flu, cough cold, fever etc), then in all probability this should subside and not recur. However, if the neuropathic pain is secondary to diabetes, hypothyroidism, Lyme’s or lupus, then these conditions need to be treated.
I am worried that the prednisolone might react with the oroxine therapy which I am taking daily for my Hashimotos hypothyroidism. The amount of prednisolone is 25mg per day for 1 week, then 10 mg per day for 2 weeks, then 7.5mg per day for 4 weeks, then 5 mg per day until i see the doctor in 3 months time. The liver doctor has also put me on ursodeoxycholic acid tablets 1 tablet two times a day.

my two years old son has an anemia and now is taking ferrous sulfide 3 bottles he took the first bottle already so befor e the 2 blood test due date he had an allergy asme coughing so his taking liquid ventolin albuterol,and ceron for cough and prednisolone orapred, its ben already 4 days and now i can see under his eyes bruises like sometimes reddish sometimes blue and dark specially at nights.
ve always been an athlete running 4-6 miles everyday. The illness (what initially appeared to be a cold with dry cough) turned into pneumonia or severe bronchitis. I almost died on several occasions from mucous plugs. Initial diagnosis by the hospital doctor was asthma (intrinsic). Allergy tests were negative.
to make a long story short, I was diagnosed last week with otitis. at the same time I had flegm and cough and a stuffy nose. I am taking antistamine, antibiotic(erithromycin) and nasal spray. I am desperate because I can't hear a thing!!! I only have one ear as I am deaf in the other one, so you can understand my agony. My job is sufferring as well.

I'm a 54yo male, my daughter is almost 6. We've both been coughing only after catching a "cold" during school season. The "cold" symptoms usually go away in one to two weeks. The cough last for a few weeks to six months. Often she brings another illness home from school before we get over the previous congestion and it starts all over.
I've had two sputum test the showed nothing. We've both had lung x-rays that were clear, twice each.
HIV COMBO test came negative after 46, 70, 124 and 138 days . I have been taking 5 mg Prednisolone daily for last one year . I have below concern 1. Prednisolone can delay antibodies? 2. These results are conclusive or need to repeat at 6 months?

I am newly DX with chrons two weeks ago and have been placed onto Prednisolone 50 mg a day. I was wondering how these drugs worked for other people? Other than the fact that they hav brought my D under control, I am still having really bad stomach pains. How quick did you guys get results with these drugs? Was it long term effects bad on you?
I was told that they should work straight away, but no such luck! Since starting them, I have had UTI AND A KIDNEY INFECTION.
Later 2 around in 12th week i affected with bels palsy and it confirmed by doctor and he gave prednisolone for 15 days and i took that and now it cured. And I stopped the all tablet and now for the past 2 days i had rash on my both shoulders and white dots on ear side and neck and it is painless. I again met doctor he said this may be due to allergic to prednisolone. And now at the end of 93rd day i tested retroquick test for HIV and it came Negative.
m sure there are many uses for prednisolone (an oral steroid.) I have had it prescribed for my bronchitis. It usually doesn't work for the wheeing and congestion, but it does help my MS for a few days, even at a very small dose. I believe it is usually used to clear up inflammation. I also had it once (or something very similar) believe, for optic neuritis. A doctor told me it was handed out like candy it was used so much.
d injured my arm, and listened to my Chest (I have asthama) and prescribed me Prednisolone for a chest infection. The doctor was convinced this was not heart related. I was reluctant to take the drug...and the same symptomns came and went.

i have recently been diagnosed with swine flu and am on tamiflu (with two days of the course left to go) I have also got some kind of chest infection on top on this and my doctor has given me prednisolone steroid tablets and an inhaler. the chest infection is not getting any better (cant get in touch with my doctor till monday now) what is worrying me today is that my breathing is still bad..and any slight movements walking leads to coughing and lack of breath....today though..
Prior to that I took him 2 weeks ago for cough and chest congestion. My son has had a bad cough for over 4 weeks and starting on Sunday he was vomiting, naseous, complete loss of apetite. The pediatrician drew blood, ordered a chest x-ray and put him on a nebulizer treatment. He said that his chest was congested and the vomiting was probably due to that or a small virus.
I have also had this illness for just three months. I have had one round of oral prednisolone and one prednisolone injection. They reduced the swelling a bit, but did not eliminate the problem. I refused to take methotrexate because I cannot accept the possible side effects. I am also refusing more prednisolone because of side effects and because it does not work completely. My doctor is trying me on doxycycline just in case this is caused by a corynebacterium.

My doubt is can i confirm i am not infected with HIV.
Prednisone is activated by enzymes in the liver to turn into prednisolone. They do have similar uses but prednisolone is more readily absorbed by the body. Prednisolone is usually used when there is liver toxicity or liver failure involved.
There is no great difference between them, other than the above, however ... it is normal practice to begin at a low dosage, rising to a level that's appropriate for the weight of the dog.
