526889 tn?1212540641 For your age you need 1500 calories daily to safely lose weight. I would recommend a Heart Healthy diet which is a moderate fat diet. Moderate fat diet means = use polyunsaturated (omega 3, corn oil, nuts, etc) fats and monounsaturated (olive oil, canola oil, peanut oil, etc) fats, no saturated fats (high fat snack foods, butter, fat spreads) and no trans fats.
Avatar f tn Firstly it depends on whether any heart damage occurred pre surgery. Second was the surgery a complete success. Thirdly will complications occur during recovery or further in the future. If there was no heart damage and the surgery was a good result, plus no complications occur during recovery then there is no reason why anyone cannot return to a normal life. However, if the job involves lifting, then I will be surprised if he will feel well enough after 6 months to do this.
Avatar f tn a patch including a vessel interface side and an opposing non-interface side, the patch being configured to have a stowed state when delivered to a mouth of the aneurism, the patch being formed of a thermally active material that moves to a pre- defined shape when electrically heated, the pre-defined shape forming an adherence between the vessel interface side and an area of the vessel wall adjacent to the aneurism mouth, wherein the adherence maintains a fixed position of the patch relative to
Avatar n tn My mother died at age 66 of a massive heart attack. Is it possible that this episode is a symptom of heart disease or a pre curser to a heart attack? I should also mention that during rest I felt fine. When I was up moving around or moving my left arm is when I felt the pain. Also during the beginning of the attack it was very hard to take a deep breath. This would make the pain worse. If this was a heart attack or a symptom of one what steps should I take now that I am feeling ok?
Avatar f tn Boston, I assume you've changed your diet and made lifestyle changes, too? And there are no other pre-disposing factors that could add to causing the ulcers?
Avatar m tn Complications include difficulty of breathing, heart problems, kidney problems during or after the operation, though these can be minimized with proper pre-operation evaluation (usually by an internist, or cardiologist). Operation to the spine is also very tedious and technical and the more common complication would include infection of the surgical site. The plates or cage if not properly secured can cause further problems like nerve impingement.
Avatar m tn How come you can reverse pre-diabetes to be considered a non-diabetic but when you reverse to normal blood lvls during diabetes, you're still considered diabetic?
Avatar n tn I have been trying to keep up with this awfull diet since Dec 21 2004. But I have to tell you that I do cheat because the diet is so hard to stay on. I have an appointmnet with this Doctor next week and I am thinking about seeing a Dietician. My Doctor did tell me after being on this diet for about 1 month that I could start to have a couple of times a week strawberries and melon. 796455 tn?1325858257 Hey ladies I'm looking for some input. My husband and I are TTC and have been for awhile. We have decided to step it up a notch.I've been taking prenatals, stopped drinking alcohol, watching my caffeine intake. I want to start a pre pregnancy diet but don't know where to start. I've looked up what I should be eating but it didn't give me much. It has been hard for us and I want to increase my chances. :) Does anyone have any suggestions?
Avatar f tn t want to go back in the next day to remove my gallbladder. Hence, the docs suggested a low-fat diet which was <5.0grams of fat in any given meal and it worked to thwart off any future attacks. But you need to talk with your doctor to see what is best for you. So sorry you are going thru this now. Steering clear of any fats (esp fried foods and cream sauces) worked for me.
Avatar f tn t want to tell you to watch it around Thanksgiving but afterwards you need to go back to your diet. Start baking your chicken and fish and eating lettuce and tomatoes on sandwiches" Like really? I didn't think I was gaining too much. I've heard some people say they gained 40 pounds. Ughhh. I'm still going to eat what I want..
Avatar f tn Although SVT is generally not life-threatening in an otherwise normal heart, symptoms from the racing heart may feel quite uncomfortable. These arrhythmias are common in young people.
Avatar n tn 08, I have done CT Angiogram scan and noted that there is 50-60% block in the first branch from the main artery from the heart, and another 30% block in a much smaller artery much futher. I have been taking Crestor and Cardiprin since Jan' 09. The cardiologist recommend that I perform an ballooning by inserting a stent at teh blockage. Is it necessary for me if teh blockage is less than 60%?
Avatar f tn Many individuals following open heart surgery have a memory problem for about 6 months post operation. Open heart surgery puts the individual on heart and lung machine so the fibrosis is probably not an issue during the operation. The main problem with the heart is the valve orifice and that can be corrected without open heart surgery (sometimes). The aorta regurgitation can be the cause of shortness of breath as well as the pulmonary issue. What is the operation expectation.
Avatar f tn I like the paleo diet. My weight loss had stalled for a long time, and now I'm losing again on the paleo diet. There's a lot of information out there about the paleo diet, nowadays. A book called The Paleo Approach is a good introduction. I also like the PaleoMom website, and she also has a book that has just come out. Nom Nom Paleo is another good source. In effect, the paleo diet is a low-carb diet, because you don't eat any grains.
Avatar f tn 11 so yea I look a little piggy right now lol I will turn 22 weeks this week is it bad to go on a diet ?
Avatar n tn Hi to all, Recently I went to have key hole surgery on my knee to repare a tear on my cartliage. Pre-operation the nurse took my blood pressure which I was told was ok but she also took my heart reading twice because she said it was very high and looked a little amazed. She asked me if I was very anxious about the surgery which to be honest I was as I am a worrier. I can't remember the figure but sure it was between between 110/120.
Avatar n tn About 4 years ago I had a silent heart attack and was VERY surprised to hear I had damaged heart cells. Medication has been very beneificial. You should not be a risk for a knee operation, and I'm sure they will go forward with the operation after confirming or ruling out any past heart condition.
3110611 tn?1368485035 Chances are the heart rate of 83 is your own natural heart rate and is not your pacer working; that would kick in when the heart rates are real low. Keep us posted.
1060769 tn?1254977492 it depends on now much the valve is leaking. The blood is basically staying in your arteries or the heart and it just means the blood isnt being pushed out of the heart as efficiently as it could. Lots of people have leaking valves, millions in the US. Is your leak mild, moderate or severe? if mild/moderate it is likely they will try to control your symptoms with medication. Severe will require repair surgery or replacement.
Avatar m tn IS this Biscuspid valve operation a major operation to Heart. Since i am only 27 Years old and i can do all activities after the operation as normal or else i have to take precautions which Heart patients take after surgery.
