I am a 62 year-old male who has been taking simvastatin for about 30 years. Has anyone had problems with Zoloft side effects as a result of eating grapefruits? I started taking zoloft (100 mg daily) just two months ago and have not gotten over what I thought were the initial symptoms--dizziness, drowsiness, itchy skin. Is it safe to take Levothyroxine at the same time as Pravastatin? Also, 2 months ago, I started to take my Levothyroxine at bedtime instead of in the morning as it is more convenient. and after a recent bloodtest my GP has reduced my Thyroxine to 75mcg instead of 100mcg. I also tend towards side effects and toxicity. Plain old dizziness - not the vertigo kind - is a classic symptom of Lamictal toxicity and the slowing down is likely from the Xanax (as moonpanda mentioned, grapefruit keeps it from being metabolized).
In theory, if you keep a steady amount of grapefruit in your diet, things will even out or your dosages can be tailored around your grapefruit - but you'd have to consistently eat the same amount (and your doctor would have to agree to it).
Hi I did a search and found this, it appears it is just the grapefruit juice. My Mom was told not to eat grapefruit with her Synthroid. I think it can increase that dose as well.
