Common Questions and Answers about Pravastatin back pain

pravachol

Avatar f tn Can someone explain what, if any, evidence there for a switch from simvastatin to pravastatin? My husband's doctor said there is new evidence that simvastatin may be detrimental. Unfortunately, my husband did not quiz him further. He already has one stent in a narrow back artery but he has brought his cholesterol down considerably with the statins.
1806721 tn?1554333407 There is a palpable small mass in my left pelvic/abdominal area that is associated with the pain, although nobody knows what it is. So I think Pravastatin is safe for me - will see how it works out for me in a month and report back.
Avatar n tn Two recent trials have compared the clinical outcomes of intensive lipid lowering with atorvastatin 80 mg/day and standard lowering with pravastatin 40 mg/day. In the Pravastatin or Atorvastatin Evaluation and Infection Therapy (PROVE IT) trial, patients with acute coronary artery syndromes were enrolled, and pravastatin lowered the low-density lipoprotein (LDL)-cholesterol to 2.46 mmol/l, whereas atorvastatin lowered it to 1.60 mmol/l.

Avatar n tn In early September, I was prescribed a statin for the first time, 40 mg of Pravastatin, to be taken at night. After 2 weeks, I started having muscle pain/weakness in my legs but for the first time in my life had very odd heart palpatations after lying down in bed for about 10 minutes when I was first trying to sleep. I stopped taking the Pravastatin after about 1 month.
1688079 tn?1305854113 The Hospitalist put me on metoprolol 25mg every 12hrs and pravastatin 10mg once a day. Put me on a cardio diet.  What does all this mean and why am I on a beta blocker??
Avatar f tn I am a 39 year old, female. I was put on Pravastatin about 9 weeks ago as my cholesterol had gone from 190 to 225 from the previous year. I have a family history of heart disease (my father passed away after a second heart attack at 53). I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism 2 years ago and was placed on Levoxyl (75mg) and my levels have remained normal. I went to have my cholesterol checked after taking the pravastatin for 9 weeks.

1806721 tn?1554333407 This question is moot now. Apparently with 5mg Ambien, I'm only able to get 4-5 hrs of sleep and wake up at the same time (3-4am) by the same pain in my hip/back and weakness in my leg/feet. It's very disappointing indeed. What is the point of lowering the risk of disease at the cost of extended period of low quality of life?
Avatar m tn m still trying to get a clarification. Anyway, the cardiologist put me on Amlodopine and Pravastatin. Now, on a daily basis it seems, my heart rate increases and beats at 90-115 bpm (normally in the mid 70s). At the same time, I've started on a vegetarian diet to try to lower my cholesterol. To try to make sure I get enough protein, I am using a protein drink (10-14 gr protein each). I drink 1-2 of these per day.
Avatar m tn More importantly, I have been experiencing back pain for the past few months and would like to try CBD. I am down to sleep a few hours a night. (Hopefully, I can resolve the cause of the back pain but, in the meantime and in anticipation of requiring pain relief as I get older.
179856 tn?1333547362 You're paying for the fudgicles now. But really, do you even have liver disease? As the famous Dr. says (see a question from me to him in July'ish) your liver should recover. So, with a recovered liver and the absence of hcv - you might not have liver disease and therefore might be 'eligible' for those thing that you weren't when you 'had' that stuff. Nothing wrong with diet, exercise and twigs and pebbles on your dinner plate, I suppose.
Avatar m tn On Thursday I was about 26 minutes into my cardio when it felt like someone hit me with a broom stick across my mid back. It caused my breating to gasp twice. I then noticed pain in my center right portion of my back. I continued for about a minute and then stopped my workout early. The pain became positional (meaning I could excacerbate or relieve the pain by getting in certain positions). It was like this all day and then the next day everything was fine. Heart? Or just maybe nerve pinched?
Avatar n tn I recently was prescripbed pravastatin and I notice a higher number when I test after a night of fasting in my Blood Glucose. Is there a posibility that could cause the rise.
Avatar f tn Dr had changed from Lipitor (generic) to Pravastatin 40 mg, but still horrible muscle pain. Dr wants to put on another statin( saying this has less side effects) and extremly expensive...But I would like to try a Non Statin is there is one on the market, or would there be supplements that are available and have good results? Mainly I would like names of non statins to research and discuss.
Avatar m tn Is it safe to take Levothyroxine at the same time as Pravastatin? Also, 2 months ago, I started to take my Levothyroxine at bedtime instead of in the morning as it is more convenient. and after a recent bloodtest my GP has reduced my Thyroxine to 75mcg instead of 100mcg. Could taking it at bedtime be the reason for this reduction? I will obviously ask my GP about this on my next visit to the surgery but would be grateful for any advice.
Avatar m tn I have been having a constant chest pounding and pain radiating all over my left and right breast area, all tests done proved negative for heart condition but the pain rather than decreasing, seem to be increasing in intensity. I am on LISINOPRIL-HCTZ 20-25MG and BYSTOLIC for HBP I am also on PRAVASTATIN for Cholesterol. I recently had to stop the Bystolic because my heart rate was low between 45-62.
Avatar m tn I would like to try going back to 3 mg coreg for a bit if my echo is good and drop pravastatin all together. and then assess everything after 6 months or so. I understand that some studies show long term benefit for patients like me but these are people on normal diets (much higher in saturated fats and much lower in many nutrients) and who are likely not as active as I am.
Avatar m tn Last week went in for yearly and my liveer enzymes were elevated AST 48 ALT 105 (range 7-60) non-reactive hep panel. I am currently having RUQ pain thru to my back. I rarely drink, I probably DON'T eat right, little overweight, but my abdomen looks like I am 7 months pregnant. I haven't reported the abdomen distension or pain - should I? Does anyone have anything like this? Could MS/lupus/hashimoto's cause something like this? I'd appreciate any comments...
Avatar n tn My (74 year old) father currently is taking these medications together Pravastatin Sodium 80mg, Zetia 10 mg, Isosorbide Mnonitrate 30 mg, Metoprolol tartrate 50 mg, Plavix 75 mg, Amlodipine Besylate 10 mg, Aspirin (nsaid) 81 mg low dose The doctor told him his liver count is up 66 and the lower range is 64. Would any of these drugs or combination of these drugs make liver count increase?
Avatar n tn Having severe back and leg pain when I stad and can barely walk. Could this be the pravastatin?
Avatar m tn I take Pravastatin, and my liver Enzymes GGT are high, but ALT and AST are in normal range, not sure why, I have heard different answers some doctors ar concern and others are not

1383782 tn?1279392573 So I am on a lot of different pain killers (vicoden, percocet and oxycotten), never combined, but my pain fluctuates and I take what I need. I am on the pain meds for an injury to my hand that got infected and I ended up having a Proximal Row Carpectomy (removal of a row of bones out of the wrist). This has been a LONG process and that was not my only surgery just the most current.
Avatar f tn I have a bladder infection, I think. So I called my Dr and told him what was going on. He prescribed Septra generic DS. It made me so sick that I called him back and asked what to do and he said it would be alright to take a half pill twice a day instead of a whole one. This is the second time I've had a bladder infection in two months. The first time was when I was in the hospital. No catheter was used. They sent me home with a script for Septra and it cleared up with in 5 days.
Avatar n tn My lab work came back and my Glom Filt Rate, ESt was 59 L Is this anything to be concerned with.
